Man this channel is gold, definitely some of the best painting tutorial on YT! Can you do a quick tutorial on how you create your stencils and the material needed? Thank you very much!!
I can most definitely do a dedicated video on that. I'm fixing to switch to machine cut stencils but the process will be exactly the same as the stencils that are handmade
@@WyattDerpTheNotSoEarp great! The machine will be a life changer 😄 but these handmade seems cheap, easy to custom and to make! I’m curious to see the process and try by myself, definitely looking for your next works cause i have a tiger stripe project in mind! Great job dude!!!
Man.. You have a nack for doing this! Those paint jobs look amazing. And, your instruction on how to do it is great. I hope your channel blows up with subscribers over this great content!
I wanna do some of these. Been wanting to paint up some of mine. Wanna do some of my main ones M81 woodland and then maybe one or two Tiger Stripe camo. Cool video and thanks for sharing
Hey Wyatt. I have been searching diy woodland camo spray on youtube for weeks. Couldnt find anything that looks authentic and professional. Until Ive came across your thumbnail while scrolling. Man, what a awesome paintjob tutorial! The M81 stencil pattern is spot on. At last I found what Ive been looking for now. Im gonna paint my M4A1 airsoft gun with help from your tutorial. Thanks for putting in the effort! Sub and like. Looking forward to your next project. All the best from the Netherlands.
Sorry it's taken me a while to get back to you I'm trying to get more videos done but I'm currently fighting with our weather thats not allowing my paint to spray properly. I'm glad I could help out though because that's exactly why I'm trying to do what I do.
Hey Wyatt Im finished with my paintjob. It took me a whole week just to be sure the paint dried between the layers. Is there anyway I can send you the pics I made? Id love to get your honest opinion.
You want to buy the young man a 100% reliable .22lr, buy him a Walther P22, I've had one for years, literally, around 12 years. I only know that is very close to exact because my daughter turned 9yrs old back in February, and I purchased my P22 a couple of years prior to having her. Runs all types of LR ammo, typical Remington thunder bulk, to the super hot CCI stuff, doesn't matter. It even was 100% reliable after going close to 2 years without cleaning! I let it go this long just to see how good Walther's .22 truly is, and I was impressed, still am actually! I believe it's reliability is a result of the simple design. The fixed barrel, combined with a bare minimum slide, by if a "slide" is even what we should call it. It's pretty much a reciprocating extractor housing that's only real contact surfaces are with the frame rails. The fact that it's designed to run with or with out a suppressor from the factory another indicator to me that the gas pressure is more than enough to run it reliably regardless ammo choice. Edit: I wanted to add that a buddy of mine recently put an after market .22Lr conversion kit with a ramped barrel in his Glock 19 and it has been more reliable than any other semi auto .22Lr pistol I've shot. Actually thinking about getting one for mine. I know the factory G44 barrel is also probably ramped but the Advantage conversion barrel he has is a long ramp that reaches all the way down to the nose of the bullet when sitting in the magazine.
Hey great video my dude! I know you said it’s your “secret sauce” but any chance you could share what you use for the magpul OD green? It’s literally my favorite color for tactical gear and would love to substitute any other od greens you can buy off the shelf for it when i go to paint my rifle soon!
Best rattles can jobs I’ve seen. If there’s any way you could respond and get with me, I need some guidance before painting my pistol since I have so much money in it. I have all the paint and everything. Just waiting for the humidity to go down and my balls to get bigger. I really need a clean job like this tho
Does the paint feel weird when holding the gun barehand? I want to paint my guns, but I'm hesitant just in case it feels off with my grip. I don't really use my guns with gloves ever.
If you do it right it feels a little uncomfortable but quickly smoothens out with use. If you don't like it you can always try some matte clear coat but it will still have a little gloss too it
Put a flat automotive high temp clear coat over top, it'll last for years without chipping or flaking! Be sure to use actual automotive clear you can pick up at most bodyshop repair centers.
Looks good. I've seen putty used instead of tape, but tape looks easier to transfer patterns. Do you think paintbrushing bleach and dye would work well on a plate carrier? I was thinking urban camo or a black and white flecktarn would look good on a plate carrier.
I've never seen or heard of putty before, that's an interesting one. As for the plate carrier I think it would probably work, no idea how the bleach would react with things, I guess that would depend alot on the color and quality of material
I've done clear coats and I've done non clear coats and unless its a really high quality clear coat like whats used on cars its not worth the effort. I find they wear exactly the same honestly, I have an ice chest I did and put 4 cans worth of spray can clear coat and almost half of the paint on the icechest has came off in less than a year.
Can you put some kind of clear coat on it to protect the finish? I was thinking a matte clear enamel or sparurethane. Any suggestions? Great job by the way. It looks just like M81 should. Keep up the good work. You gained a subscriber.
It absolutely will. Almost immediately. But that Glock 44 (22lr) probably isn't getting much time in and out of a holster. This is precisely why you don't see many rattle can painted pistols
It's on the list and probably going to be one of the next ones I do. You start running out of stuff to paint quick when just about everything you have is already painted lol
Guys trust me when I say this. I have never gotten spray paint to get hard or not come off with fingernails scrapes in my life. I finally figured it out: Scrub the shit out of your gun parts with hot ass dish soap water. Put them in the oven at 230f. Take them out and spray down with carb cleaner. Paint a light coat. Hit the shit out of it with a heat gun full blast but do not burn the paint. Put your second and final coat on making sure to get all the hard angles first. Put the parts back in the oven at 230f for 4 hours. Lower the temperature to 200 for polymer and check on it frequently to make sure the polymer isn't warping. Your spray painted parts will come out completely cured and should not smell like spray paint at all, even with nose touching. After doing this I finally have spray painted parts that are as durable as they can be. There's nothing I hate more than uncured spray-painted stuff. Cannot stand it. The the coats below the final coat never actually flash off and remain soft and stinky forever
It is not, I haven't tried alumahyde yet. I seen it on Amazon when I ordered a few colors of Montana Gold to try out so I might also get some alumahyde to try out in the future
My first gun ever was a Hi-Point 45. They get a lot of shit, but it was actually a pretty decent sidearm. It shot straight and never jammed up for me. Anyway, I no longer use it but still have it. I'm looking into painting it,because let's be honest, it's a pretty boring gun.
By far the cleanest rattle can paint job I’ve ever seen ! 👍🏼

End result was fantastic. Great work.
That is an awesome rattle can job. Thinking about painting my Beretta A300 Ultima Patrol shotgun in that camo. I think it would look sick.

Great information! How long would you wait between the layers until you put the tape on? 20 min?
Damn that’s pretty
Good job.
Most paint videos I have seen, they say light coat and soak the firearm. LoL
Great job for spray paint! What color/brand of odg did you use on the m81 on your 12.5?
Curious is it ok if you overlap any of the stencils or do you not want to do that, your m81 for a rattle can is the best I’ve seen!!!
@@HDoctane yes it's perfectly fine to do that. That's how you give the appearance of the different colors overlapping each other
Damn that looks good! Great job!
Good job 👍👏😉✊
Not sure camo on a handgun is necessary but it looks great.

What are you using for the stencils? Is this Frogtape?

@@WyattDerpTheNotSoEarp Putty or clay is used on models I believe, for air brushing.
Nice!! I was waiting on a video like this!! Does it require clear to make it last or is that a stupid question. Just wanna make it last
I think a matte finish clear or flat low gloss clear to minimize reflections would help it hold up better.
I've done clear coats and I've done non clear coats and unless its a really high quality clear coat like whats used on cars its not worth the effort. How long does this hold up with normal use?
Nice
So your just painting over the plastic/blued steel? With what kind of paint?
Spray paint.
Keep up the 🅱aint 🅱rother!
Nice paint job; but as far as 22LRs not being reliable, my 1st gen Ruger 22/45 would disagree.
Thank you.

You can but I find it doesn't give enough protection to justify the extra money and time spent on doing it
Do you leave each set of stencils on until the very end or do you remove with each color.?
I leave them on until the very last color is sprayed, once the last color is dry that's when all the stencils come off
Will a holster rub off all the paint?
It absolutely will. Almost immediately. But that Glock 44 (22lr) probably isn't getting much time in and out of a holster. This is precisely why you don't see many rattle can painted pistols
For the love of God can you please tell me what OD Green you use. I'm sick of the light, bright greens
Absolutely
