    Plant rescue is fun, but I just do not understand why stores do not take better care of their stock. They should not carry plants at all if they are going to just let them sit and die. What a waste of living things.

    • @rockspoon6528
      @rockspoon6528 5 лет назад +19

      @@bkrbkrl you don't understand, most of that stock is not owned by the nursery. It's owned by the actual growers, so the store doesn't really lose anything directly, it's all indirect, as the grower will raise its prices if stores keep killing stock. The growers also audit the store and fine or ban them if conditions are egregious. It's a horribly wasteful system and it made me furious, just telling you how it is.

    Good morning! I had watched this video of yours a little while back and love it. It was inspiring. Went to Wal-Mart yesterday. Wasn't expecting anything (early in the season) and there they were... EIGHT half-dead hydrangea plants with about two small hydrangea in each little decorative box. They were obviously meant for folks to buy them for Mother's Day gifts. About 10.00 a piece. Half the blooms were brown, drooping leaves and blooms. Told the manager he wouldn't be able to sell these at full price like this. I got them 10% off!!! Brought them home, gave them all a trim and watered them well. By this morning... they had perked right up! So, planting them today or tomorrow in a flower bed I wasn't going to work until next year. lol This was a gold mine. 8 young hydrangea plants neglected and left for dead and will fill that flower bed with color very soon! :)

      @adhab 5 лет назад +5

      You’ll probably drown the roots. His way slowly soaks it up from the bottom of the pot. Idk I’m just guessing

    • @possums1010
      @possums1010 5 лет назад +8

      @@adhab I've worked in greenhouses, & when something is that dry it needs immediate help. you soak the whole pot in a bucket until there's no air bubbles. can't count on the soil & roots taking the water up from the bottom

      How can it possibly even work better? The objective was to save the plant and that's exactly what he did.. Maybe your way makes the plant grow chocolate coins or something..😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🙄🙄

    OMG, Greg, YOU ARE THE ONE that I`ve been looking for! I have bought a house with a patio and I love flowers, but I don`t know the FIRST THING about how to keep them alive. I have lost a lot of money due to that ignorance. I`ve been googling for years, but your video is EXACTLY what I prayed for. A one-step how to not let the hydrangea that I got from my son at Mother`s Day die before I got to plant it in the soil. In just 2 days, although I watered it, it started to look exactly like the plant you showed! It had lost all its color, the leaves dried out, and I thought it was hopeless. But you gave me hope. I am so grateful! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, from Freedom, PA, USA!

    Do you keep them in the shade after you watered them ? Where is it best to keep them ? Could I keep them indoors ? Will the hot sun kill them ? Thanx !

    This plant is called hydrangea. The soaking thing works with it. Not with other plants.

      @Hineni John3:16 I had forgotten to water my small orange tree for weeks and then I left for a few days and it looked completely dead when I came home after some hot and sunny days. Then I cut of all the branches that had turned brown and left those green ones that still looked alive. It was a bit of a haircut, but leaves and flowers came back in no time..

    That cluster of flowers that died that you trimmed off did they ever come back? I'm having the same problem. I bought a beautiful pot from Walmart and within a week half the flowers have died so I was thinking of doing the same thing.

      Check the roots by removing the plastic pot. White roots are a good sign. It means the plant is healthy. Professional growers water their plants from underneath, meaning they soak water, like in the dish example. Depending on the weather they do that every few days. Hanging leaves is a sign to water.
