RobotShop offered me a sweet deal, about half the cost of everything seen in the video. I was on the lookout for a CNC router anyway, so I couldn't pass it up! In turn, I would mention RobotShop, and provide a link to the router(above). You'll definitely see this in a bunch of future projects.

I realized after uploading, the lip that is in the circles at the end is likely from the skewed rails that I need to square up better. When its moving in the negative Y direction they probably skew slightly, then "unskew" in the positive Y direction, leading to an out of round circle, kind of like backlash. Hard to explain. Need to sort that out.
I'm excited to see the video on that laser cutter! Your workshop is gonna be awesome man
Nice gear! Hope to see lots of cool projects!
Love it when hobbies and channels I subscribe to cross paths! Shapeoko is an awesome machine. I have an X-Carve but if I had to do it over again I'd get the Shapeoko for sure.
Congrats on the GRAND PRIZE in the instructables Halloween contest, that is a really great project.
I have a stepcraft 840 cnc, assembled it myself and had the same problem you're having. The way I came to resolving this issue was by loosening the end rail bolts on all corners and manually (with no power) bringing the gantry to one end with using 2 blocks like 123 blocks on either side in between where the gantry "hits" the ends and once it's square to the blocks on both sides tighten up the bolts and rinse & repeat on other end. Hopefully this can work for you!😃👍
P.S. I think the correct pronunciation is shape-O-ko
Dude your workshop is getting some nice tools! I'm interested to see the laser cutter and what you will use it for.
Nice! Man, I wish I had one, but I don't have the space. Nice video summary. 😎👍
you need to hook up with youtuber Winston Moy!!! He now works for Carbide 3D and I bet they would love to do a video on how to get a new shapeoko dialed in.
I have watched a bunch of Winston's videos, but I wasn't aware he worked at Carbide 3D, cool! I will try to get in touch with him.
Would love to see more content from the shapeoko. Dare try aluminum?
But please... use a sacrificial wasteboard!
Which one is good? Openbuilds lead 1010 machine or shapeoko XXL
I was able to get my first CNC off of FaceBook Marketplace last week. I got a Bob’s CNC and paid $800. I might have overpaid but I didn’t have to put it together which was worth it.
Awesome!
hell of a beak on that boy
Its my best feature.
What software do you use for the Shapeoko?
yaaaay 🙂🙏
Dude why didnt you buy a workbee??? I am planing to get that machine, it looks so much better and sturdier than all the rest for the price. Please comment on this!
There are lots of options out there, and I'm definitely not an expert. There are a lot of factors when making a decision, setup time, community help, DIYness, budget. Find the one the satisfies your needs.
Got a smaller system last year to make PCB, but it was too hard for me to get right and the quality was nothing like I can get from China, so the CNC has sat idle, but hopefully videos like yours will motivate me to do other things with it. For setup I found some of the videos on setting up conventional mills with dial gauges were useful. Finding some way to quantify troubles has usually helped me in the past. Good luck!
one doesn't often see 'China' and (good) 'quality' in the same sentence...
@@lintelle2382 Pcb from jlc in China are the best quality I have ever had, far better than anything I have ever made or bought in the uk.
I'm not absolutely certain, but I think it's pronounced "Shay-poko". Shape - Oko. Shapeoko. It sounds like you are saying "Shape-ee-oko". I don't think that's right.
Hey Buey I’ve heard both and I’m probably wrong, but I like my way. Haha
why not a mpcnc?
This was an opportunity to get a great machine.
@@SeanHodgins well than it makes sense
also its not opensource and the designer is a dick head...
