- Finally finished for Dave Garlick (my very good friend) Walthers North Island Refinery. It definitely tried my patience. I have no idea how you N scalers build this kit without committing suicide 🤔. It is the toughest kit that I have built to date. I thank you for Watching and May God bless you all.
Might not have been a fun build Wilmer, but it came out looking great! Well done!
Thanks John
Great work looking great .
Thanks
As a N Scaler I have built 3 of these in different configuration, one I built the main piping vertical because of space on the layout. Yes the instructions are bad, the ladders with no safety rails are a joke. The kit does lend it's self to add SMD's to bring it to life. Looks like you did a good job, I am sure your friend will be happy with it.
Thanks and God bless you building 3 of them.
For all the pains you went thru to build this, you did an incredible job, it looks great.. the close up pics, really set it off, Happy Easter to you and yours Wilmer..
To you and yours Pappy. Be safe in your travels.
might need 2 more of those kits to make it complete there Wilmer. might be time to employ the skills of some of the local kids
I am not doing anymore refinery kits. Ain't Happening! Thanks for watching.
Looks great Wilmer, I probably would have tossed it in the can, lol.
I was thinking shotgun.
Wow very cool project and looks very cool. Have a wonderful rest of your holiday weekend.(Steve)
Thanks Steve

Thanks Anthony
Looks awesome Wilmer. Thanks for sharing. Dave
Thanks Dave
Looks fun Wilmer, brass details make them look better, for sure
It was supposed to have plastic Rails. Thanks Dave for watching
NOT BAD !!!!!! You did a good job Wilmer
Thanks Joe
Hi Wilmer. For an incomplete kit from Ebay you did a very credible job. Mine was a new kit from my hobby store and I started building it many years ago but it remains unfinished, mainly because when the feeling strikes me I intend to add lighting. It is a difficult kit and typical of Walthers the instructions are not that great but I enjoyed building mine. I gave up on ebay around 2004 and have not been tempted to go back.
Regards, David.
Thanks David ,I am glad to be done with this kit and ebay.
looks super, You are correct, Walther's kits, the kit itself is beautifully made by Heljan in Europe, castings are superb, the instructions, well Walthers does those in house, and I think they need to fire the whole staff. they have always sucked. I do try to avoid eBay as often as possible. sometimes, its the only place to find a thing. and yes, buyer beware, sometimes stuff is missing. Thanks for sharing your cool building!
Thanks for watching and your insights about Walthers kits.
Wilmer you did a great job!
Thanks JD, Happy Easter
Very good effort Wilmer. Those pipes look like a nightmare!
Thanks Jim
Great Job !!! Its the best looking bowl of spaghetti I've ever seen !!
Thanks Mark
Way to go Wilmer. Congratulations! You solved the puzzle.😁
Yeah and what a puzzle. Caulk one up for experience. Thanks for watching
Great job Wilmer 👍👍👍 I need to finish mine this summer. Doubt if I use that rectangle of pipes, no room. Happy Easter .
Wow, I thought you would throw it in the trash. The rectangle of pipes were the easier part of the pipes. The stacks were the nightmare. Good luck my friend.
Great job Wilmer, looks really nice. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for watching.
Looks great sir! Nice job! 👍
Thanks
Good job. Turned out really well.
Thanks Chazco
It turned out Noooot Baaaad 😂. I feel your pain . I built one of the Nscale version
Ohhhhh my. Better you than me. Thanks Rusty for watching.
I have bought 3 of those kits in N scale off eBay. They are ok , but have a bit of flash and the instructions are very basic. I kit bashed and chopped 2 of them up to make a more realistic set up. Anyway great video to tell people it can give you a headache.
I will never do another refinery. Thanks for watching
its looks great now can you build me one lol jk happy Easter
Lol, NO, HAPPY Easter Dwight
Looks great, and the poor instructions are one of the biggest complaints I have with walthers.
I hate their instructions, thanks DJ.
NOT BADDDDDDDDD
Thanks Ssssstttttteeeeevvvvveeee87th
The kit is missing ladders to get to the platforms. Regarding the big column in the middle, whatever it is for, never seen one that increases in diameter in the middle then neck down at the top. To the untrained eye the model looks legitimate but it is kind of artificial looking. The black equipment on the right with the tall stack is supposed to be a fired heater.
Yeah it is not a protypical refinery but Mr.Garlick really liked it and I hope he enjoys it for a long time. Thanks for watching Harry
Nice job, Wilmer. You would think that someone from walthers is aware of all the poor comments regarding the kit instructions and try to improve them.
In one of our meeting of the minds livestream, I think we concluded that it is probably not cost effective for them to change all the instructions. So we're stuck with them. Most of the time we can figure them out without too much trouble. Thanks for watching
Aku buat sendiri benda ini..
Thanks for Watching
Want to work on my N scale refinery?
Noooooo
Doubtful of the instructions are written by anyone who built it
You said a mouthful. THANKS FOR WATCHING
Nice job considering the awful instructions from Walthers….John
Thanks John
