Linen Wool Blend Tie in Olive Green - gentl.mn/2kKPBdl
Ironically, the Half Windsor knot has nothing to do with the Windsor knot. Today, I'm wearing a Half Windsor knot with a green linen wool blend tie from Fort Belvedere which is on the thin side. It is a symmetrical knot, with a tie dimple included.
How to tie the Half Windsor knot:
    1. With the slim end on your right and the wide end on your left.
    - The slim end should be about a hand and a half above your waistband, the wide end goes to the right, over the slim end and back to the side it was originally at.
    2. Bring the tie up and go through the hole and go the opposite side so you have it back onto your right.
    3. Bring it back over to the left and front, pull it down and up, forming the knot.
    4. The wide end goes through the knot and for a dimple, pinch.
    5. Once the knot is forming, pull the slim end up and pull down underneath the knot and pinch.
    6. Form the knot you like and then pull it up.
    - With this tie knot, avoid wearing a tab collar or any collar bars and pins. I recommend a cutaway collar, spread collar, maybe medium spread thin ties.
    - For thicker ties, it may be daring, it's not going to be as big as the full Windsor knot.
    - For shorter men, get a short tie so you can tie a smaller knot that suits you, your height and your body.

My father taught me to tie a Windsor when I was 12. I'm 69 now, and this is the first time I've learned to tie a half-Windsor. Looks good. Feels weird.

0:15 Wow, very well tied. Nice shape, dimple, and you covered the fabric right above the button, which I consider a necessity. Well done!

An excellent video, thank you. I have struggled to get this elegant looking knot right for some time, but no longer thanks to practicising while watching this film. Thank you, my compliments.

I may have to try dimpling my tie. Saw it on the previous full Windsor tie style too. I have done my all to have a perfect curve or come for lack of a better word. I learned many different ways growing up since we wore uniforms & mostly so in secondary boarding school.
Half Windsor is the closest & works for any tie making it tighter or looser to get the right size. Thank you always for your experience.

Gentleman's Gazette Could you please tell me the length of the tie you are using?
I am only 5'8" but when I tie a half Windsor the long end falls at my belt buckle, but the short end is so short that it is not long enough to go through the loop in the back of the tie.
      What am I doing wrong?

Decided to try the knot for the first time today. I gotta say, the knot itself looks worse than other alternatives, but it creates an excellent dimple so I'm gonna keep it for today

My favorite tie knot. It is symetrical but not too big like full windsor. So basically it has all of the benefits of the 4 in hand and full windsor knot without their flaws.

Gentlemen you have the best channel. Sir i have a question please help me with this. Which is the proper starting position of the wide end of the tie, right or left? It depends on the dominant hand or on the type of the knot?

How far down your body should the very bottom of the tie end up when finished? Should the bottom of the tie be above your belt level, reach your belt level, or go down a bit below belt level? thanks

Thanks, I always say getting a dimple, first takes patience. Depending on the material and quality of your Neckwear will depend on your strategy for acquiring a nice dimple. Never go for perfection, it doesn't exist. Be satisfied and be yourself.

His way makes the most ergonomic sense since most people are right hand dominant. Left hand ends up spending most of its time simply holding the narrowed inside end of the tie and the right hand does the bulk of the actual work. Clear as mud??? :-)

I seriously hate that collar at 0.05 and I bet most other people do too. I have a 19" neck so that collar would look particularly absurd, even more than it does on you.

+nimrodxv228 It was ironed, but when you have a high quality camera and strong lights you see winkles that you would not see in person.
