Waterbending, one of the four elemental bending arts, is the hydrokinetic ability to control water in all of its various forms. This type of bending is used by the people of the Water Tribe, who are divided into the Southern, Northern, and lesser-known Foggy Swamp tribes, as well as those of the United Republic, each with their own unique bending style.

Actually, surprisingly enough, Toph can actually sense earth in the air.

They did the research and its actually canon that Toph can actually sense earth materials in the air. :)

@@FreedomAnderson Not really. If bending is as vast as it is in the Avatar then there's no mutant problem.
Mutant problem exists because the mutants are very, very different. A bender is just a person who can control 1 out of 4 elements.
You're dumb. Oh, and btw, unlike mutants, Bending is an Art, it's a discipline so most people would feel better having them because they're all most probably either wise or experienced.
Plus, Chi Blockers exist. Non-benders can learn them.

@Meta Man Nah, I'd say earth, the entire mass of the planet is made of it, plus air only takes up a portion of our atmosphere and water may cover most of the planet, the planet itself is made of earth
So that water compression got me thinking:
What if some kind of EXTREMELY gifted waterbender grabbed a bunch of water, compressed it to the size of a ring, then froze it and wore it on their finger?
That would be innovation

I don't care what anyone says, waterbending is the strongest element. And korra even though she didn't use it often was a excellent water bender.

In my opinion I think firebending is the best element. It just hasn't been used to its full potential. For example, firebenders can augment and diminish the size of a fire, yet it's not used in combat although being a very useful skill. Also lightning benders can potentially waterbend to an extent, since water is polar and has a slight negative charge.

@@nonameneeded2943 It's not specifically the lightning that bends the water; it's the negative charge. Since firebenders are able to create charges, they can bend water to some extent. I think a guy made a video on this a while back, where he showed how to bend water in real life using electricity. He made himself positively or negatively charged (I forgot) and made constant ripples in the water using his charged hand.
@@f.b.i6889 yeah but that's assuming they can manipulate the charges itself. They may only just be able to create lighting and just negativity charge themselves as a result just while they are using it. It's possible they can bend they charges but it hasn't been implied. Unless I'm missing something. Maybe firebenders could have some form of control over air. Since fire feeds on oxygen so maybe they can control the oxygen that gets absorbed. Just a thought

Some people probably think this is stupid but it would be cool to see an avatar learn primarily alternate bending styles. Like a fire kingdom avatar that uses combustion, lava, steam/bloodbending, and air would have to stay the same.

@Pax Oxygen is not the same air. Air has various other molecules such as carbon dioxide, water vapor, and is actually over 70% nitrogen. I'm sorry you were too busy insulting people smarter than you to go to a sixth grade science class, but the idea isn't stupid. Firebenders don't use preexisting fire like earth and waterbenders, so it is possible that airbenders make their own air. I personally think it's unlikely due to the suffocation technique, but that's just my opinion.

0:53, THAT'S NOT HOW IT WORKS! i think... when Unalaq was merged with Vaatu, he didn't just earn the ability to earthbend, firebend, and airbend, he was only merged with Vaatu. Then again, since Raava and Vaatu's energies are mixed, when Raava got the power of the elements from energybending, Vaatu could've also gotten those abilities and Unalaq just didn't use them because of a lack of experience.
Wait, nvm, when Aang got captured by Zuko that first time, he showed incredible waterbending in the avatar state, though he was shown to not be able to properly waterbend normally.

Plantbending is kinda similar to 'bloodbending'. Considering bloodbending as to bend the lymph, and the cytoplasm of the cells with it (stomach contains, tears, sweat, gag, urine, sperm, call it, these things all contain more than or equal to 90% water, nah maybe the stomach not after you ate).
A plant has even more water actually (vacuoles for instance).

Steam manipulation is so cool and scary. A water bender who could project very hot superheated steam or even supercritical water is far more terrifying than a fire bender.

2:20 water compression is also pretty much practiced by all water benders. We can see Katara in several occasions like before the invasion supply and pull loads of water in arguably small canisters.

How about cryonic used by Aang that preserve his body up to 100 years may be even longer? It definitely used several of these ability such as body temperature and water pressure to freeze cells in the body then encasing it in iceberg
