I loved the lyrics interpretations, most people don't really get their attention to it, but fernanda has some amazing lyrics! Please listen to stronghold when you have time
I am glad that y'all returned to Crypta. I love both this song and the music video. Other than a 40 second instrumental outro, Lord of Ruins is the final song of their great album, released earlier this year, called Shades of Sorrow. When I first saw this music video, I wanted to understand the meaning, especially when a couple months later I saw that the album cover depicted the tied red robed figure in the chair with swords arrayed in his back, surrounded by candles. I found a comment regarding the lyrics (I wish I could remember where) that said that the symbolism was very similar to the tarot card called 10 of Swords. That card shows a man laying face down near a body of water with 10 swords in his back. He is also partially draped by a red blanket or cloak. Above him are dark clouds but the horizon shows cloudless sunshine. To me, it depicts being blindsided by something so horrific that you feel that there is no way to go on. However there is also continues to be a place where the sun still shines. It is up to the person to either rot on the ground or begin the immense struggle back to the sunshine. I don't know if Fernanda actually had the tarot card in mind when writing the lyrics, I just know that the lyrics are fantastic. Not only do I consider her harsh vocals up there with Tatiana of Jinjer, but her lyrics are also on Tatiana's level.
Yes! The tarot image comes to mind. Not knowing too much about tarot, I (Itai) would rather not comment on the meaning in that regard, but it is an intriguing point. However, the visual is likely inspired by the tarot image, for sure. As for Fernanda's vocals and lyrics, I agree, both are top notch! We've only experienced two songs so far, but the depth of the lyrics has made for an interesting experience and discussion and the harsh vocals and the band's amazing skills were quite next level. I've now had LOR in my head for days since we shot the episode. Great stuff! Thank you again, Dan, for taking the time to view and engage. Your support has been absolutely amazing! We appreciated you! 🙏
