A note about your comment about Future Gohan, the reason he has both his arms is due to censorship reasons. They can't use one-armed Gohan, but to make sure that's still represented as accurately as possible, they animate him like he's still missing the arm anyways.
It’s kinda crazy that showing an amputee has to be censored considering that it’s a slightly normal thing to have. People are even born without arms. It’s just interesting
It’s actually because of how these models are used in 2d games and when it flipped the model in a 2d game the model flips which mean Gohan is missing a different arm. So instead of making his 3d model accurate they just used the 2d. It wasn’t censorship more of them being lazy. Kakarot isn’t the first example of one arm Gohan, Sagas did it too.
14:32 The claim was "100 customizable warriors" which is actually fair, because you can customize each character independent of their form; base, ssj, ssj2, and ssj 3 goku can all have their own set of customization items, unlike the tenkaichi games which had the customization being universal for the whole character...
Also, something you would not realize if you are not super into the game, a lot (if not most) of the transformations change the character's attack patterns, cancels, signatures and ways all these combo into each other, so they are not just costume changes. If I remember correctly, even with Goku, Base Goku and Super Saiyan play way different when attacking, with different attack speed animations, cancels etc. Same is the case with SSJ2 and SSJ3 etc. So if you would count Devil Jin as another character in a Tekken game, I think it is fair to consider most (if not all) transformations separate characters in this game as well
I really like how we can turn ring outs on and off in the tournaments and we can use the participants also which I can't remember any other game doing. Such a shame we didn't get RB3. Probably would of surpassed BT3
Raging blast series is underrated it took dbz games to the next console generation(ps3 and xbox 360) the graphics was amazing and the fighting maps were HUGE
To this day, I strongly believe this game has THE BEST combat of all dragonball games. Really wish the fan project of Raging Blast 3 came to exist. But my hopes for Tenkaichi 4 to be its successor is something I’m wishing for
Yes... & no... I haven't played BT3 on PS2 (my PS2 was stolen during house robbery back in the day) and Raging Blast (1) was my first Dragon Ball game that I've played (before I was forced to play MUGENs on PC). Later then I played Raging Blast 2 when it came out (demos etc.) and I was going crazy with combos on RB2, I was having best time of my life with this game, reaching S++ rank online etc... but... I've played Budokai Tenkaichi 3 eventually on PS2 and later then on my PC (a proper rig, no lags on PCSX2). My opinion: RB2 did it the worst, where you are close to the ground you character automatically sticks to it. This "gluing" animation part, makes you vulnerable, being unable to do anything with your character, and your opponent can strike at that specific time. That was game breaking. Another thing, broken in RB2 was (still is btw.) Ki blast + Square + X buttons (teleport around player, from the other side of the map etc.) Instant Transmission literally had no point (sometimes). RB2 also did it wrong, where game was freezing time when doing a Heavy attack. People abused the L1 + L2 (super-flying-up) and X buttons to flying behing other players when time in game froze. They must make sure the game does not have bugs like this, or just simply fix them later on, don't abandon the game like RB2 was... Another part to take a note is RB/RB2 movement was so slow & sluggish. Budokai Tenkaichi character movement was faster. Another thing.... You are able to move at the same time in all directions in BT3 game (for example up & right). In Raging Blast, you are allowed to move only one direction at the time... All that leads to BT3 movement being fluent, better and that should be reimplemented in Sparking! Zero but... some things should come down from RB games. Buttons layout. R1 is better than circle to guard. D-pad down is better than L2 + circle to charge KI up. R2 + Triangle/Circle/Square/X is better than L2 + up/down/left/right to transform Right analog stick in cross-path (Up/Down/Left/Right) is better than L2 + up/down + triangle/circle etc. to perform a Super-Attack. It's confusing. Pressing R3 is better to perform Ultimate Attack than what Budokai Tenkaichi 3 did. So, honeslty... they should give us an option to remap the keys, not force us to use a specific key mapping. edit:// Look at Vegeta SSJ3 at 19:28 (he's gluing to the ground after his super-attack)
As much as this game stumbled in some aspects I wish we’d have gotten a 3rd game so they could possibly address them also Battle or Z should be your next restrospective right...?? That’s gonna be interesting 👀

AHHH I have been impatiently waiting for this one! One of my personal favorite DBZ games, though it has its problems like you mentioned. Still love the presentation and gameplay of this one. Thank you for all of the hard work and excellent analysis you put into these retrospectives, Hidden! Btw, been playing this one for YEARS and had no idea I could change the raging soul mode music!!!! I always avoided using it bc the supers mostly, but also bc I hate the default music lol Thanks for pointing that out!
Me and some of my buddys all put it something crazy like 250 hours into this game i loved this series and hope sparkling zero can bring back the golden age of dragonball games
this is one of the few games that actually have cool transformations like the anime and have characters that you don’t ever see anywhere anymore. Tarble, Hachiack ssj 3 broly and Vegeta? This one is one of my all time favorite games .
6:55 correction: no REAL story mode, because certain teams & matchups as well as maybe the use of certain stages give the characters dialoge mid battle to to basicly make a little story mode in it, maybe as far as i remember with cutscenes here & there as well, like when you have goku & krillin in 1 team & lose as base goku first, i'm not sure but i think it triggers that cutscene that let's goku give the spirit bomb he made to krillin
So I gotta remember when Hidden does a review she's mostly doing it from a casual non competitive Stand point. Where I played this game continuously online. the frame rates, button inputs compatibility with moves and characters. Super attacks and combos are things a causal player doesn't really care about but to a online competitor these matter greatly. So I gotta understand both viewpoints.
Thank you for posting this Im currently on a playthrough of the first and this game as of right now actually and Im hyped people still talk about these games they're really that good.
Raging blast 2 was my whole adolescence. I loved galaxy mode. It felt like i was playing with action figures, especially with the roster of what if characters.
Finally, good to see someone really dive into all the different Dragon Ball games in a more detailed and thorough way. I haven't seen all your videos yet, but I like seeing all the videos there so far, really looking forward to seeing you tackle other major titles of the series
Great video, okay game. Really wish Spike basically just kept remastering Tenkaichi 3, until Super came out then release Tenkaichi 4 with DLC packs for new characters and story stages as the anime/manga happened.
I had my opinions about RB2 to be very low compared to BT series, BT3 in particular, despite the graphics looking pretty dope to me - the fact that you've mentioned Raging Soul mode disables your supers and forces you to fight in extreme melee mode. But then there was one tiny bit that I've discovered that ultimately made RB2 one of the dopest DB games I've ever played - there's an equipable item that will enable you to use super and ultimate attacks even in Raging Sou mode. A full Raging Soul combo followed up with an ulti at the end after that awesome ping-pong is the most overkill thing I've ever done in any DB game. If BT3 was 9/10 and RB2 was 6 or 7/10, this mechanic alone brought it up to 9/10 game
2:02 😂😂😂 one of the main reasons why I chose to buy Raging Blast 1 over 2 was precisely because of RB2 art style, I don't like it one bit that they look like plastic toys
I personally like how the characters look. And in my opinion this game has the best super moves in any dragon ball game. And the counter attacks are awesome.
Nice review, this takes me back. I used to watch a lot of game play before I was able to buy it. I was very disappointed that my copy didn't come with the raging blast 2 ost but the tenkaichi 2. It's minor but I feel like the RB2 music was better, shame about the composer controversy.
I experienced this when I repurchased the game awhile back. I genuinely forget what I did to my old copy, I think I sold it but when I got this new copy, I was very confused about the soundtrack. That’s when I learned about the composer’s “plagerism” and so the OST was changed. Made me lose motivation since the soundtrack wasn’t as hype :/
I actually love that it has the BT2 music but the original was good also. I had two discs of RB2 (with original music) and they both stopped working (second one loads but freezes at times) I just play on my gaming laptop.
heres the quick version: raging blast 2 improved on raging blast 1 in every single way possible except for the lack of a proper story mode. gameplay was more fluid, graphics were better, massive character roster.
Raging blast 2 and tenkaichi 3 had my favorite things in all dragonball games . Fusing mid fight its so satisfying and one of my favroite past times fusing to vegito and the verry reason i bacame a Dragon ball fan is the "Commit die moves" . In tenkaichi 3 I fought my cozen who chose majin vegeta and used Final Explosion. He had one health and all i had to do was hit him once! but i got destroyed!! that day forward i became a dragon ball fan for life
Honestly I feel these games were just meh. This was also around the time I got burnt out on Dragon Ball games and it kinda felt like none of them were any fun after Burst Limit and even so Burst Limit feeling as rushed as it, admittedly, was, kinda soured my taste in them for years to come. And it felt like the only time Dragon Ball games intrigued me after that was with Xenoverse and FighterZ. And that was the semi new story that Xenoverse gave off and FighterZ focusing on being an actual fighting game
The problem with this game is it stripped most of the content from the Tenkaichi 3 game and it felt pretty empty. The best thing about it is, it improves the Tenkaichi controls massively overall. I love Tenkaichi 3 as my favorite dragon ball game with tons of content. This one plays better, that's pretty much it. Now I can't wait for Sparking Zero cause it's gonna be a combination of both. Just 1 more day. Lol. Let's Go! 😁😁
22:13 - I was thinking about it for what are they going to do with it in Sparking! Zero... It would be so cool if our character (only while flying) would change his position in Y axis, so always facing the opponent. That would give us freedom in fighting. But it's hard to implement and most likely will not happen (what if you want to move up/down etc. and your character is "laying" on its back in the air). Some other decisions will have to be made. Not sure what really.

In RB, it’s an endless dodge fest and I feel like there has to be a sequence to break that lol.
The first Raging Blast has such an amazing menu and character select. I never understood why in RB2 or BT3, you never got a preview of what costume you’re picking where as the first RB game, you can see from the very moment which costume is costume 2, 3 and so on.
Love when you upload. You should make a retrospective on the 3d era mortal Kombat games if you ever played them!
I actually haven't played any mortal combat games at all
@@HiddenChannel I highly recommend giving deceptions story mode a go for PS2! It's fun and silly! Always here to watch whatever you upload though ❤️😀
Bruh I can tell you had a lot of fun makin this one😂 was concerned for ur health 😂
The effort in this video!! Great work, people like you deserve more attention!
Included in this dragon ball video is a brief history of the world from fire to playstation
You did a wonderful job on this video. Thank you!
Played through all the budokai tenkaichis and raging blasts via emulator, getting ready for that BT4 hype, but Holy shit these classic Z games are incredible, absolute gems and makes me appreciate my childhood even more
Man what do u use to do that and what do u play it on
@anthonyjd707 Ps2 and ps3 emulator, plenty of tutorials on how to do it. Very easy and get the games of vimms lair
@@Rednos444You’ve gotta use a PC for emulators but PCSX2 is a PS2 emulator you can use for the Budokai Tenkaichi games and for the Raging Blasts you can use RPCS3, a PS3 emulator, pretty much the easiest one to use.
You can play all of them on PC @@Rednos444
This game is the reason i want a old generation console to have this nostalgic gem forever
this is one of the few games that actually have cool transformations like the anime and have characters that you don’t ever see anywhere anymore. Tarble, Hachiack ssj 3 broly and Vegeta? This one is one of my all time favorite games .
Not gonna lie, this game make me love Turles, I always played with him. We need more Turles representation
Glad your back :) looks like that sensu bean helped
SENSU BEAN!
@azurawhatever eh, it depends on how you look at it
I played with my cousin. He always got mad when I beat him since he actually owned the game and I beat him on visits. As Goten.
I loved how characters would get vaporized when they when killed with certain ultimate's. I also like the ability to customize character's aura.
Loved playing Raging Blast 1 and 2, Definitely need a remastered..
Japan is very strick on censorship which why it took so long for games to let Gohan have one arm.
Always hated how characters never hit each other fr. And the sounds lol. Loved this short-lived series tho
Thank you for posting this Im currently on a playthrough of the first and this game as of right now actually and Im hyped people still talk about these games they're really that good.
Ngl feels good to be validated after so many years of saying "RB looks better than RB2" and no one agreeing with me lol (at least within my circle)
I need to watch your retrospectives before I blindly buy these games! Great content!
Raging blast 2 was my whole adolescence. I loved galaxy mode. It felt like i was playing with action figures, especially with the roster of what if characters.
Man, I love the side-by-side comparisons of the attacks. Must've been a lot of work, but well worth it.
Also 18:54 the fuck am I looking at?
Finally, good to see someone really dive into all the different Dragon Ball games in a more detailed and thorough way. I haven't seen all your videos yet, but I like seeing all the videos there so far, really looking forward to seeing you tackle other major titles of the series
That intro gave me goodbumps, great job hidden!
Great video, okay game. Really wish Spike basically just kept remastering Tenkaichi 3, until Super came out then release Tenkaichi 4 with DLC packs for new characters and story stages as the anime/manga happened.
I'm not Gona lie but cooler base form ultimate slaps 6:12 love the refence to the movie as well. Definitely my favorite in the game.
A 70 cm² window 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Absolutely amazing video.
I dont even agree with a majority of your criticisms, but the video was just too funny to stop watching.
Earned a sub
2:02 😂😂😂 one of the main reasons why I chose to buy Raging Blast 1 over 2 was precisely because of RB2 art style, I don't like it one bit that they look like plastic toys
I personally like how the characters look. And in my opinion this game has the best super moves in any dragon ball game. And the counter attacks are awesome.
This video is great😭👍 saw the raging blast one n got hype when I saw u post this!!!
I had two discs of RB2 (with original music) and they both stopped working (second one loads but freezes at times) I just play on my gaming laptop.
heres the quick version:
raging blast 2 improved on raging blast 1 in every single way possible except for the lack of a proper story mode. gameplay was more fluid, graphics were better, massive character roster.
Raging blast 2 and tenkaichi 3 had my favorite things in all dragonball games .
Fusing mid fight its so satisfying and one of my favroite past times fusing to vegito
and the verry reason i bacame a Dragon ball fan is the "Commit die moves" . In tenkaichi 3 I fought my cozen who chose majin vegeta and used Final Explosion. He had one health and all i had to do was hit him once! but i got destroyed!! that day forward i became a dragon ball fan for life
I love this channel haha.
The review we needed when the game came out
That song for that intro was pretty cool ngl lol
ALRIIIIIIGHT!!!! HIDDEN COMING BACK WITH THE GAME OF MY LONLEY CHILDHOOD
Been waiting over a year for this one
The graphics looked much better on older 720p flat screen TVs and CRTs
Yo im loving these retrospectives! They've been a fun af look back at the games i played as a kid
Yet again "I've been waiting for this."
Arguably greatest dragon ball game to date ….gonna get beaten by Sparking Zero
It's not Sparking Zero, it's... Sparking! ZERO. 😆
@@PhilipMarcYT😂🤣😂
Aw Hell Yeah
I was waiting for this one 🖤💯
That intro was COLD
11:35 ost name?
this was actually the first and only dragon ball game ive played
16:51 Hit and Run car wash theme is a jam.
these games really need a remake for the modern consoles. maybe they can fix the camera issues, texture quality and shading along with new characters.
Taking all the criticism in stride, the game is still awesome and has aged pretty well, I think.
I’m so glad there’s at least one more person that agrees the art style was a DOWNGRADE from the first title
i once heard that the reason characters look so glossy in recent dbz games is so they look like the toys
Goat game thank you for this video
Thanks for making this
