Dear Brett, Thank you for this video. I'm a 15 year old boy and my father passed away when I was 10. My dad never taught me how to tie a tie or do alot of things most fathers do with thier sons. There were always some things my friends had shared with there dads that I was envious of and felt out of place when there were things I didnt know how to do. Your channel has had alot of videos that have taught me to do some things that I'm sure my dad would have been very thankful for. Thank you very much and keep doing what you are doing do well.
This video saved me. I am a bit older but seldom have the reason to wear ties. Had to learn quick. Your demonstrations were very easy to follow. Thank you so much.
Now there's a young man every parents would like to have as a son. So nice, knowledgeable and handsome...and he knows how to tie a tie. What more can you ask.
I knew how to tie the four-in-hand knot, but did not know it by "The Schoolboy Knot" and found that quite ironic as I just used it the other day for my school picture! Great video by the way!
Thank you so much! I went to a wedding about a year and half ago, was frustrated that my father never showed me how to tie a tie, but this video saved my life! Today, I am going to get my picture taken for mothers day and I am very excited to tie a tie again! Thanks soooo much!
Thanks I once attend a debut about a year ago now. I watched a random video in youtube and after watching this I realized that the shelby knot is actually the thing I learned that time and was my first necktie knot.
@kenmasters007 Actually, if you look on the front of the tie about two thirds up from the wide end, you will see a diagonal seam, this seam is supposed to overlap the narrow end of the tie when you first begin tying the knot. Using this seam as a guide, the tip of the wider end will end up at your waist line when you're done.
Great video! Now is it just me or do these knots look very similar, even indistinguishable? It could very well be that I need to practice it on my guy to see the difference, but you tell me: could you tell a shelby from a half-windsor on a guy in an office or bar? Thanks! :)
I knew how to tie the full windsor. I might try the half, haha, I've got a 19 and 1/2" neck, and a long torso(compared to my limbs), I usually have to tie my tie 2 or 3 times before I get it the right length, because I have to leave so much of the wide end down, and like you said, you don't want it too short, but too long is just as bad.
@kenmasters007 For proper length, I always make sure that the tip of the tie, from the wide-end touches the 4-way hemming on the bottom of my pants/slacks. If you look at the bottom of your pants, you'll notice that in the crotch area there is a spot where there is a cross-like hem. It looks like a plus sign (+). Yes, you'll look goofy doing it, but you'll look marvelous when it's all done!
I'll never forget one time I was going to an event with a bunch of friends, and almost nobody but me knew how to truly tie a tie so I tied like 5 guys' ties for them XD

Hey bro, how's life going? I'm 16 now and I feel the same (my dad isn't dead, just abusive and absent) and I wonder how you are doing now

So nice, knowledgeable and handsome...and he knows how to tie a tie. What more can you ask.
This is probably the best how to tie a tie video I've seen yet. I prefer the second knot.
I knew how to tie the four-in-hand knot, but did not know it by "The Schoolboy Knot" and found that quite ironic as I just used it the other day for my school picture! Great video by the way!
I like this guy and this is the best video on here so far, when it comes to tie tieing that is.
Thank you so much! I went to a wedding about a year and half ago, was frustrated that my father never showed me how to tie a tie, but this video saved my life!

Thanks for this video.
I just tied two of my own ties by myself today, using the first knot. :)

Woahh best video I've seen to tie a tie. Thanks!
The only video that I've successfully tired a tie from, thanks!
