exactly, I only thought that the triggers had the rumble feedback feature like what Xbox one controllers had, But seeing this adaptive resistance feature just feels like it's asking for the springs to break. cause it looks like it's over stressing the springs beyond where the triggers normally compress the springs. And repeatedly stress them past that point is absolutely going to break the springs.

Some times testing isn't accurate to irl situations, especially when it's automated by a robot, this is why design flaws can come up after a product comes out. The Joycons testing probably didn't test for the idea that a lot of modern games have you run by pushing in the sticks, which added extra friction to the sensors and caused them to tear down faster. Of course that on top of the fact it naturally sands away do to the design flaw.
"The Joycons testing probably didn't test for the idea that a lot of modern games have you run by pushing in the sticks" No controller takes that into account. IMO every game with controls like that should fail certification. Stick in every controller is designed and tested for clicks only in central position.
@@UltimateAlgorithm not everyone cares for those features. That's why there is choice to disable it. The first gen DS4 had issues with the left TS rubber peeling off. Sony fixed it and they will with the Dualsense. This is just temporary hardware problem.
@@UltimateAlgorithm that's subjective. As my previous comment stated, it's only temporary so this 'unused feature' wouldn't be a permanent thing. There are features on the DS4 that we all paid for but barely got put to use. For example, the controller speaker.. How often did single player games, yet alone multi-player made use of it? Barely! It's all subjective how everyone values these features.
@Hridaya Shrestha the moment the first teardown is revealed people should've know it'll be prone to failure. Such high load high impact mechanism should use metal constructiom instead of plastic. This is different than vibration motors. It's literally impacting and fighting againts the user's fingle pressure.
RoRo I feel that adaptive triggers are for campaign and not fast paste gaming like in you're friends case cold war it was intended for campaign and miles morales case in the video it's a pretty fast paste game and you have to constantly thro webs and almost everything is plastic so unless you're playing low paste you should turn them on for a better experience
I’ve personally had no issues so far, but I did think of this as a problem. Hopefully Sony upgrades them in the future, maybe like they did with the refreshed DS4s included with the Slim and Pro models.
There's no way we are going to see a slim version of either console (Series X or PS5) for a very long time. They have to be the size they are as cooling them in smaller cases would be very problematic indeed. It's a miracle they run as cold and quiet as they do now (both run really cool and whisper quite). Maybe...if they moved the power supplies externally like the Xbox 360 but I just don't see it. Further, Sony isn't going to do a full redesign of the controller either. Unlike the Sixaxes controller (hated) the Dual Sense is a huge hit that feels infinitely better than any Dual Shock line of controller. Given how truly advanced the Dual Sense controller is (feature heavy) they would need to do a serious redesign of the Dual Shock for it too work...it's far easier to add heavier duty springs in the triggers and stronger parts for the sticks than making a brand new controller. This is the first time Sony has really given Microsoft a run for their money in the controller department. While I still prefer the Series X controller the Dual Sense is a very, very close second. Addendum- We were (fiancee and I) very fortunate to be able to snag both the Xbox Series X and PS5 *physical. While the new consoles are absolutely huge in stature they are works of art and design. I shudder too think what would happen should Sony or Microsoft rush slim models out before the chipsets can be shrunk.
@@Sinn0100 I don't think they'll release a slim version but I 100% think they are more than capable of releasing a pro version but I do think they'll try to re work the controller or add better or more heavy duty parts and put them into their new generation of controllers
The DS4 triggers were so bad I've never actually had to buy a new controller since I learned how to fix them. The plastic posts were so weak in the original models. When I took one apart for the first time I was shocked at how weak they were. The triggers would break the first time anyone would drop the controller. The 2nd generation was vastly improved. I'm sure the same will go for the Dualsense.
@@johnnyissa7890 I just don't see any of that happening for at least two years. These new machines are very different beasts that the base 8th generation consoles. The base 8th generation consoles were very weak out of the gates and the mid generation upgrades became almost a requirement (we got them day 1). Both Microsoft and Sony made money right out of the gate on the Xbox One and PS4...that's not the case with these new machines. The PS5 *physical costs something like $950.00 per machine and the Series X...I think is hitting the 1K mark. Basically we're back to the way consoles used to be made. Essentially the console manufacturers produce a very powerful machine at a loss and make the money back through licensing fees and games. The cost to design the cooling systems for both had to be astronomical. While I would buy pro models of both on day 1 it's going to be awhile.
Rodrigo, yeah it must be better since it does not last even two months! At the same time got no issues at Xbox One controllers or Dual Shock four. Are you stupid or something?
From my experience I’ve noticed over the years that triggers with trigger stops like the scuf can break, not because of bad design but more due to user pressing way too hard. The trigger goes down less than half the normal travel & engages with mere millimeters of travel. If you’re pressing down excessively or hard a lot then 1 of 2 things typically happens. You either break the nub off the trigger stop which can be easily replaced.. or you break the plastic C shape hinges that lock on the pivot bar inside, the plastic C hinges break & then your trigger doesn’t compress or decompress correctly because the leverage point is broken or the entire trigger falls off because both hinges break. I’m assuming something similar may be happening in the new PlayStation controller because 1 it’s all plastic C hinges pivoting on a small metal bar.. the adaptive trigger is pushing back to creating resistance or pressure acting essentially like a “trigger stop” would. Maybe users are pressing the trigger too hard as it’s pushing back.. the plastic hinge cracks or breaks.. which could also cause the spring to unseat. That’s my guess, the hinge system can’t handle the pressure at the pivot point.
I learned my lesson with launch dualshock 4 when both "2" buttons broke, so i swapped L1 FOR L2 & R1 FOR R2 on my new controller, for example in a FPS game the "aim" button would be L1 and "fire" button R1 i haven't had a problem playing like this. im most likely going to do the same w/ the dualsence controller when i eventually get my hands on a PS5.
@@johnnyissa7890 I was expecting this reply, I switch between 1 finger and 2 fingers without even thinking about it. Anyway I've only used R1 for shooting, the combination of it with the joystick is better for controlling your aim. I'm probably just used to it LOL.
I have this exact issue. I can hear a piece rattling around in the controller. As a result, the R2 trigger has less tension and is overly sensitive to the slightest touch of the trigger.
Same here, I got probably around 250hrs on my clock and its fine. Although I realized that the buttons already have a slight squeak to them but nothing serious so far.
Slight correction: You do not need to solder or desolder a single thing to get to the trigger spring. undo the 4 screws of the trigger module, and there is a metal pin by the base of the trigger you can remove. From there you have access to the button rubber, springs, flex. No soldering needed.

I've been a early adopter every generation and haven't had one issue with PlayStation. I still have my fat PS3 from 2009. Now that trash Xbox 360 is a different story 🤣
Sometimes you gotta let go of the gimmicks and focus on durability and build quality - Sony checked 1 of those boxes - ppls hands are all different - strong weak big small and everything in-between - which means infinite pressure possibilities and more ways to break an otherwise great design effort
It’s been a year and apparently they haven’t updated the springs in the controller. The adaptive triggers in my DualSense broke in ONE WEEK. I’m so pissed.
Used mine almost every day since launch, not had a single issue and got the external harddrive connected with over a terabyte of ps4 games installed on. Never crashed, never overheated, runs perfectly and the controlled have been amazing
In Astro Playroom, everything about the dual sense was implemented to perfection, other developers won’t put the same effort. In the first few minutes of playing Spider-Man, I noticed my fingers where getting tired very quickly, because Insomniac programed the adaptive trigger to web-swinging and that’s something you do all the time. I disabled the adaptive trigger and had a much better experience. So, it’s no surprise to me the controller is already breaking and have Spider-Man being mentioned.
just like ps4 touch pad. for switch i prefer 3rd party power a controllers as dont care for rumble amibo or any of that rubbish and damn site cheaper than pro controller
I'd guess the manufacturing spec on the spring was off. More specifically the temper of the spring steel. Otherwise, it should work without issue within it's elastic range of motion
I have a launch day PS5/Dualsense. And just started experiencing this issue on the 24th. I was playing Days Gone (No adaptive triggers) and at first the trigger became a little unresponsive. I would pull it down to shoot, nothing would happen, then the second time I would get a response. After a couple minutes a cracking/breaking noise would occur when I pulled down the trigger. Now, 2 days later, the cracking is gone and I am always getting a response, however it is obvious with the amount of tension in the trigger 1 spring became loose. Also, adaptive triggers still work.
Thats why i I always wait a year or two to get next gen consoles. It usually takes that long for them to make the necessary upgrades to make the system more efficient & the price always drops
From my personal experience, mine popped on me while I was playing cod (the game has a real heavy use on the adaptive triggers). I heard a snapping noise in my L2 trigger, scared the hell out of me because I thought something blew up in my controller at first. It's not unresponsive but it's ridiculously loose now. The idea of the adaptive triggers was a red flag the day I heard it was going to be a thing. I feared this would be a issue.
Go on COD settings and switch R1L1 with R2L2. You'll play better. The effect is terrible in CoD in my opinion. They didn't even bother matching the rumble with the bullets.

As someone grow up with NES and later SNES, ppl told me, that the L and R Buttons are fragile on SNES Controllers. I was wondering, because not any of my SNES Controllers did break. So some ppl must be use brute force on controller buttons that they break. I think this is kind of the same thing here, that ppl try hard to press the buttons until they break. The resistence maybe let them think "i need to press even harder". (or just playing more aggressively overall)

I honestly hate the implementation of pushing the analog stick to run. I always feel uncomfortable when performing that action on my DS4 controller.
@@aswinkumar4452 I agree. This is why I want them to add the handle buttons as non macros, as then they could set run to one of those buttons instead

Addendum-
We were (fiancee and I) very fortunate to be able to snag both the Xbox Series X and PS5 *physical.
@@johnnyissa7890
I just don't see any of that happening for at least two years.

Same issue slight stick drift only on ps4 games so far

I saw this happening and I'm happy it's starting now when a minority of the ppl have the console cause by the time a majority of ppl get it they should have a upgrade or something
Incorrect. Revisions don't guarantee much. My og ps4 launch controller never had issues besides the left stick rubber peeling. Two of my new, revised controllers have stick drift. Revisions don't guarantee much
That a weird way of saying you feel envious some people got it before you
The one time I'm glad I can't find a PS5 yet.
Its trash dude sav e yourself the troubles
@@L4Disillusion guys just say you couldn't get one its ok lmaooooo
As someone grow up with NES and later SNES, ppl told me, that the L and R Buttons are fragile on SNES Controllers. I was wondering, because not any of my SNES Controllers did break. So some ppl must be use brute force on controller buttons that they break.
I think this is kind of the same thing here, that ppl try hard to press the buttons until they break. The resistence maybe let them think "i need to press even harder". (or just playing more aggressively overall)
I guess Microsoft’s “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it”mentality towards their next gen controllers is panning out for them.
They also have the "if it is broke, still don't fix it" mentality, just based on my experience with trying to get an Elite Series 2 from them that didn't have unusable levels of button-sticking right out of the box.
@@Cryptic0013 I've read many bad reviews about the Elite controllers for Xbox One.
SOUNDS LIKE PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO PUSH AGAINST IT WHEN ITS RESISTING TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS AND THEN POP! BROKEN.
So its a cheap ass controller, got it
@@LiquidSpartan117 not as cheap as that xbox controller though😂🤣😂
@@TheeThunderGod its actually cheaper. The Xbox controller is solid and consistent. And feels better overall.
The adaptive triggers while an interesting idea, is a fragile expensive, gimmick. They will never be able to make them reliable. Idk why they thought this was a good idea. 70 bucks a pop, you cannot use a ps4 controllee for no reason, and everyone knows how much use and how rough people just inevitably treat controllers.
@@user-ky9ou5dz9q OK IM OUT. DUDE SAID PS5 CONTROLLER IS CHEAPER THAN THE XBOX CONTROLLER 😂🤣😂😂😂. FANBOY OVER FACTS HUH? END OF CONVO.
@@TheeThunderGod if they are already breaking, shits cheaper. Common sense.
I still have my original xbox one controller, day one edition, and i can still play every game I own on my series x with it. They are absolutely not built cheaply lol.
If I don't use the adaptive triggers (which i wasn't planning to use anyway), can I avoid this issue?
no mine has lasted 2 weeks whitout using the function.
Been playing with my dual sense since launch day and haven’t had a single problem. Sucks this is happening tho
Got all this crap turned off, just give us back paddles Sony.
If you want a boring controller go to xbox
@@kikohogod5704 how tf is a normal controller that doesn't have any gimmicks boring
@@kikohogod5704 Ohh, so edgy!
It's so much fun having to claim your warranty!
@@kikohogod5704 When did they bring up xbox?
@@kikohogod5704 there's nothing wrong with criticism lmao, especially when the video you're on is about the controller breaking because they're "not boring"
My right joystick button is so sensitive I barley even push in and it activates it’s so Annoying it makes it so hard to play cod where I have to apply a feather pressure to look around
Change sensitivity? Sorry if you tried already
I called it, well among friends. I would think the more moving parts something has the more chances it has to break. Now add that thinking to a controller where your always mashing, pulling, rotating. Yea and its 80 bucks...
Good lord! Let’s get this year over with already
Nothing is gonna change even in 2021
The end of the year doesn't mean the end of everything bad that is happening right now.
@@cesarherediaaguirre4419 Huh, don’t you know world hunger and poverty end the first day of 2021?
@@DJCReptiles My bad! I totally forgot about that. I'm eager for that day to come for sure!
Yeah the covid 19 didn't end when 20th started, so perhaps all other problems will not not disappear when 20th end
Do not use *Burst Weapons* whilst using adaptive triggers. My R2 has also becone really loose while ive been using it for COD.
MERRY CHRISTMAS SPAWN WAVE!!
