The world's best windsurfers competed in mission number two of windsurfing's toughest contest as nine-metre waves and storm-force winds battered the Tasmanian coastline near Marrawah this weekend.
MARRAWAH (Tasmania) -- Tasmania, part of the Commonwealth of Australia, really turned it on with two days of mind-blowing windsurfing action for the second mission of windsurfing's most-challenging contest. The world's best sailors have been hunting down massive storms around the globe with six athletes remaining in the competition to be crowned Red Bull Storm Chase Champion.
Thomas Traversa, Dany Bruch, Leon Jamaer and Marcilio Browne defied the storm most impressively of all and qualified for the third and final mission.

Crap film editing. They keep cutting the scenes when you'd like to see what actually happened on the wave or when the rider got air.

i will check it out right now. I prefer regular. Red Bull is all about extreme and radical, which I truly marvel at. Red Bull jocks are a mind-blow, but the rank and file active people like u, I admire them a lot.
Looks like a cool thing to do. I've never done it, but growing up, I saw all the windsurfers and they looked so fun.

The day before this event was held the Cap Sorell wave buoy (the closest wave buoy to the event site) peaked at 18 metres, and the Cape Grim wind station had gusts of 87 knots. And these guys thought, "let's go for a sail"

The people who seem to do it are very strong. I've also heard some of those urban myths about windsurfers taken far out to sea and being rescued after mighty winds and currents.
There was windsurfing in the Bay Area when I was growing up.
This didn't go well, from the look of it.

not really .... its a bigger swell but it'S like 20 knots less wind
I was happy when I was surfing in the pool...
When I`m watching it I think of some tutorial video in which the last step was always "Spot the landing", it alwasy sound riridiculous to me. But in this case it is the hardest part I guess. :)
