I'm a retired cop, grew up in East Tx around saw mills. I watch a lot of RUclips video and I always keep coming back to yours, let's see what he's sawing today. Enjoy it very much. Stay safe.
I just got back from the PA open house from woodmizer and they gave out a book called the woodmizer way and there is a pic of some guy from Kingsport Tennessee named Nathan Elliot.
Watching couple months now , seen some some people hating on some of your stuff . It's your dream do it your way. Just watched three years ago you have come a long way . You must be doing something right !
Man that is some sweet looking white oak. I miss milling watching you brings back memories. I never get tired of seeing a log opened up to see the beauty it has to share with the world. Every log is unique never the same natures miracles. Thanks for letting us/ me be apart of this.
Having discovered your videos so late in your series, I'd like to repeat my love of your passion, the dedication you take in including the quality videos, THE MUSIC, and lastly, since I don't want to keep repeating myself in future viewings, I appreciate the scenery you include! I've never experienced that part of our wonderful country, and sure do love the free travel views I get from you!
Very much agree with Mr Ball about your camera work. Also you are getting quite good at all your content creation. As always, I enjoy watching you work at all the things you do. It’s very relaxing and interesting at the same time. Thanks 🙏 very much 👍
You are one of 100s i follow. But honestly wait to see your videos each upload. You are informative and explain things well. Hope all goes well wait to see the next one.
If you get a chance, could you talk about your gear a little. That mic has really changed your videos. I’d like to know more about it. Thanks in advance.
OUT OF THE WOODS- I watch a lot of your videos, great job. I note that you usually work alone and wonder if you have ever considered 'adjusting' your mill so that you can, once you complete the cut, put you mill in reverse and send it back on its own? While it is going back you can do your off-loading, and the millhead will be waiting for you. When working alone this setup can yield a 10 to 20 % production efficiency. Of the many videos that I have watched, I have yet to see anyone utilizing this feature. TKSLEE
Awesome. Instead of a live chat , you could gather up all the questions that folks have asked you and answer them in video. Just a thought. I'm with you on the live chat questions go by so fast.
Have you ever freehand sawn logs or used an Alaskan chain-sawmill? I’m working with the freehand right now and very much enjoying it. Just wanted to know if you had large lumber that would not fit in the sawmill you could video some of that with a chainsaw. the drone video at the end was awesome. I love this time of year!
For the Q&A: Have you considered adding the board return kit to your mill (or would you get it on a new mill)? That looks like it'd be a real back saver instead of reaching out over the log to move those heavy boards. Another awesome video and those are some prime fence boards!
Out of the of bad looking logs come great Woods..... this why burroughs make the best bowls etc....."the rougher that mother nature treats the tree the better the wood".... this is per phrased but I heard this over and over when I was growing up.....grew in blue collar family.......
I had to go back watch this again, realized you were only staging the walnut. Looking forward to that. I have a question for the Q&A video: What is your dream piece of equipment for your mill?
Another great video! Its amazing to think of the work the hydraulic mill saves vs a manual mill. I am jealous of the black walnut and white oak! non of that around here in central BC.Take care,- Jason
Hi Jason, I’m up here in Montana and I cut mostly Doug fir and pine. I have a 35 hydraulic just like you do and now I am now wishing I would have got a 40 super hydraulic for the same size reasons you’re running into with big logs might have been easier. I would sure love to cut some of that White oak someday. If I have to put up with another winter like we had here last year I may be down there doing it.
Order ya some serrapeptaste for your allergies, ain't never found anything to work as good and it's all natural. But get the high grade stuff, the 40,000 spu younwont hardly notice. Get 120,000 or higher and take a couple. I take as much as 1 million spu whe. Spring guys and allergies are in full force. Anyhow happy sawing my friend
👍 Liked... Another great video... That's some beautiful white oak on the mill & looking forward to seeing the crotch walnut on the mill as well... RUclips has a "Slow Chat" mode you can enable to limit the speed of the comments/questions during a live stream which might help you during the broadcast... Cheers from Australia... ☺
You need some four by four bunks or larger to use for a log deck to load those logs onto that way they're easier to load on to your mail and it keeps the logs cleaner
I make a good hand, I'll come help just to learn some. My heart's set on a mill. Fear of failure got me waiting to pull the trigger though. Be nice if I could get walnut down here in North Texas like y'all have.
I was in the same boat, found a deal on a LT15 I couldn’t pass up and now I don’t have a choice, gotta mill some logs. Get the mill, it will force you hand and you will never look back.
For the Q&A - Who and where are your markets? Do you sell lumber on your own or do you wholesale it? Tell a little about the business side of things. Thanks, Nathan. Your videos calm me down.
Since you are leaving the white oak on the mill for a few days do you cover it to keep the sun from drying it too fast and causing excess checking/splitting? I realize this log will be used for fencing so it doesn't really matter in this case but in general... I'm new to your channel but as a furniture builder I find it very interesting. Thank you for investing your time to enlighten us.
How much maintenance do your hydraulics need? And do you ever have problems with the frame of the trailer flexing or bending with a big log while milling?
I did look at timber king. The reason for WM is the custom service, yearly travel routes, and they invented this type of mill and everyone else just copied it. Well worth the investment
Nice timber bud. I like the idea of a live video. Any plans to quarter saw any of the walnut that's doesn't have any crotch wood live the look of that stuff
What drone do you have? How Many cameras you got? Would like to know the full process you do and how you came to that process? Oh and what's that neighbor doing lol
The only thing that works well. I mostly have tree pollen allergies. The worst is Maples, it's bad for about 2 weeks . Thanks for sharing your videos. From western Massachusetts, USA.
We have a very different forest here in Northern NH. To see that beautiful oak go into fencing seems a shame. But I guess if you folks have plenty..... Another great production. Thank You for sharing.
I have no expertise in forestry, but regarding allergies and all the dust - maybe wear a mask of some sort? When I even mow my (typical suburban) lawn I get a snout full of dust and dirt. :)
And for those who never been on a tractor let alone one with forks, you cant see dam thing in front of the tractor when it close to ground. Nothing like a forklift for seeing your load.
Those cows better taste da_n good getting to look at that oak fencing all their life! Man I would love to come help you cut those oaks! Maybe by then I could take your mill home with me!
Out of the Woods My wife said I could use my divorce proceeds to purchase it. She took the fun right out of milling! So now I need tips on how to persuade the other half on these business adventures? Lol
@@bobvanarkel7583 Since it's been a while I thought maybe you've figured it out. Years ago my wife said the same thing. Now that she's agreed she says i'm too old. Now I just have to convince her i'm not. I kinda figure that's just an excuse.
I am 65 years old and would like to have a portable mill. I turn wood bowl blanks, spindles, etc. and would also like to be able to build some fences and out buildings on a small tract of land. I intend to place my apiary, or one of them, on this site as well. What size mill would you suggest. I used to be a farmer, so I am used to working with machinery. I would appreciate any suggestions and comments.
note 2 self set long time goal 2 buy woodmizer. Thanks for taking the time an effort 2 produce these vids and yes I was thinking at least make hardwood flooring with it. Have a great weekend.
Ethan, I've been meaning to ask you about your drone. I've been thinking about getting one and yours looks like it does a good job. What would you recommend as far as a drone goes? What would you buy if you had it to do over? Any info helpful and appreciated. jh

Hey Nathan
Gunna ask you about quarter sawing with a chain saw mill...supposed to rain through the weekend...
Thanks for making your videos
I was wondering what size is that John Deere tractor ?
That exactly what I need
Thanks Again ! MERRY CHRISTMAS
Your video camera work is really progressing well as is your editing. Fun to watch you and machines at work.

Glad you showed some prep work. Most people dont know the hard work of just getting the log to the mill. Liked it!
Triple T Ranch & Sawmill lol its much harder when the customer doesnt have equipment...
Thanks buddy. Appreciate you watching

Winding down my day listening to good tunes watching OotW sawing.. Awesome! Have a great wknd Nate
Those fence posts will be some of the nicest posts ever milled.
Agreed 👍👍
That is some gorgeous white oak!
Agreed. Love sawing white oak!
Excellent, as usual. Your videos are very good that way. I am never disappointed.
Thanks Paul. I appreciate the feedback
What a nice deck of logs!

HUGE logs! That WOULD make some fine table tops, but ya' gotta stop the cows! Have a good weekend, Nathan.

thanks Scott!
I use a big backpack blower to clean ours. It works great getting the saw dust off.
For the Q&A: Have you considered adding the board return kit to your mill (or would you get it on a new mill)? That looks like it'd be a real back saver instead of reaching out over the log to move those heavy boards.

That White oak looked too good for fence boards!!. Some great furniture could be made out of that log. I could see a wonderful coffee table too
It will be. Trust me. No fence boards. They are stacked at my house for air drying
Never seen anything like that here in the UK. All the best dear friend .Graham 🇬🇧🇬🇧
that is some nice big white oak!
Q&A- how/where do you market your lumber to? How do you price your walnut?
very cool drone footage,
great video,
Thanks!

Yeppppp 👍
I had to go back watch this again, realized you were only staging the walnut. Looking forward to that. I have a question for the Q&A video: What is your dream piece of equipment for your mill?
great video, well done as usual,
Thanks!
You should mill a couple 6x6’s to deck your logs on. It will keep them off the ground and make it easier to roll them onto the mill.
Yeah I always say I’m going to do that but haven’t yet. I have some old light poles that would make good ones
Have a great weekend...
Thanks Robert

Xmas in May. All those walnut logs puts my brain on overload.

nice row of Timber!!
Thanks 👍
great vid as always im still running a chainsaw mill but would love bandsaw mill but a bit costly as i only mill few times a yr thumbs up
Thanks buddy 👍
Where I'm from Nathan, white oak does not get made into fencing!
Well it does here and for barn siding. It’s our most abundant tree.
Copy. All we have around here is Ponderosa. You are lucky down there.
Staying up late, its nearly midnight EST.
long day, wanted to get this out before hitting the sack,
How much maintenance do your hydraulics need? And do you ever have problems with the frame of the trailer flexing or bending with a big log while milling?
If i was nearby would help you out to put some of these White Oaks on the ground!
Thanks buddy!
Question - did you look at any other saw mills before you got the Wood-Mizer? If so which and why did you not get another?
I did look at timber king. The reason for WM is the custom service, yearly travel routes, and they invented this type of mill and everyone else just copied it. Well worth the investment
How to make you tube videos is my question...good job... Keep doin what you doing
I’ll come help! I’m a truck driver but I’ll be quitting soon I live in Saint Louis Missouri so I’m not that far.
Hey Nathan, Have you thought about ever getting the debarker? Would that help you with those rough logs? Just wondering,,, Chris
Where I have an older lt35 it will not accept one. Might get a new mill one day which will have one 👍👍
Nice timber bud. I like the idea of a live video. Any plans to quarter saw any of the walnut that's doesn't have any crotch wood live the look of that stuff
Probably just flat saw those. Less waste. Walnut is too $$
Out of the Woods I here that can't wait to see it sawn. Keep up the good work bud still my favorite RUclips channel
Thanks Cody. Appreciate that buddy
Out of the Woods no problem. Still wanna see a axe handle making video lol just saying
👍
Hi Nathan, do you see a time when you are going to have to get a bigger wood-mizer?🇬🇧🇬🇧
Yes. Sooner than later 👍
What drone do you have? How Many cameras you got? Would like to know the full process you do and how you came to that process? Oh and what's that neighbor doing lol
thanks ... how often do you have change blades and do you sharpen your own blades?
For the second white oak log, when you quarter saw it, will you go over the RRQS technique in detail?
Yes. That method is very accurate. Will never go back to the old way
Ah yes.
The Yellow hammer BLING Sawing technique.
Exellent
Allergy Buster.....Zyrtec D. Works well for me.
The only thing that works well. I mostly have tree pollen allergies. The worst is Maples, it's bad for about 2 weeks . Thanks for sharing your videos. From western Massachusetts, USA.
Do you never use the roots of walnut? Over here some of the best looking walnut gun stocks have come from the roots!
hello there my friend.👋
Hey Joe, thanks for watching, appreciate your time,
We have a very different forest here in Northern NH. To see that beautiful oak go into fencing seems a shame. But I guess if you folks have plenty..... Another great production. Thank You for sharing.
Thanks buddy. Trust mist oaks are everywhere here. Probably out most abundant tree species
Theirs the water beautiful
👍
Nice videos, question where do you get your logs and do you pay for them or get them free. Thanks
Free. Local farmers and land owners. Very rarely do I buy timber
nice video,, you hit many nails in these trees taken from homes and farms?
Not on these. The timber in this farm comes from a forest
Make nice t&g flooring. Rift cut.
I have no expertise in forestry, but regarding allergies and all the dust - maybe wear a mask of some sort? When I even mow my (typical suburban) lawn I get a snout full of dust and dirt. :)
Yeah I should do that. Thanks for sharing
Noticed your water flow as being heavy. What do you use or how do you determine whether the flow of water is adequate? I run a LT-15. Thanks
Would have been excellent for floor boards... ☺
I live in Chattanooga and I would love to come help you work man
And for those who never been on a tractor let alone one with forks, you cant see dam thing in front of the tractor when it close to ground. Nothing like a forklift for seeing your load.
that is some good looking wood and i am looking for land in your state
Good deal. We got plenty here.
Those cows better taste da_n good getting to look at that oak fencing all their life!
Man I would love to come help you cut those oaks!
Maybe by then I could take your mill home with me!
Hey Bob. Bring your check book. Might be for sale soon 👍

For hobby use the lt15 wide is a winner.
Thank you.
I'd love to come help and learn some stuff!

Out of the Woods I'm down in Macon, GA. How do I get in contact with you?
How many hardwood logs (or board feet) can you saw before changing blades?
If you sawed 8 hours, how many gallons of fuel would you burn?
TimberKing !!!
Woodmizer!!
It's OK when you don't know better...
Thanks. Look over my ignorance.
What rpms do you cut at, and do you normally stop the motor between cuts when you are moving boards?

Ethan, I've been meaning to ask you about your drone. I've been thinking about getting one and yours looks like it does a good job. What would you recommend as far as a drone goes? What would you buy if you had it to do over? Any info helpful and appreciated. jh
no drone expert by no means but I use the Mavic Air,
Dang did y’all cut down a walnut Forrest!? Lol
Maybe 🤔👍
I hope he at least sanded, stained, varnished and waxed his fence boards.
Also if you have some nice strait
White oak timbers 24"×8' or bigger I can sell for 10$ per bf
Wow that’s a good price
How do you prevent rust on your woodmiser
👍👍👍❤️
Why do you not wear a mask while sawing or brushing off?
