The one made by spu7nix isn't avaliable, but there's something called AMNT made by speckyYT which does the same thing. It's a library for SPWN, the GD programming language

We need to make a petition for robtop to add a "backface culling" option for gradient triggers, would make depth a lot simpler
Kind of, but really, that's not the main issue. All he needs to do is add proper dynamic spawn ordering in the spawn trigger, and it will be infinitely more efficient and way more accurate.
Priority Option:
backface culling only exists in the context of a 3d environment containing quadrilaterals positioned in space. in a 2d world, it just doesn't make any sense, it isn't an inherent property of some placement of vertices on your screen. what you would have to do instead is check if all 4 vertices have their z coordinate negative, i.e. all of them are "behind the camera", in whatever form their 3 coordinates are stored. and in this case, disable the gradient, which can either be done using the gradient trigger option, or a stop trigger.

@@lumi2030 Backface culling is something needed here, it would help a lot with rendering issues and performances. And yes it does make sense because even if the screen is 2D, the obj is 3D

Wow, I am *beyond* impressed with this 3D engine and its sheer cappabilities, it looks so much better than Sputnix's or Incidius' raycasting method whilst seemingly being more optimized as well!

But besides that, I was wondering how you did your rotation? I noticed that you are only rotating in 1 axis. Is that just for the controls, or is that an engine limitation? If so, how does the rotation work exactly and do you think you will ever allow for rotation on the x and z axis?

I think you could make a 3D shooter. (somehow?) Something like Doom, where you don't aim up and down. If you enable 2 player mode and dual mode, you have 6 controls, which 2 would be foward back, 2 left and right, 1 would shoot and 1 would reload. I am not a coder, in fact I am the exact opposite, but i have a strong feeling that it is possible
No but, how did you make all of this. The proper side layering, recoding of the imaginary z axis, scanning of surroundings and loading what should be in screen, all that stuff. How. I'm still mindblown lmao

what triggers does your script use to render 3d objects? and how does rotating the camera works?

The whole engine is EXTREMELY impressive. But I am wondering, when you turn the camera, it seems to pivot about an axis slightly ahead of you. Is this an intentional decision, a concession made due to GDs limitations, something configurable per-level, or something which is being worked on?

Not really. Smooth shading goes for all 4 (or 3 for triangles) edges, gradients can only have different colors on 2. I doubt this is happening anytime soon.

Is the engine able to use the materials of blender models or just the colors? Also, would be cool if you were able to also import the animation made in blender to objects but I guess that would be stupidly hard to do. Nice work!
Right now we're able to only use colors, since being able to import materials would require an overhaul to the gradient trigger (which is only possible through Robtop's updates).
Yall mfs clever enough to come up with this stuff would be solving world hunger in another timeline
