    Thank you, Kelly!!! I’ve learned so much from you and my favorite flowers!! I’m a first time hydrangea mama as of this summer, and am constantly worried if I’m doing the right thing and giving the needed care. Your channel has been a lifesaver. I just clipped my blooms this past weekend on my endless summer, but did not prune. I’ll pick up the dead leaves that fall and insulate the plants in a couple of weeks with leaves, hay, & pine needles. I’ve heard this was best for the plants during harsh New England winters (I’m in MA). Also, I’ve been saving coffee grounds to put down in the soil in the spring for acidity and a boost in color. Is this fact or fiction?
    Thanks again, love all your videos and words of wisdom!

      Hi Debra , I have a lot of crepe myrtle trees and I only cut them back when they start to get overgrown on my driveway. Other wise I leave them alone and they come in beautiful each year . You f you do need to tidy them up , trim them when they are dormant in late winter or early spring . 🌸

    Hi Kelly- I think my hydrangeas are dying. They had some fungal infects but I read to wait till spring to treat. But now, zone 7 getting cold and they look worse with completely brown dead looking leaves. Should e just cut them all off? There are very few unaffected leaves. Thanks for your help.

    Kelly, My Annabelle lost it's leaves and has this little tiny balls of green on each branch. It's obvious there is a problem but I don't know what to do. I told my husband I was going to cut it down a bit and maybe next season it will bloom again. He looks naked with little balls of tiny tiny green somethings up and down the stem.

    I just started growing hydrangeas, most of my are 1 or 2 years old and about 2 feet tall. Recently (beginning of June) I've seen something is eating the tips of my paniculata hydrangeas, I won't have much flowers this year for sure. Have you had this problem or what do you know about it? I don't think the rabits can reach that high and I don't see deers here. Thanks,

    • @KellyLehman
      @KellyLehman  Год назад

      HI WIll , dont prune back the plant . Many people cut off next years blooms by pruning them at the wrong time . Next years flowers are being put in place now on the old wood . You should get the first batch of hydrangea blooms from endless summer in early to mid summer on the old wood stems . Then you should get a second set of hydrangea flowers in late summer from the new growth stems .

    Once planted in the ground how often should they be watered.... last week we had about 4-5 days of rain and now for the last 4-days it has been sunny with temps in the high 50's I felt the soul it feels moist but of course I can't put my finger down far enough to really check. Should I water it everyday?
    Thank you.

    • @KellyLehman
      @KellyLehman  Год назад +3

      Hi April , i would not water every day or you may get root rot . Since temps have cooled off , once or twice a week may be fine . Give a deep root watering at the base of the plant . If there is a lot of rain , then skip the watering since mother nature took care of it for you .

    Which hydrangea Kelly do you cut all the way back in spring?

    • @KellyLehman
      @KellyLehman  Год назад

      Hi Helena, you can cut back the hydrangeas that come in on new growth in late winter or early spring . Those are your panicle hydrangeas like limelight and smooth hydrangeas like incrediball and Annabelle . Most if the time I don’t even cut those back . When I do , I only prune back a third of the plant . 🌸

      Hi Joseph , so sorry but I am not set up to sell them , however , I do get many of mine on sale for 40-50 percent off this time of year at local garden centers and home depot and lowes . You are better off getting the entire plant to put in the ground this time of year . I also get a lot of hydrangea from Proven WInners . They will ship to your house if you are in there shipping circle .

    • @KellyLehman

      Hi Dory , hydrangeas are pretty tough. As long as there are strong roots lleft in tact even after you cut back some of the root system it may still be ok .
