My name is Kaiya Pelletier and I am documenting my metal journey as I discover and listen to metal music for the first time ever. I'm in my mid 20's and I've been a singer songwriter and performer for over 10 years. Currently I live in Stillwater, Oklahoma and I am in the process of recording my 4th album. I have a Bloodhound named Spooner, I love Mexican food, collecting Stephen King novels, collecting CD's and cassettes and my favorite movies are tied between Jurassic Park and Alien.

Yeah, I came here to say this. She's currently my favorite drummer, and this youtube personality didn't even mention her once in half an hour!
She's a good drummer don't get me wrong. Better than some other "pro- drummers" perhaps. But tell me you know nothing about drumming without telling me you know. Nothing about drumming. I can name plenty of drummers off the top of my head that can play circles around her. Just because she can blast decent means nothing. I've given their songs a spin and I've not heard anything from her that 95% of other death metal drummers aren't doing. Not original whatsoever. But, She's female....ergo, automatically gets put on a pedestal when they show a lick of talent to "compete" with the boys crowd. Again, is she good and talented? Yes. Is she amazing and one of the best out there? Laughably NO.
Best Death Metal band since Necrophagist. They are exactly what I wanted my band to sound like in 2002.
This band is so unique. The lyrics are dense and the music you can identify several old influences, but at the same time it is fresh and authentic. I'm obsessed with this band. It will certainly soon become the front line at several festivals.
When I heard the first single I thought "wow! Crypta's best song!" when I heard the second single "wow! This is Crypta's best song!". when I heard The Other Side of Anger "no, this is definitely the best song Crypta has ever done." I've already listened to the entire album, I really liked it, one of the best of the year. The Other Side of Anger is one of the best songs of the year, the melody, the lyrics, touched me in a very deep way.
Crypta opened for Morbid Angel this past spring. They had great energy in a live setting!
I’m sure by now you’ve heard the whole album, but the song, “Stronghold” is EPIC! My favorite song from them!
You can definitely tell their death metal roots in their music. You can't ignore the black metal nuances that they incorporate into their sounds. Great band that I think will only get better with time.
Crypta needs to play this song at the next Super Bowl halftime show.

This girls are so HEAVY. Wasn't able to see them on the tour with Morbid Angel but I'll make sure to catch them next time they come through the Bay Area.

Welcome to the Crypta underworld!! Way cool of you to react to ALL THREE of their fabulous new tracks! This band does not know how to write a bad song, and all four of them hit on all cylinders all the time! Jessica and Taina are a spectacular lead-guitar duo! Luana is in the top of everyone's most bad-ass metal drummers list, and then of course there's Fernanda - incredible voice and solid bass! (bit of trivia; Fernanda's clean voice is beautiful as well! And, Jessica and Taina also have beautiful clean singing voices, although you won't hear them in Crypta...!) Saw them in Dallas with Morbid angel - killer show!! Got to meet them after - super sweet people! Keep up the reactions!

Speaking of women in metal, I recommend Infected Rain: Fighter. Female fronted, I believe also on Napalm Records.
Really enjoy this band, traditional death metal, with melody. Their last album was super good. They had a different lead guitarist. The drummer is badass. The main guitar player definitely has Death influence.
Love this band, got to see them with Morbid Angel and Revocation.

So happy that I discovered this band a year ago. I've been listening to them daily and the live shows are even better! Stronghold is one of my favorites on this Album. The lyrics are so good.

Their echos of the soul album was one of the best metal releases of 2021. An absolute banger that came out of left field! This one is sounding really good as well! Actually didn't know they had a new album
Fun fact: The first all female death metal band was MYTHIC. They started in the late 80s.

I saw them on the tour with morbid angel and god damn is Fernanda's stage presence top tier. They have such good headbanging parts. They instantly became a favorite when I first heard them.

I can't say I'm a huge, huge fan... the music still sounds to me like it's being "held back": the studio polish, the "easy going" riffs, Fernanda's vocals... Everything is "moderate". But the girls are super talented and super cool! And Fernanda is actually an amazing singer: Trey filmed her singing a cover for Amy Winehouse, on the Morbid Angerl tour. She killed it. Incredible.

@imaKaiya - I hope you get to see CRYPTA live in the near future. They were AMAZING on the MORBID ANGEL tour, performing like they were the headliners, as opposed to being first on a 4 band bill going through the motions.
Below is a link to the Los Angeles show I saw earlier this year, and I anxiously await to see them in Hollywood at The Whisky A GoGo in February 2024 for their first headlining tour of the States!
The live mix here isn’t great, and Fernanda’s mic wasn’t turned up for the first couple of songs. But you can see the energy and charisma the band exudes on stage. Almost like early SLAYER or the original POSSESSED lineup in their early 80’s heyday but musically more aggressive! Enjoy! 🤘🏾

pretty solid vocals. some cool riffs here and there, but a lot more modern composition / arrangements than I'm usually drawn to for metal.
I suggest you listen to another metal band from Brazil, Miasthenia! Excellent female vocals!

I suggest you listen to The Gathering songs "in motion #1" and "in motion #2", which has the best female vocals in rock and metal, and to me she is also the best female singer ever beside Ariana Grande.

still dont understand why this is called death metal. this sounds nothing like death metal. to me it sounds more like black metal. so for me i would call it more Blackened death metal because that would fit the picture more. just like Behemoth for example
