I've done a half windsor my whole life (because that's what my dad taught me). It served me fine for school/formal functions. But I'm getting married tomorrow and I know the double windsor looks far better. Thank you for this video! I was able to learn on the first shot!
if you're looking for a hogwarts vibe the four in a hand OR Prince Albert knot is probably a better option. Double Windsor is alot more formal and if you look at the ties in Harry Potter most of the ties the student's have are four in a hand or Prince Albert and worn pretty loose around the collar with the top button undone. Of course its down to you at the end of the day, wear which knot you feel most comfortable in but if you're going for a more classic Hogwarts uniform vibe go for four in a hand or Prince Albert
Just wanted to thank you. My dad left when I was 2 so I've been struggling with ties my whole life. Just now I spent an hour trying and failing while watching other videos until I finally made it to yours and nailed it on the first try. Well almost nailed it, might have to make it a bit shorter 😅 I can't even explain why I've been failing so far, my knot just always turned out a little weird. So what I was trying to say is that I thank you from the bottom of my heart for making me feel like I've grown a little
The first person I asked to tie my tie was my grandfather. He had tied it in a very serious manner, as he was doing the most important task of the world, also combined with the happiness to tie the first tide of his grandchild. I always remember him each time I have to tie a tie. May he RIP...
Thank you. Helped me a lot I couldn't get the exact same shape of the tie ben; but got what I see my classmate does for me when I say her to knot my tie everytime. I am happy with it. I also learned to knot it without seeing your video after tieng it 3-4 times
Perfect combination of a quick delivery and detailed instructions. Very easy to follow along the first time, and not frustratingly slow for 3rd and 4th times.
I have been using the half Windsor for so long that I needed a refresher course on the double Windsor. The tip on tightening the tie is by far the best part of this video. You were not kidding. Great video sir!
an uncle took me under wing, taught me the Double Windsor Necktie knot. Used that even for my USCG uniform, and it did look good. Fifty years now since I used the knot, I forgot. Thanks for the refresher!
Literally the first time in my life I have been able to tie my own tie! THANK YOU, have had to have my uncle tie my tie for me my entire life....after watching a handful of other videos and only getting increasingly more frustrated YOUR VIDEO finally showed me in a way that I could follow along with. Thanks again!
In case you're wondering why I say left hand when it looks like my right, it is because this video is mirrored to make it easier to follow while facing the screen.
It confused me to no end. Being ambidextrous I was also perplexed as to which side of the body the broad part of the tie went. I seldom ever wear them and this was my first time with this type of knot.
yea so that makes it our right not yours read a book. Plus you look sloppy as hell shirt isn't your size belt is not lined up with the line from the buttons on the shirt cuff links scream cheap. I would rather take men's fashion advice from my 6 yr old daughter.
I know there are like 2 million views on this so I doubt my comment will be seen but I just have to say this was the best video after watching others for like 30 minutes. This was the only video that explained how to do it in such a way that allowed me to actually accomplish this feat on my own. Thank you. I now watch Thai video every time I need to tie a tie.
I wasn't sure if I was using a 4 in hand or Double Windsor knot so I thought I would check online and see... I have been tying a Double Windsor, BUT I have not been tying it to best advantage!! Thank you so much for sharing the tips and tricks of a more refined technique. Now I know where I can pause and pay closer attention to detail and how to better finish off the knot and I am very grateful to have found your video. Thank you!
I have struggled for so long trying to get this down pat. Thank you so much! I will no longer feel embarrassed not being able to do a double windsor knot for my ties.
KING!!! I DID IT ON MY FIRST TRY!!! The tiny windsor I usally did left 30 miles of tie dragging behind me. This one was absolutely perfect. I thought this 5'6" man needed a special tie but I guess I don't!!! YOU ROCK! Now I will cosplay Princiapl skinner with EASE!
Thank you so much. I could tie the best tie ever for my husband because of your video.I have been doing it for him since we got married but this time it was the best 👍👍
I was able to get the knot down but tightening it I kept messing up the knot! Thanks for that last tip, it really helped a lot! My fiancé even complimented on how good it looked :)
Thank you so much for this! Your instructions and tips were super easy to follow and i was able to tie the double windsor on my first try, to wear during an interview. Apparently this knot is used in the military too so definitely worth learning if you want a detail this like to be recognized! All to google images on how to tie this knot look intimidating and are hard to follow step-by-step, so this video was a godsend.
Thank you! As a lady Bartender, a necktie is part of my uniform. I thought there was only one way to tie a knot (half Windsor). This video was tremendously helpful and the Windsor is a much better looking, and functioning, knot.
Got a great tie after 2 tries my best one ever. Thanks a lot. Will wear it with a new shirt tomorrow at my great new job I started 4 days ago. It is work from home and I'm the only one in the team that dresses up. We are in online trainer and so others are sitting on their bed and very casual. I think my dressing up makes a good first opinion and also influences my new bosses and trainers. I can tell they cut me some slack because of it. Thanks again. When you dress up even for yourself it changes things.
this is the best video ever, iv been in cadets for nearly 2 years and i first tied my tie from this video and have never had to undo it because it was so good, thank you so much
Thank you. this was really easy. i have a party to attend after 1.5 hours later, this is the first video I clicked after my search. watched it first time, tried it, failed. watched it 2nd time, and tried it. Alhamdulillah! done. total time time spent; not even 15 minutes.. :D
What an awesome video! I was able to nail it on the second try and did a few more practice runs for confidence! If I hadn't rushed, the very first attempt would have been perfect. If you're having issues don't forget you can slow the video.
I watched so many tutorials and failed so many times to tie it correctly. For a while I stuck to the tie knot I already knew but today I wanted to try something different and thought that I'd give it a go (again). However after watching your tutorial I surprisingly managed to tie it properly on the first try. That says something. Thank you. 🙏
THANK YOU!! So many other vids are too fast and confusing. I'd go 4" below the hand. The threading with the forefinger is absolutely key. Great tutorial.
I really appreciate you. You've save my time & life. From now, When my university presentation have been going on, I don't need the help of others to tie a tie.
This was the only helpful video I found I tried to follow 15 times with other people showing the regular Windsor and it's screwed up every time this is the only one that came out right the first time thank you
Thank you.I was attempting to tie my son's Harry Potter Gryffindor tie. Thanks to your video,I did.It was not my first attempt, as I watched another video and did not pull it off...as I watched your video,I pulled it off on the first attempt.Well taught. Thanks again.
As someone who has always had trouble tying any and every knot (including shoe laces)....Thank you! I just watched multiple other videos on how to tie this knot and in every case they moved too fast, making it impossible to keep up, and had to start them over each and every time. You on the other hand moved at a pace that was easy to keep up with, actually explained things, and those tips at the end to help adjust things were icing on the cake. Thank you!
Finally could make a double windsor in less than 30 minutes LOL! Thank you so much, simply the best tie knot video I've ever found! I'll save this to my favorites so I will never get in trouble doing knots again!
This was by far the best video I found for how to tie a double windsor knot. Totally concise without any extra info that would make it confusing plus some useful tips like the thumb roll when tightening the tie. Thank you very much!
Well THANK YOU! I just tied my first tie for my boyfriend on Christmas Eve for the midnight mass service. Was able to do it on my first try!! Great instruction!! Thank you!!
This is the first time ever that I feel confident enough to use the tie I tied, instead of asking my dad to do it for me. Thanks a lot!

CONGRATS man hopefully your marriage went well!!!
Congrats on that!!
How’s the marriage going?
cool, only took me about 40 minutes to get it
edit: I watched several videos and this is this video that actually helped me do it
Jacob Amati only video that worked for me
Jacob Amati yeah me to...
yep same here helped me with my waiter uniform in collage
Same
same this one actually explained how to get a nice looking knot, every video i tried before, the knot looked horrible when i did it
all the men here are here for something formal and im just a teenage girl trying to wear a hogwarts uniform
Where did you buy it?
Woman + Tie = Very aesthetic!
literally me lmaoo

After doing it wrong for years I've finally done it correctly. Only took 9 years of my adult life but hey better late than never
Thank you, sir. Much appreciated. Gotta/gonna look sharp for my lil' lady's art show :)

As a man, I've finally perfected the Windsor Knot.
A man thanks another man.

Extremely relatable.
Great video. Got it on 3rd try. My teenage son has formal event and it’s his first time wearing a tie. He’s looking sharp now. Thanks
I bet he looked sharp.
In case you're wondering why I say left hand when it looks like my right, it is because this video is mirrored to make it easier to follow while facing the screen.
That may help for some - but the way my brain works having it mirrored makes it harder to follow. I’m used to looking at people in real life.
It confused me to no end. Being ambidextrous I was also perplexed as to which side of the body the broad part of the tie went. I seldom ever wear them and this was my first time with this type of knot.
Watch it in the mirror hahah.
