Nikon should include a link to this in their camera boxes, it's simply exceptional! It's also that rare youtube video, information from start to finish with no padding or self promotion. Thanks Chris.
This video is a remarkable achievement in clarity and concision. I taught photography for over 30 years and could never be so. informative in such a brief period.
Thank u so much for a great video. I just got the camera and was dreading reading the manual. Thanks to you breaking everything down to understandable and basic concepts, I can get off auto mode and actually learn photography! So excited. Thank you!
Wow, this was so thorough and well explained. I had been feeling more than a little lost before watching this. Thank you for making it so easy to follow and understand.
I was overwhelmed trying to figure out the settings on my new camera and this video was a life saver! Thank you! I feel way more confident in trying out my camera
Great beginners tutorial, thanks. It taught me a lot about my new camera. I especially appreciate that this video isn't called "BEGINNERS information that you MUST ABSOLUTELY know" or other crappy clickbait title. Liked and subscribed! 😊
You are an excellent teacher, Chris! I just purchased a used Nikon Z-fc after a long hiatus from photography and your videos are helping me so much. Your initial settings make sense and helped me get oriented to this camera. I love this camera because it reminds me so much of my very first SLR, the Nikon FE. Looking forward to watching a lot more of your tutorials. Thank you!
Probably the best video out there on the Zfc! I find myself coming back to this video just to brush up every now and then. One thing I noticed, you don't actually need to press the button down first to change the shutter speed, at least if you're switching between 2-4000. I completely agree that button is annoying though, particularly for the iso dial. Thank you for the great info!
Thank you so much. I just started my photography journey yesterday with the zfc as my first ever camera. This is exactly what I needed. Amazing tutorial.
Just ordered this camera yesterday and can't wait for it to arrive. The knobs and switches seemed a bit intimidating in the store but this video was INCREDIBLY helpful! Thank you so much.
Chris, I recently purchased a Nikon Z fc camera and came upon your excellent video. I watched it entirely and a few days later, I watched it again. This is a great tutorial and I will constantly refer to this to refresh my memory and learn the most about this camera. Thank you and greetings from Central Florida.
I don't usually comment on videos but I think I must tell you this was very helpful and cleared all my doubts about this camera. I was "coming for the retro look" but now I am "staying for these cool features" Cheers!
I'm so happy I found your tutorial. Really useful tips and explanations of some of the functions of the camera. I purchased a Nikon Z fc a couple of weeks ago, and your tutorial has been great. I can't wait to start experimenting and using many more functions and features. Thank you.
I have recently obtained a ZFC as a media officer for a youth orginisation I volunteer for and was really unsure about how to get it working for me. This video has proven so useful and in the space of 20 minutes I have learned more then I have done in the 2 months since I recieved it. Hopefully my shots will start coming out better and will even help me with getting to grips with the basis of the Z6 I currently have on loan from a colleague which I intend to purchase from them in a few months! Thank you for this massively useful video!
I have had Nikon cameras since the 1970's. I kept progressing and the cameras got heavier and bulkier. After getting a P1000 I noticed how that monster was like carrying a cinder block everywhere I went. I wanted to get a camera that was feather light yet had many possibilities for pictures and videos. Night time, time laspe, trains and architecture are my hobbies and the Zfc fits the bill for these nicely.I am very happy with the camera and your tutorials have really inspired me to get to know it better. Thanks for the great videos. I load them on my iPhone and watch them over and over as I am riding the rails to my next photo shoot.
This video convinced to get the Z fc as my first mirrorless camera and after a day and half I'm already close to being full manual thanks to this video. Watched like 3 times now lol gotta start taking notes. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this.
Thank you for such a great instructional video. I keep loosing my way, your video has helped me focus on the important things I needed to learn first. Thanks again
Brilliant video. Just got my Z FC yesterday and spent the day trying to understand all the settings Got a bit confused by some of them. Then came across Chris Attrell's beginners video and this helped immensely. Thanks for sharing your expertise
Great Video, Chris. I just got my Z fc today and had been playing with it. But after viewing your video, I have learnt more controls. I am from India and though I have been photographing for more than 15 years now and well aware of the controls, you video made it a lot easier to use Z fc. I look forward to more videos from you. Well Done !!!
This is wonderful… thank you ( from the UK!) for such a clear and helpful tutorial! I felt so confused about how to set up and start photography again with this camera -first camera for very many years! - and this has given me so much info 😅
Amazingly informative and clear tutorial! Great way of explaining how to start using more manual modes. I don't usually comment on videos, but wanted to say Thank you!
Really liked this video. I have just purchased this camera and needed a quick set up and orientation. This video did the trick. Thanks Chris. you did a great job.
Hi! I don't have a Nikon, I recently got a Fuji, however your video popped up in my feed! I just want to say, I thought your video was an excellent tutorial on the basics, and as a beginner myself, even with a different camera, I found this really helpful! Thank you!
Great video! As a beginner, who had never any touch with photography and has to do this for art school, this video is very helpful!! I was so overwhelmed with this lent camera and now I feel more hopeful to pass this class!!
I am incredibly new to photography. This is the first camera I’ve owned besides my phone and the windup disposables as a child. I thought I made a bad investment because all my photos were trash but this video is a complete game changer
@@michelecintramika8482 I'll keep that in mind! I am trying not to let the excitement of a new hobby make go into full Gear Aquisition Syndrome but i will add it to the list. First thing is spare battery, then a nice tripod.
@@christopherjohnson4369 I agree with you. But everyone should prioritize a speedlight. All you need is a cheap camera and a cheap lens and the speedlight will make all the difference. The speedlight is indispensable.
Great tutorial. It helped getting up to speed with the Z fc. My settings have evolved though, mainly to have full control in street photography. Maybe it might help some people: I use M mode, with aperture set to the manual focus ring of my lenses. That way I can control Aperture, Iso and Shutter directly. I usually set the shutter speed as required and adjust the ISO dial to the light conditions. That leaves the aperture ring to finetune my exposure. I tend to use centre weighted as my metering mode. I have the little button next to the shutter set to AF settings, allowing the front and back dials to change AF modes and area. Lastly I set the Fn1 button to change between single, L or H firing. Together with both wheels I can quickly set any speed I want. When there is no time to tweak exposure I just set the camera to P mode and make the shot. And I always use back button focus. Once you get used to that it is the best way to focus a scene. Continuous AF is always my default, when just pressing the focus button once it works as S AF, keeping it pressed makes it Continuous. Best of both worlds.
I just bought my very first "professional" camera (had point and shoot as a teenager and using my phone now lol). I know nothing about photography but after watching this video I felt a bit like a professional 😂😂. Thank you for the thorough explanation. I can tell I have a lot to learn still but this was a great intro.
I initially clicked on this because I wanted to know whether ZFc's features are worth it to upgrade from my little nikon J3 but ended up wanted to re-try all the things mentioned in this because of how similar the UI between old J3 and this one lol. Such a thorough yet concise explanation. Thanks for the great tutorial!
Thanks for the vid. Just got the Zfc today and total newb on photography. Nice video...a lot of info coming real fast but great thing about video is you can watch it over and over until it sinks in. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for making this video. I agree with the other comments- this was incredibly helpful. I’ve been feeling stuck in auto mode and regretting my purchase. Now I feel confident enough to play around with aperture mode and start to actually make use of this camera. Thanks again. Looking forward to checking out your other videos.
A fantastic video! So many videos assume that we know a lot. Growing up I shot film, always manual. When I switched to digital I kept the camera in auto most of the time.
