From Maryland zone 7b,,,,,Pine needle also changed the color of the hydrangeas, I have a summer endless hydrangea "white blushing white hydrangea" and I added pine needle and it is turning blue light a soft blue, the same flower has two different colors in it,. The same cluster I can see half kind of light blue the other part white. Thanks for the tips, have a good weekend.
Niceeeeeee hydrangea tip . I am going to try it out . Sound like the pine needles will cause the soils PH to lower so it will be more acidic and turn my hydrangeas blue . Thank you for sharing this 🌸
Just found your wonderful videos and am learning so much!! Thank you for creating these beautiful teachings for all of us. I am from Brazil but live in MD and am working on propagating our hydrangeas. Thanks to you, I think I we will be successful!
💜 Love it Kelly!!! Here in Reading, Pennsylvania, I have deep purple hydrangeas that turn lighter blue... right now they are in the deep purple stage. The pink look fabulous, so I might try the egg shell's, but I love the deep purple and don't have room to plant more!
I just threw away 3 pounds of coffee because I don’t like that brand anymore. I’m digging it out and putting it on my blue hydrangeas to make them deeper blue. Thank you so so much.
I get so many compliments on my hydrangeas because they’re some of the most beautiful blue and most of the ones that you see are pink. Mine are blue year after year.
Great video as always. Can you please do a video on causes for different yellowing of leaves. It’s only on the lower leaves and definitely not chlorosis.
This is the most informative video about the PH for hydrangeas that I have found. I’m new to the plant. We live in NJ purchased Endless Summer last year, the color was beautiful! This year, they are colorless 😢. I’ve been using coffee grounds, but it’s a slow process and not much change yet. I purchased Aluminum Sulfate yesterday and will try what you suggested. Thank you for this video 😊❤
Hi again I have one light pink and planted a cutting from my nephew and his was pinky blue so it came out pink I will try the coffee to see if it will change into blue 🤞
I'm in Seattle, WA and just discovered your fun and informative channel! We drink a lot of fresh ground coffee here, and one year I spread my spent coffee grounds around my large hydrangea shrub almost every day from fall to spring, and the normally light blue blooms were a deep gorgeous cobalt 💙 blue that year!
Where I live in Japan (Chiba) hydrangeas and rhododendron are everywhere, in gardens and at the side of the road. There are varieties I have never seen before, variegated and amazing colours. I love the hydrangea because my grandmother grew them in her garden in London and I remember from when I was a child that she put rusty nails in the soil. I have just started taking cuttings to propogate for myself and have watched your video explaining how to do that. Thank you for that.
Thank you Kelly and lol with the bloopers. 🌈💜🌎✌️ps my propagating has been successful and the mother plant is back to a beautiful green. I quit watering her so much. Now I think I'll make one of them pink. Love this tip!
Here in 8b Central Texas we're under heat advisories. We have already had 29 days of triple-digit temperatures and August is coming. We're in survival mode, so it is wonderful to see gardens blooming elsewhere. Your hydrangeas are stunning in all their colors, which gives you greater opportunities in flower arranging. It's also great to see how you rely on perennials, a long-term investment, for garden structure.
Watching in San Diego! I actually watched because I love the look of a bush with multiple colors. I have a Merritt supreme pink, will it naturally have pink, purple, and blue or how do u go about cultivating a shrub with all three colors? 🙏🏼
Hi Kelly, just found you and subscribed. From Northern Nevada. I Love Hydrangeas but the 2 I've had in my yard for 20+ years rarely get flowers but gorgeous greenery,, I think they are in the wrong location on the East side but dont want to move them.. I just planted a Little Lime Hydrangea on the South side so crossing my fingers it takes hold and gets beautiful flowers
Hi Kim , I created a video explaining some reasons why hydwtangeas don’t bloom . I hope you find it helpful Hydrangeas Care Tips | Why Aren’t My Hydrangeas Blooming? | Hydrangea ➡️ ruclips.net/video/4Bpe0uPKuZM/видео.html Good luck with your Little Lime hydrangea
Hello,...Awesome ...From Sweden thanks for sharing this information. This year just noticed my blue hydrengea turned to purple pink color after unstable end of winter into spring so I will try your advices this fall to get the blueish flowers back next season. Do you have any advices to increase the size of the flowers?
Wow Kelly that really helped me understand how and why the hydrangeas have different colors. I love the purple too. Can you give me ideas why my limelight hydrangea has cured dry leaves? I gave it miracle grow and chealated iron the day before and then we got a hot day around 100 and the next day it’s leaves were all cured up. I watered it a lot but I had been all season. Was it the miracle grow or the heat? Thank you so much!
Hi Debra , thank you for your kind comment . The leaves may have curled because of a combination of the fertilizer and big heat . I see you said you watered it but is there a chance the hydrangea was dehydrated when you fertilized? It may just be the high temps that caused it . Keep up with the watering but the f the soil if moist don’t overwater or the leaves will curl up from too much water . Good luck 🌸
I planted a purple hydrangea in 2019 after my brother passed away in April. It was beautiful. The following year I got beautiful leaves but no blooms, again in 2021 the plant leaves came in beautiful but I'm still not getting any blooms. Do you have any suggestions? My husband got me a blue one this year for mithers day it's hanging from my back porch, the blooms have all turned green he's convinced I killed it what is your opinion on that. I plan to plant it by my gazebo but if you think the green means I did kill it I'm going to cry. Thank you in advance for your help with this matter. 🌸
Hello Kelly. I keep watching your videos over and over again from Salt Lake city, Utah, Zone 7a. One of my questions is: Can the Invincibelle Mini Mauvette color be changed from Pink to Blue ? Thanks in advance.
Hi Kelly! Viewing from Pittsburgh, PA! Always enjoy your videos! Your hydrangeas look beautiful! 🥰 Loved the tos for changing colors--Especially the natural ways! Very cool! 💐🌿
Thanks Kelly! That was a very informative and enjoyable to watch. I just subscribed to your channel after watching, How to harvest sunflower seeds. I'm in North Carolina and I will continue to scroll through probably most of your videos. Thank you for sharing your great tips and knowledge. Seeing your flower farm in full bloom, keeps me motivated to grow flowers everywhere on our 42 acre farm. Learning and growing as we go. Your help is much appreciated. You Grow Girl! 🌸
Hi Kelly, Robert here from Cape Town. I am trying to keep my wife's garden going, not easy for me as she was a botanist and knew a lot more than I will ever know. I am trying to get pink and blue Hydrangea flowers separate in the garden, I believe adding Nitrate Acid or Phosphoric Acid will make them go blue. Is that true and how much should I add to them?
Thanks for your video Kelly. I have purple hydrangeas but I would like them a darker purple, how can I achieve this please? Would aluminum sulphate make them a deeper purple? I am in zone 8a in British Columbia, Canada
My Endless summer were purchased as blue but they've turned pink. I use Espoma but i just cant turn them back to blue. Is it worth testing soil ph? I live on the West Coast near beach. They really are gorgeous but they just wont budge towards blue
I noticed you were holding the proven winners in the pot. Do proven winners carry the endless summer variety as well? Reason I'm asking is because I thought "Endless Summer" was it's own brand and this variety is called bloomstruck. Please help me 😅I'm a little confused!
watching from South AFrica... it's spring overhere.. Great garden you have.. just bought 4 of them 'assorted colors'... still in the bud so no idea what color.. would love to have them white/baby blu.. any tips on that ? lime or coffe grinds ? Thanks !!! (the soil is now ph neutral)
Well, now I’m really confused because I bought two LA dream hydrangeas and they’re supposed to bloom all three colors. How do they bloom all three colors in the same soil and I bought them in a 4 inch pot and put them in new soil when I upgraded them to a 6 inch pot Really confused now how are I gonna get all three colors with one soil? Thank you
That is confusing. I did a little searching online for your question and found this information on LA Dreamin Hydrangeas. “ The Hydrangea macrophylla 'LA Dreamin’ can tolerate soils with different Ph without affecting color.” Source 👉 plantaddicts.com/la-dreamin-hydrangea?sku=1007391-pc&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwjeuyBhBuEiwAJ3vuoTzTOWxZ8Ymcqy77Lf_24xUTd9OUq8lOoCB4rjwgSmxERKeltFDCGhoCYpsQAvD_BwE I see this hydrangea is advertised showing the different colored flowers on the same plant so I guess the ph altering that can be done to change the colors of most Mophead hydrangeas don’t apply to this variety . Super question . Thanks for sending it 👍🌸
My hydrangea puts out beautiful buds. It’s pack to the max, but my problem is they don’t bloom all the way. I am in North Carolina in heavy clay soil. I haven’t fertilize them. They deep blue color. Can anyone suggest what could be possibly wrong with them. They are close to my ac unit and get midday to evening sun from south side. The plant has grown double every season. It’s just the buds not blooming all the way.
I would try to amend the soil so there are no water drainage issues . Adding materials such as organic compost, pine bark, composted leaves and gypsum can improve the clay soil . I would also do a soil test to see if the nitrogen in your soil is too high . Even though you did not fertilize your hydrangea , the soil may be high in nitrogen which may impact the blooms . Good Luck . Thank you for checking in from North Carolina 🌸🌎😊👏🌻
You said the alkaline is what turns them pink, but I thought it was the other way around. I’m brand new to hydrangeas. I bought a white one and a purple one. I want them to stay the same as they are. My soil is naturally alkaline. How can I do this.
I don't get it how your hydrangeas grow so big and healthy when mine dies in the sun. I changed her location three times now and Im getting frustrated with it. The leaves look burned and the plant wilts under afternoon sun here in Ohio. I water it often and still no flowers at all in two years since I purchased it. Should I plant it in shade? Yours seems to be just fine, with no shade, I don't understand this plant at all.
There a possibility they may be getting overwatered . Overwatering will cause the leaves to wilt so it looks like the plant needs water even though it really needs to just dry out a bit . I have my mop heads in morning sun and afternoon shade beginning around 2pm

Thank you very much!
I’m in Ontario 45 minutes from Toronto my hydrangeas pink lost the pink lustre looking so dull what do i do ???
Where do we buy this pink or blue soil at
Why are my pink hydrangeas turning green? Is it iron deficiencies or just need to make the soil more alkaline??
Hi Kelly my lime colored hydrangea turned white when planted. Why? originally It was white with lime hues..now its completely white
I have a blue Hydrangea and I want it deep purple. How do I change it, exactly?
Hello from Michigan ! Can you change the white hydrangeas into blue?
Hi Charlie Baby , no they won’t turn blue . But a lot of them will turn green in fall on their own 🌸
Can you not use baking soda to reduce acidity??
I’m from Canada
Can leomo juice add more acidity???
From good old Hereford England

My hydrangeas started out purple, then blue, and now theyre green 🥲😂 Why did this happen?! What does this mean???
