Jon Anderson is one of the greatest melody creators in history. What a blessing he collaborated with Vangelis to write this amazing song, and what a joy to hear Donna Summer cover it.
But Vangelis wrote the melody. Although in this song maybe they would both did a mix of their melody contribution, also according to a Jon interview. But most would probably be Vangelis so music credits are Vangelis and lyrics credits to Anderson.
@@innosanto well they are both necessary to make this song as great as it is, and they complement each other beautifully in my opinion. I don't know why I am reminded of this, but a very long time ago (like in the 1970s) I saw Martin Mull performing live and one of the things he said was "People often come up to me and say, "Marty, when you write a song, what do you write first the words or the lyrics? And I say, "Yes!" I think there was more to it, but that's the part I remember.

Mi juventud. Fue acompañada por la reyna de la musica disco, señora Donna Sumner. Que en oaz descanse. Suempre escuchare su musica. Soy Nicaraguense, con 64 años. ❤😢
My NYC brother, former studio 54 patron, used to ring me up on a bad day and we would listen to this song together. Only, not since that day of tragedy. That day. RIP my brother.
Yes - it’s like it has its own life force driving it. All the separate elements, chants, harmony lines, percussion all pulled together in perfect command.
Yes, the orchestration of this piece of music is so masterful that you really just need to sit back, turn up the volume, close your eyes, and flow with the rhythm; and the choral accompaniment makes it soar!
Thank you for posting one if my favourite songs of all time. This performance with full orchestra, and backing vocal is sublime. Donna your beautiful voice lives on. ❤❤❤
Amazing version. I hope someone gets into the Studio and manages to bring this back to life! Even if it does mean Digital Remastering. PLEASE someone do it❤
This version ... ruclips.net/video/8NEE-OHGThw/видео.html ... with her daughter, both sisters and nieces n nephews is by far the best live version. I only wish someone could remaster the video to full HD, it certainly deserves it, as does Donna
ART OF NOISE? WHERE ARE YOU??!! PLEASE can one or maybe more of your digital guys polish this up a bit, without losing its SOUL? Release it and allow everyone to hear! PLEASE ❤
Donna Summer is definitely THE DISCO QUEEN and POP ICON and her influence and legacy were done in her own unique way. I can identify with Donna Summer and her creativity.
She is over 60 years old, sick with lung cancer, the whole audio is just shitty and STILL that voice of Donna easily sends shivers down your spine. Totally love that woman!
There is simply no boundaries to the sublime ART OF NOISE or should that be A WORK OF ART? It sends a shiver down my spine and a tear to my eyes. Wonderful wonderful wonderful. A world united 🌏❤🌏❤ June twenty two 🇬🇧🇬🇧👍😃👍
Love this song and love love love Donna Summer since her disco days... can never get her off my list of music requests.... thank you for sharing and letting the world see a true diva and someone who can be listened to day or night!!!!
Queen Summer AON orchestra choral They are all perfect !!...We must not forget the two Danish fabulous percussionists of Safri Duo on the vibraphone....Fantastic live of genius Vangelis an Jon song
Wouldn't exist without Vangelis and Jon Anderson. However Donna does a Stirling cover and it does sound good. I've a load of Donna vinyl and she really is the queen of pop and disco. It was a very sad day when she passed and I miss her beautiful voice.
Many thanks for the upload. Who's Afraid of the Art Of Noise? I'm still in "Moments In Love". Together with the "Queen of Disco". Never heard this Vangelis masterpiece in this combination. R.I.P. (La)Donna Gaines.
Best live performance ever!!! Amazing as she always was. The safari duo guy is gorgeous!!! And love how the backing singer in the middle is getting right into it! And love Jenny!! ❤️
What a fantastic arrangement for the orchestra! It’s so true to the original, yet it incorporates many new sounds that can only come from the full orchestra. It’s the perfect blend.
Wow i can ONLY imagine the Thrill of performing this Amazing Anthem with SUCH A BACKING of Orchestra and amazing Musicians AND Singers ! A ways from Disco eh! :D
SOI was written and originally recorded by Jon Anderson (of Yes) and keyboardist Vangelis for their Friends of Mr. Cairo album. Jon was always famous for making up words or phrases (i.e. Shablam idi shablam ida). Donna Summer didn't change anything when she recorded her version of the song.
Yes and the best and considered the definitive version 💜💜💜 This version is a masterpiece 💜💜💜 Some times a good song can be taken to a magic place by an incredible singer and this is a case in point. I assume you have listened to the original it doesn’t hit the scale of this version 💜💜💜
@@gabrielgatsby The other version is better but she tries more to convey the meaning of the words. So she sings more to point but still the other version is better. It is just that this is the poppy version and the other is psychedelic-techno-jazz - prog version.

Off the scale....Mind-blowingly perfect. R.I.P. Donna. You are missed.
I think this was one of her performance where she said I'm gonna do it before I die..... and she did. I love you Donna Summer ❤
My my my,, Always loved this song, but this version is through the roof.❤❤❤

It's crazy. Can't believe I've never seen it before. She is beyond transcendent.

Best performance of this song by Donna I've seen yet. The orchestra, the singers-everything just never fails to give me the chills. Just beautiful!
needed to build up more smoothly to the climax I think, too much noise from the start - like say the Wilson sisters' rendition of Stairway to Heaven ?
