Hi Karen Marie ,I never do make nine ,simply because I have no idea what to make , I’ve been sewing for so many years now ,and I’m happy were my wardrobe is at the moment .I really don’t need to sew any more garments just because of the sake of it , I have couple of garments cut up waiting for me to sew them up ,but I wait little while because I already have so much stuff to choose from. You have done well with your almost make nine ❤
Excellent job. I agree with the switch from specific garment commitments to more broad goals. I don’t sew but my knitting goals for the year are to finish the projects I have on the go and to end the year with less yarn in stash than I’m beginning it. With limited storage space at home this is essential!!
Hi Karen Marie, Happy New Year to you and your lovely family 🎊🎉. I think you did well for your make nine and you learnt things on the way. You should definitely remake the skirt... I think it really suits you👌. It's a pattern that I have admired for a while and must try 🥰. I also love the Ilford jacket. I totally understand why you don't want to commit to a make nine this year and look forward to seeing what takes your fancy👍 🙏😘
@@sallydingle321 Happy New Year to you, too, Sally! Yes, that is a good way to look at it. I did learn quite a few things, and I am going to be more mindful about fabric choices in the future. Yes, I really want to make another Emma shirt, and Andrea from Beyond the pink door has a lovely sewalong that makes it much easier, too. I hope you have a go at it. ❤️
Hi Karen Marie. Found today's vlog really interesting. I have never done a make nine but I have tried to do a number of the sewing challenges that happen throughout the year, However, I don't think I have ever been able to actually complete a challenge (well I finished one I think?!) and I suspect the same would happen with make 9 as I get distracted by shiny things like new pattern releases! BUT, I have decided on a word for the year that will be my guide for sewing, life etc and that's growth. I want to grow in my confidence (I am NOT a confident sewer), grow in my skills, grow my knowledge of my machines etc etc. So to that end I am embarking on my first pair trousers . Now don't get excited or fall over laughing. I am starting off gently (is that even possible with trousers?). I"m making the Pattern Emporium walking boldly pants. Oh finally tested negative for Covid, so between watching your vlog and that result, it's been a good day! PS: 39/40 degrees here today in Melbourne Australia. Minus 14 degrees sounds appealing🥵🌞
@@JulieH1958 Thanks, Julie! Oh, my! I don’t know how you survive in such hot weather! It’s - 20 C here today 😊. Sending you a cool breeze from the north. I like your word. Growth seems like the perfect approach. Good luck with your trousers! It’ll be the start of many 😉⭐️
@@charlotteclark-calderon9733 Ah! Well, I have a couple of pure wool sweaters that create static, too, but I have never had that with fwool fabric before. I have only experienced that with fabrics with acrylic or polyester content. And the skirt is really crazy static, so I assumed it had a polyester content.
Happy new year!! The goals instead of make 9 is a good idea! There is no way I could choose 9 patterns in January for the whole year! I’m far too drawn to the latest shiny thing 😂😂😂 Hope all is well x
So sorry you don't like your white blouse. I love it! It would look super cool with a pair of jeans and some ballet flats. It definitely has a Sézane vibe! It's more for spring of course but I really hope you give it one more chance 😉
I’m trying a make 9 this year and I’m eager to see how it goes. I did goals last year and found it to be really helpful for the most part. Sometimes I’d totally forget about them but I did a few update videos to keep me on track
I think you did really well, I managed 2 out of 9, I just move on to new and shiny! Don't think this is the tight challenge for me going forward., I will stick to monthly planning, filling gaps and shopping my stash. What does work for me is working in colour capsules, so I have things that go together as I mainly wear separates.
I think you were successful with your make 9, even if you didn't make all 9 garments. You did learn many things, and have tried some new pattern companies! I was wondering if you might like the Atelier Jupe blouse better if you were to dye it a soft lilac or something close to what you were wearing in the video? What about a different colored collar for the Ilford Jacket? Would that make it more appealing to wear?
@@lorrainedraper8346 Thank you, Lorraine! Yes, a soft lilac would be a good idea! I haven’t been able to make the Ilford yet, and I cut a hood for this one, but I agree that changing the color of the thing closest to the face is often a good idea. 😊 Have you done that, if something isn’t quite your colour?
I'm hoping to do some embroidery in 2025. And I want to make a sewing caddy and take it to a social sewing event, my first! But I really should just do the sewcial sewing irrespective of the caddy... except I get overwhelmed packing for a sewcial eeeekkkkk anyway, don't mind me! Good luck in 2025!😍
@madebykarenmarie I should be doing Adam's because I think it's a simplified version of the ByAnnie one but I already bought the ByAnnie pattern so I'm giving myself a pep talk telling myself I can do it!! Hahaha hopefully I don't want to stuff it into my Closet Core Pouf before it's finished 🤣
I’m really intrigued by your comments on the Stella dress - I’m very nervous of drawstring waist as my fear is that the fabric will shift around in wear and just be annoyingly bulky - but it sounds like I may be worrying unnecessarily? My guess is though that the fabric choice is important - the samples shown on the site look like crepe de chine or similar. What fabric did you use? Btw, love your blogs!,, 😊
@@moira7083 Thanks, Moira! ❤️ I love the Stella, and I haven’t had any issue with the drawstring. Mine is a viscose twill or similar (it’s deadstock, so I’m not quite sure). It has a heavy, good drape. The instructions say that you can ise self fabric for the tie, or just use a string. I made the drawstring from the same dabric. No eorries :) I would go for something like a viscose 😊
How about a different make nine instead of a pattern, choose a garment, either for you, the kids or your husband? Do you have a good pattern for a men’s shirt to recommend? I want yo sew my husband a shirt ☺️
@@karinassyrom I have considered it, but I think I’ll just go with the flow this year 😅😊. The Wardrobe by me Jensen shirt was a nice project. I made that for my husband for Christmas, and it had a good fit for him.

Ohh the Grading!

You too, Zelda! :)
I am looking for a little push too.❤

I have several wool sweaters and they surprisingly create STATIC. Your grey skirt IS probably wool.
