    While it is great PSA is putting out more colors I personally would rather have the frame permanently dyed a color rather then having it coated with Cerakote. That is just my personal opinion/preference. I have nothing against Cerakote and believe that their coatings are great. That being said they will eventually start to wear away. A dyed frame will not. Dyeing a part gives you freedom to create something that is uniquely yours. This also will work on other polymer parts from other companies that don’t offer many color selections. Thanks for watching!

    Looks great. Any idea how deep the dye goes? Is it resistant to scratching and everyday abuse?

      Not exactly sure how deep it goes but it definitely holds up against everyday use and scratching. Thanks for watching!

    hi there,again...😊
    so i had a bottle of rit dye chocolate brown sitting on my livingroom table, for a couple of days and somehow i just went up and grabbed myself a fde p80PF940V2 frame and went in the kitchen to do some voodoo...lol.
    had the water right under a simmer and threw in the frame under steady moving and checking.
    i went with a half bottle of the rid dye.
    i went a little to far for what i was aiming but here is the outcome tho.
    it went to a nice dark chocolate brow but with a dark red hue so the endresult in my case with a fde frame is a very nice dark brown burgundy color.
    not what i was aiming for but still nice.
    paired with a tungsten grey cerakote/silver polished strike industries lite slide with a black fluted barrel,torch and their +5 magextention sticking out not too bad.i might go for silver polished pins..
    i dont know how long it will hold up but i like it so much more then cerakote on a frame.
    it does not look coated and thats really cool.
    i might do another one...
    a grey one with royal purple rit dye
    there is a vid of purple dyed ar15
    p mags on yt....

      Very cool! I was thinking about trying a purple dye myself and then trying to redo the red one. I would like to get something closer to a bright red.

    Looks great,I wonder how it would work on white cerakote

    • @cq1908
      @cq1908  Год назад +1

      That’s a great question! However, since cerakote is a chemical resistant coating I am almost certain that Rit dye would have little effect on it. I don’t believe it would be able to penetrate into the coating. I’ve done a little research on my own and most people are saying the same thing. If I ever get my hands on a white cerakoted part I would be more than happy to give it a try.

      Typically, it's easier to darken lighter colors. Not what ya want to hear, but a black frame is probably what your stuck with. Frames run pretty affordable, so it's worth a try to get a light gray or tan one to dye a darker color. 👍

    i like this a lot.
    should be able to take that blue dye on a thoothbrush and sprinkle that over that dyed frame and let it sit,to make a great custom effect i think...
    now you can even place your recessed borders with a dremel,clean everything up to fed again and stipple that frame up to have it two tone with that said darker spots......oh man...😊
    very nice options i see here and i gotta say that tone of blue makes it very likeable...very nice.
    what i dont like so much tho...
    it seems to be a bit blotchy at some areas and it looks like the fde is still shining thru...?
    but other then that it looks nice.
    if would take a black frame and leave it in there for n 1h...wouldn't it take on a hue of the dye?
    like in that case a blueish hue?🤔
    man you got me looking at my spare frames laying around here😂
    among my black strike80 frames,i have two grey p80's and a fde p80 i could use for this as a project...lol.
    i can see my wife rolling eyes again😂

    • @cq1908
      @cq1908  Год назад

      Hey O.G., thank you for watching and thank you for your comment. As far as it looking a bit blotchy… it may just be the camera doing that. In person there isn’t any blotchiness or FDE coming through. As far as trying to dye a black frame… you could give it a shot. However, I do not believe it will do anything. When you are dying you need to go from a lighter color to a darker color. The gray frames you have you could definitely use those. I plan on making a video dying a few gray frames in the future.

    • @cq1908
      @cq1908  Год назад +1

      @@jasonb7870Hey Jason, the only two things I can think of that might have caused that is if the plastic wasn’t properly degreased or if you used regular Rit dye and not the Rit DyeMore Synthetic. Using the synthetic is very important. One other thing, you want the water to be just below boiling. However, I’m not sure how much of an impact that would have on the final product. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.
