    If I transplant my hydrangea this spring to a better location will it still give me summer blooms?

    The endless summer are beautiful! How far apart did you plant to make a hedge?

      I’m glad you liked the endless summer hydrangea hedge . I planted them around 3-4 feet apart from each other .

    Though I love hydrangeas, growing them in Z8b Austin, TX was futile given that we had water restrictions. Now in Z8a Greenville, SC there is rain! Also existing hydrangeas. I think some are Endless Summer because there were blue flower heads when we moved in November 1. What a change from dry and hot TX.

      Hi Kathryn , that is so interesting . So happy you are enjoying your Endless Summer hydrangeas ( what a difference the rain can make ) . You might also want to consider grwoing Limelight hydrangeas since they do great in your new neck of the woods . 🌸🌸

    Hi. I am in Dorset in England. 😊 Thanks for a very useful video. I have a number of young limelight hydrangeas, which I thought would flower this year. Now I know not to be disappointed if they don't.

      Glad it was helpful!hi Pauline 👋 Thanks for checking in from across the pond 🌎🤗👏🌻 . Limelights are one of my favorite hydrangeas to grow . I have a feeling you may actually see blooms even in a young plant . Limelight hydrangeas are blooming machines 😁🤗🌸

    This is so helpful! I’m new to all gardening & planted endless summer hydrangeas last year. I put down a weed protector sheet around them and covered with mulch. Is that a bad idea? I noticed you don’t have those. Thank you!

    So very happy I learned this from you years ago and it worked wonders 😊 but I think the frost got to my hydrangeas this year and because of the mild weather they started to get buds then a cold snap, so it's growing green leaves underneath but doesn't look good for the old wood I think I should just wait it out

    Thanks for this very informative video. I’m pretty new to hydrangeas and planted a little Limelight last year which gave some lovely blooms and I even managed to dry some. We’ve had a pretty hard winter here in SE England so I’m not sure how well it has done. It’s looking pretty dead although I haven’t pruned it yet. Will have to be patient and keep my fingers crossed!

      Hi Elaine , you are very welcome . Little Limelight is an awesome hydrangea , congratulations on choosing this beauty or your garden . My limelights also look pretty dead this time o year but that is normal since they are dormant . I'll bet your hydrangea comes back with loads of new flower blooms by early summer . 🌸🤗

    Hi kelly. Thank you for your information. I'm curious about the changing color of hydrangea. I have a hydrange which the color is green and little bit of pink. Is it possible to turn it to blue or full pink?
    Thank you in advance.

    How would I prune my lime light hydrangea to get it to look like yours in this video?

    • @KellyLehman
      @KellyLehman  Год назад

      Super simple , most years i leave it alone . the only pruning i do is when i cut loads of blooms on two foot stems for massive flower arrangements . if i see the hydrangea is not giving me as many blooms as previous years , then i will prune it back by 1/3 in early spring . i dont fertilize since my soil is pretty good . Good luck growing your limelight👍

    Thank you for this educational video👍can we use phoshporus fertilizer for getting more and bigger blossoms from our hydrangeas? Thanks in advance.

    • @KellyLehman
      @KellyLehman  Год назад +1

      So nice of you. You are very welcome . The fertilizer game is a l little tricky . If your hydrangeas are blooming and seem healthy I would not fertilize . Phosphorus does often promote bloom growth but applying too much can cause problems .
      You can consider getting a soil test to see if any nutrients are lacking in your soil and then add them if necessary .
      I know a popular fertilizer many gardeners us for their hydrangeas is rosé fertilizer.

    So, I have several hydrangeas but don't know their names and they get filter sun. It gets very hit here in the summer can be high 90' and even a few days in the 100's. So they are under my thickets they bloom but only once. Soon be not prune them at all to get two blooms. My limelight is only 2 years old and not many blooms can I expect more in the coming years, also they are all in big pots.

    • @KellyLehman
      @KellyLehman  Год назад

      Hi Ruth , if there is a way to get them more sunlight it may be worth moving them . Most hydrangeas need about 6-8 hours of sunlight to give maximum blooms . Limelights thrive in the sun .
      Also , consider getting larger pots each year since the roots grow a lot in a season and if the plant is getting root bound it will not thrive .
