Thank you, Billy, for the suggestion of the Wada Bow Grip… it transformed my bow grip and ended the pain! I am an adult cello learner at the very beginning of my journey and the hand pain was very discouraging… your suggestion saved my bow hold development! Thank you again!!!!😊
I'm glad I'm not alone with this. I play classical guitar and picked up a student cello to explore cello. My right hand thumb is still buzzing after two days from practice. All the best with your cello pursuit!
I agree 100%! Unfortunately I've learnt the hard way, spending mucho denaro (as I carry a bunch of them around in my teaching bag to lend to pupils as and when necessary). I'm annoyed I didn't buy more StringVisions years ago when they cost 70% of what they cost today. It's great to hear a wise cellist and teacher confirm my own analysis. Cheers!
Thanks so much for your insight, Billy. I have been using the Stringvision Bowgrip. I started using it to orient my thumb but also to give a little cushion for my hand overall as I build up strength. I have finally removed all my tapes and I started to wonder if I should also remove my bow grip so it's good to hear that I could keep it more long term. 🎻
Those were interesting, Billy. But since I graduated from violin to double-bass to 'cello over a period of more than 60 years I think I shall not be purchasing one. It was fun, though, watching you try them out!

Thank you for the great video! I didn't know if I was commiting heresy by using a bow hold aid in learning.

I use the wada bow grip when my arthritis and tendonitis flare up, or my lightweight incredibow which has a more bulky area on the stick
Love all your videos Great info
hope you do a new vid soon. :)
Do you think any or all of these effect the sound brought out by the bow?? Same question for rubber tubing.
