I had a bottle of this last year absolutely loved the fruity palate, It really reminded me of bruised red apples. Like it so much I gifted a bottle to my buddy for his 45 birthday. He was thrilled. Totally agree with you dummies! Great dram
When I toured Glenfiddich Distillery I saw their "solera". It is more like an infinity bottle than a Spanish solera. I've been introducing my brother to whisky and I poured him a dram of the Glenfiddich 15 Solera - he liked it!
Me too. Showed both the glennfiddich and balvennie warehouses by the daughter of the master distiller. The draught straight from the solera vat(whilst illegal fro the customs and excise man) was invigorating!!! Decent dram.
The Glenfiddich bottle is awesome. I just picked up a Wee Beastie and have some Ardbeg 10 to compare it with. Just off the neck pour it seemed like a young 10. I will wait for the Beastie bottle to go down some before making the comparison to the 10. Also due to budget concerns (have been unemployed for a year now) picked up a GlenGrant 12. It's delicious even off the neck pour.✌
Saw your review for the GlenGrant 10, I think Bart may have influenced them, because the bottle I have is clear now. I'm sure you would prefer the 12 also, the ABV is 43%, instead of 40. The price here in Washington state was still $36, and we usually have higher prices than the rest of the country.
Hey Guys: I enjoy Glenfiddich 15! Indeed, I poured a dram to enjoy with you guys!! I totally agree with you a very tasty whiskey at 40%. The Solera system definitely add something. Here are my original notes: SLÁINTE Mike GLENNFIDDICH 15 Solera Speyside Scottish Single Malt Whisky COLOR: Golden Brown with many Legs moving Slowly Down the Snifter. NOSE: After the Rich Raisin Nose at Bottle opening; there were Floral Notes and Sweet Bread Dough and Malt. The Floral Notes grow as the Whiskey sits in the Glass. PALATE: Light Sweetness, mixed with Light Pepper. As I Swirl the Whisky in my mouth Floral Notes Come to the Fore and Sweet Malty notes arise as I take air in. FINISH: Drying Sweetness mixed with Slight Pepper. This is a Beautiful Floral and Fruity Dram. Perfect for Spring and Summer or anytime one wants to be transported to Spring/Summer. I was transported back to the Tasting as I enjoyed my Glass tonight. Love the Fruity/Floral Nose that invites one to savor the Flavor and Slowly Explore the Sweet Floral, Fruity Complexity. I was Blown away by the Raisin notes that hit my Nose as I opened the Bottle.
This one is on my list. Some stores price it a bit more than you guys can get it. But I am gonna buy it. Some day. I don't go for cask strength much but love stuff more in the 46-55 range. So this 40%er slid down the list while I buy others, but I might sneak it back up there lol.
I picked up a bottle, approx. eight years ago, after Ralfy recommended it. I found it to be very woody, didn't care for it. Recently got a bottle for a gift and it was excellent.
Wow! That hat change had me wondering if I'd had a dram too many. Great review, lads! I've always got a bottle of this one open in the bar. It's just easy and very pleasurable drinking. And you're right about certain whiskies which are bottled at 40% and offer not only good drinking but also great value. I regularly enjoy a Glengoyne 10yo, an Old Pulteney 12yo, a Glenmorangie 10yo, a Cragganmore 12yo, as well as a range of blended scotches that are bottled at 40% and suit me as everyday drinkers. They keep me grounded and remind me constantly that whisky is there for the fun and enjoyment of it. With these drams that's a lesson effortlessly learned. Cheers!
I think some people, yes many maybe most, get on a Ralfy mantra kick when it comes to SMWs, when it comes to ABV, Non Chilled Filtration, and Natural colouring. It's okay to have some qualities you are looking for, but avoid becoming the mantra snobs. I had to break the mantra snob mode, and was successful a few years ago.
There is nothing wrong with 40% whiskey. I mean if 43 and 46 can be awesome, then a few more percent down is not breaking the whisky. When you ice whisky your making even the highest proofs below 40 after a few minutes of melting.
This one is a bit too thin for me. It’s perfectly pleasant. But for a fruit bomb I think Arran 14 is much better at a similar price. Have you ever reviewed an Arran yet? The 14 and 18 are great and underrated.
So let me get this straight Dummies... you guys give the Ardbeg Traigh Bhan a 91(Scott) and 89 (Bart) , but this Glenfiddich piece of @! you guys mark a point higher each...??? Am I in an alternate universe right now??? I've had the Glenfiddich 12 and 14 within the last 6 months... and because of my experience with those 2 I won't even waste my time with the 15 (unless it's another sample from a friend). Again, just can't see scoring this higher than Traigh Bhan... but I still love you guys, Cheers!!! P.S. what ever happened to the Cask Strength Peat Shootout??? Lagavulin 12 vs Ardbeg Corryvrecken vs Laphroaig Cask Strength...
Look for a series coming up called "Back to the Basics" and you'll see several entry bottles including Glenfiddich 12. a newer shootout than the 3 peated ones we did?
@@ScotchTestDummies A peated cask strength shootout. I don't think you guys ever did one. I'm sure people would love to see that, Lagavulin 12, Laphroaig CS and Ardbeg Corryvrecken etc.

Just a beautiful smooth friendly single malt. Extra spice at backend makes it slightly interesting but this is just reliable and goood.
agreed!
Great work, boys! 40% is not a deal breaker and I'd add neither are blends. Appreciate y'all reviewing some easy to find bottles. Cheers!
thanks Robert
Deep down in my closet you can find this bottle. Maybe 5 years ago I got it. Still there, and I'm still a non whisky drinker. Love your videos.
👍
go get it!

a long time ago we reviewed the 10 Glen Grant and i think it was a decent dram for the money as well.

sneak it back up there marc, its worth it.
I was just gifted this yesterday. I thought it was very good.
nice gift and it is good!

your palate probably changed or that could have been an early batch maybe?
Free tastes better!😃🍺🍸🍷🍹
I'm just liking for the intro! Lol core range style!
haha thanks Daniel.
Excellent review
👍
Great review guys! I just wish they would charge a few bucks more and bottle this at 43% or higher.
46% would be nice!
Scotch Test Dummies indeed! That’s what I’d really like to see, but I’d happily settle for the 43%

most definitely
