A Drive to Succeed (Elite Dangerous)

- It'll be another week (11th April) before Titan Oya becomes vulnerable to attack, but Taranis and Leigong are both now sources of the Titan Drive Components that Achilles Corporation is collecting so it can make a rival to the Sirius Frame Shift Drive.

I was insanely lucky and got a drive part on my first trip into the cloud dumpster diving. No corrosion resistant rack, but the ship hold up ok until I scope up a heart (I have two now). But with a carrier nearby, hearing "life support at 50%" is not really a problem.
I wonder just how many drive components are on carriers, I did travel with the single one I have to turn it in and that was a trip and a sizzle...
Note that the dissipation of the caustic cloud has also cleared the way for NPC pirates around Taranis' remains.
Let's hope so - they pay so well!
There are also NPC anti xno pilots at the titan with the caustic gone
That honestly might make the area more dangerous for my goodies-collector ship than having a caustic cloud and more 'Goids.
I hope it is a LOT better
Frame First Drive.
Great images, as always 👍👍
Thanks for your work!
Thank you for the update!!!
So much fun missions available for everyone!

I've turned in 6 so far, and my alt account has turned in 1. It's a really neat environment, and cooler still in VR!
Speaking of VR, what headset are you using? I've got one of the original Acer Windows Mixed Reality sets, and I've been happy with it. But MS is killing off WMR, so all WMR-based headset are dying (I rolled back to a build that WMR still works in, and have ceased all updates for now). I'm looking for Steam-compatible headsets that don't require the WMR portal but that don't cost a fortune.
I need to go to Leigong to get more drive components
its still dangerous if your not prepared
Spent 4 days off and on looking for a drive piece and finally got one!!! Only to smash it on my shields coming in too hot to grab it. 3 hours later, I had another spawn for me and managed to get it back to my carrier.
is there any point to this? will they be used somewhere?
@@pewlivepie5006They'll be used to help develop a new FTL drive.
@@pewlivepie5006 it’s suggested that Achilles which is requesting them and awarding paint jobs for them, is going to use them to make a different type of FSD. Perhaps one that makes being interdicted in super cruise, pretty much impossible because you will be moving too fast. It has been suggested that this will make PVP far more optional, essentially negating the interdiction part of pvp.
I Managed to contribute 10 so far
Now I don't feel so bad about only turning in 1
Waaaaait... What was that thumbnail?! :D
Still, thank you for reading the news so that I don't need to read them! :D
It's a shame tissue sampling is still the meta, even after the nurf.
I miss this on console

Anyone figure out how often they respawn?
I once found two in under 15 minutes. Another time it took me nearly two hours to find one. Do what you will with that info.
@@Syntherios appreciate it, been long out of the loop. Need to grab a few before the deadline. Besides, Ive got a carrier for safekeeping until I'm ready to deliver.
@@mikewaterfield3599 I'd recommend going into the debris field and focus on farming mats until a TDC spawns because flying around with the only intention of picking up a TDC will be infuriatingly boring. Bring a ship with a low heat signature (under 20% at idle) to stay largely undetectable by the goids in the area (heatsinks and a low emission power plant is ideal), a collector limpet controller for convenience, and a caustic resistant cargo rack to transport the TDC when you find one. If you don't care about other cargo pickups like tissue samples and meta alloys, use the filter function to ignore everything that isn't a TDC. That way it declutters your radar and contact list to find TDCs easier. Shields and weapons are optional; scouts will eventually spawn in and be assholes if they detect you, but refreshing the instance (relog or low wake) will cause them to despawn. Caustic sinks are also optional now since the area isn't actively corrosive anymore, at least around Taranis.
I wish you luck, CMDR.
@@Syntherios your talking to a guy who laser mined tritium for hours 60k light years from the bubble so he could make the return trip with his carrier. My patience is thick.😎
@@SyntheriosThis is all excellent advice.
Oh, it's Thargoid HEARTS, I forgot to carry the F.
I have contributed 2, and has another 2 in bank. Not sure to bring it, or keep it.
Idk, but I feel it would have been better if they left a little bit of caustic clouds and not completely removed it.
