My cousin and I had some fun with it for sure and probably put the most time into the hero mode because honestly that is the best part of the game. Even if it is kinda lackluster. I remember raging blast 2, there really was no story mode, just selecting characters in the game, and battling against opponents they fought in the anime, and at times had challenges to do in order to officially won and move up a level, I spent weeks trying to complete the entire hero mode to unlock every single characters, and was very proud of myself when I finally unlocked hatchihyack
@@patrickzalatoris3206 What Raging blast 2 lacked in a proper story mode, made up for in its game play. If it wasn't for that game I don't think I'd been a fan. I remember being so excited for this game thinking it'll be the best thing in the world. I went to the midnight release at Gamestop even though I had school the next day (was still in high school at the time). Everyone else was there for Battlefield 3, but I was the only dumb ass there for Ultimate Tenkaichi. Got home, put it into the PS3, waited for it to install, and told all my friends who were still awake I got the game and how hype I was to play it. Great video as always. I remember loving this game as a kid. My brothers and I were addicted to Hero mode and were always waiting to get our turn to play. I think the idea of making our own character itself at the time was enough to have us enjoy it
I borrowed this game from a friend. Played it a lot because it was my only DBZ game at the time until I got Budokai 1 and 3 on the PS2. I was planning on giving it back, but my friend never brought it up. So I kinda forgot about it as it racked up dust. He moved away about half a year later suddenly without mentioning until his last day at school. He never asked for the game back, and I didn't even realize I still had it for like 3 months... I think that sums up it's value.
I got a genuinely "what the fuck were they thinking?" back in the day of its release. Funny thing that I would have a lot of that same reaction with the current state of gaming nowadays
0:02 Tbf The Japanese name is Ultimate Blast, so it's more of a Ultimate culmination of the Raging Blast series specifically, which made sense as the graphic feels more like Raging Blast. But yeah, this game sucks, who in the right mind change the gameplay into this. The QTE in this game just irresponsive, as I'm stuck at Great Ape Vegeta's fight because I can't pass the QTE there. If all they do is retaining the gamplay engine of Raging Blast 2, it would have make into another decent DB game. This game is the start of the low point DB games has hit, until Xenoverse revived the DB games. I always thought that at the very least, if they released the 3DS port of DB Heroes into the West, the DB video games wouldn't have suffered there as tha series was what revived the DB franchise as it brings more original contents.
also. You can somewhat mix the heavy and light attacks once you start the combo after selecting the green and purple, by pressing up, down, forward, and back button. And then, you can switch the combo attack.
This was the first game I ever returned to a store. I made the mistake of playing it on the hardest available difficulty. At some point the whole rock-paper-scissors game kept going in the A.I.'s favor and I quit. The next day went back to GameStop and returned it. I got a better game. 😀
I sunk HOURS into the RB and Budokai games when I was a kid. When this game got announced and I saw the preview images for it, I was hyped beyond belief. I told my best friend at the time that he HAD to pick it up before I even owned it After 100% it, I told him that I regretted buying it. UT is to this day one of the most disappointing games Ive ever played. Thank God XV and beyond turned out mostly decent
While this game does suck, it does have some good from it. It's still one of the best looking Dragon Ball games and the first English Dragon Ball game that lets you create a character and customize it. To me, if it wasn't for this game, we probably wouldn't have had Xenoverse or wouldn't have been the same. Trust me, I put myself through the pain of not only beating the game, but getting everything, including the trophies
And back at it again. I never got around to playing this one but I was turned off at the time since I was buried in Raging Blast and its sequel as well as Tenkaichi 3, but I'm so glad I didn't play this one. Also, this made my day getting that notification that you had a new video out❤
I see why because of the fighting but I love it for the details in the moves energy attacks, the mini games in story, and having the best looking animated cutscenes of dbz of all time so far and my favorite finally flying nimbus in open world (first game),even though it's a map.
I remember i played one round against my friend, lost, and just put the controller down It felt like i was just watching cinematics throughout the match
As a top RB1 player, and the #1 competitive for Raging Blast 2 and as a pretty good BT3 player... All I have to say regarding "Ulttimate Tenkaichi" is just what Goku once said: "ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS"
Ultimate Tenkaichi was the first big disappointment of my life. I really wanted to play with my DBZ OC... by the time Xenoverse came out I didn't care anymore.
I remember my friend had this game, and I'd always call it the dbz version of rock, paper, scissors 😅 This game literally used the Budokai 3 dragon rush as its core gameplay mechanic, like who the hell thought that would be a good idea for a tenkaichi game?! 😅 Even the first game in the BT series is more enjoyable than this because it offers more freedom to the player in a fight. Hell, that was literally one of the main selling points of the Budokai Tenkaichi series, to be a dbz simulation that allows the player to have DragonBallz style fights in a 3d environment. This game is way too restrictive for the series that it's meant to be a part of. Even the first Budokai Tenkaichi is not this restrictive, and that's not a good look for a game with "Ultimate" in its title. I expected it to keep the gameplay from the previous games in the series and add on to it. Instead, it took several steps back 😑
Funnily enough, Ultimate Tenkaichi is not considered part of the Tenkaichi series. The game only has the name due to winning a poll, but the Japanese name being "Ultimate Blast". The Tenkaichi games are called "Sparking" in Japan, so yeah.
Idk who told you that, But the game was counted whenever the sneak peek trailer was announced on stage, like for real look it up, the presenter counts ultimate Tenkaichi. It's disappointing
Super has destroyed DBs legacy with its blatant disregard and contradictions of the source material. It may have saved your childhood, but ruined mine.
Are you going to cover the peak of Dragon Ball gaming Dragon Ball Z for Kinect? That's going to be my next retrospective after the one for this month 😆
Idk why people take up interest in fighting games where you only need one button. The original Budokai series needs to come back. It has a good middle ground on casual and in depth gameplay

The game itself is bad because the gameplay relies mostly/heavily on Rock Scissors Paper fighting style approach, which it isn't very appealing for many reasons... the fighting factor in this DBZ game it can become very repetitive and boring, that's why many DBZ fans don't like this game in my opinion... 🤷🏻♂️✌️
I never finished Hero Mode. Didn't matter what I tried, Red Shenron was unbeatable. I payed full price for this shit back in the day. Today I would never EVER buy a game full price again. And never on release. The reanimated cutscenes were neat though.
I remember voting for the Tenkaichi title because they couldn't come up with a new title and I guess I played myself lmao I REALLY love the graphics tho like AHHH
It sucks because i was excited to buy a game with my money as a kid and this game disappointed me after playing Budokai & Budokai Tenkaichi But I still played it and cherished it because i was a kid who loved to play the games I had. It had so many cool features like the new hero mode, cool graphics, boss fights, cutscenes and a 🔥 soundtrack (which is saying something because all DBZ soundtracks are great). It’s gotta a lot of polish on the outside but the meat of the game sucks.
My favorite dragon Ball Z game no cap love that we got our creative character (granted it can only be a male Saiyan) it was the first dragon Ball Z game I played that had its original story for your character it's has its problem I can't speak on the dragon Rush for Budokai 2 an 3 never played them had friends that played them I was more of a Tenkaichi, raging blast, xenoverse guy. Glad you got to this one
I liked this game but of course rb3 would of been a dream come true and should of happened back then. I was playing rb2 last night and wished rb3 did happen but yeah they were on MASSIVE drugs for making the game play like thie lmao.
Bought this when it came out, beat it and hated almost everything about it. Years later, I thought I was being too harsh so I bought it again and hated it more. Not as bad as sagas but definitely one of the worst dbz console games
This game was a guilty pleasure for me, i spent countless hours on it back in the day. I can acknowledge that the game gets repetitive real fast and shouldn't even be considered a Tenkaichi game
This game disappointed me like no other never stopped asking this stupid coin flip was here in a word intrusive forgot I can't read the HUD at all wasn't even sure which was my health who is the great ape in hero mode i will always question
I have fond memories of this game actually. Primarily from the Hero Mode as the customization had a lot going for it if you went for completion. You could change your aura and Ki colors, your aura effects (I had flames) and even your own theme music! The music would change depending on the situation your character was in. Are you winning? Losing? Using your Burst mode or whatever? That made me hype back in the day. What was even more fun to me was that transforming into a Super Saiyan also changed your moveset and theme music too! In base form, I used a ton of Kamehamehas but when I turned Super Saiyan, I picked the most brutal cutscene moves I could find to give off that "I'm seriously mad now" feel. I had the theme music reflect that as well. Personally, I will not recommend this game to anyone because it IS boring for most. I had my fun because I learned how to cheese the CPU by taking advantage of how dumb and predictable it was. Not only that but certain skills and fighting styles opened up infinite combos. I did it to skip the grinding. Which there is a LOT of. My favorite memory is while I grinding and training under Janemba, my friend, another DBZ fan, was watching me play and he questioned what I was doing. I told him "I'm training under Janemba to learn his moves." He said it just looked like I was kicking his ass for no reason and that he was screaming at me to stop. We laughed as I continued to rip Janemba a new one until my PS3 died mid battle. I was devastated until my friend told me "He told you to stop, bro." We laughed and I went to get my console fixed. Bad game, good memories.
It technically isnt 50/50 due to effects of smash and rush combos, depending on the situation you can predict what the opponent does, but these effects essentially make the game so much lamer
Funny enough, the type you choose in the oc story mode makes a huge difference, especiallyin the skills. You get fewer skills but the small build is excellent with ki Blast and ki resistance, meaning you Blast better, bring very good for boss fights to get through them faster. Large oc is good at physical attacks and taking physical hits which is good for meleeing the bot less, plus certain fighting styles give more range. Small oc has a Teen Gohan super where you could put an enemy in an infinite combo to death in spirit high. If found myself struggling the most with standard, sure there are a bunch of supers, but their tedious too difficult on getting. Plus some may not be the best or put you in a disadvantageous situation where the other two I found good supers that could be looped. Plus not excelling meant I was in battles longer and meant I was more likely to lose if I slipped up once
I was in grade 12 when this game came out. My sis bought it for me bc she knew I loved the ps2 games and saw it had ‘Tenkaichi’ in the name. Little did she know this game sucked lol but honestly I didn’t mind the character models. Thought they looked pretty cool in motion.
I played this game a lot as a kid was very excited for a dbz game with a character creator. I enjoyed it for the most part, but after I beat it I dropped it for Raging blast 2 lmao
I enjoyed that game to some extent but the Rock, Paper, Scissors mechanic in the gameplay is what i hate most about that game. I picked up my copy of that game at my local Gamestop store on release day while in my Goku cosplay which am probably THE only Dragonball fan in the whole world to have picked up that Dragonball game while in Dragonball cosplay. When it comes to 1 on 1 online battles' that game is the only Dragonball game am undefeated online in even though it was against just 1 person in multiple matches in that game but i retired undefeated from online battles in that game to ensure i forever stay undefeated online in that game. The story mode cutscenes are pretty neat even though i generally hate QTEs in games. Hero mode was okay despite the limited customizable options. Any Dragonball game that allows me to fly around the world map especially with a custom character is a plus for me. I think if it wasn't for that game' the Xenoverse series probably wouldn't exist even though Ultimate Tenkaichi is a failed game. That game to me has THE best environment destruction out of any home release Dragonball game ever which is one of that game's biggest strengths despite them being scripted.
I remember helping vote for the name of the game, what a darn letdown...

But I still played it and cherished it because i was a kid who loved to play the games I had.
18:55 this edit scared the shit out of me. i thought my monitor was falling over
Ah yes I used to call this game DBZ: Ultimate Rock Paper Scissors. Great retrospective as always 🤞🏽💯
I love the use of sonic music in the background
I liked this game but of course rb3 would of been a dream come true and should of happened back then. I was playing rb2 last night and wished rb3 did happen but yeah they were on MASSIVE drugs for making the game play like thie lmao.
paused the video at 15:48...... dear lord 😂
Bought this when it came out, beat it and hated almost everything about it. Years later, I thought I was being too harsh so I bought it again and hated it more. Not as bad as sagas but definitely one of the worst dbz console games
Dude i think my cousin had this game and was my fist exposure to dbz. Then forgot about it untill @Clinkeroith played dbz games.
If i’m not mistaken is this game more of QTE type of game?
Yep and they didn’t have time to make the GT storyline so they put it in a custom story mode. Also SSJ2 Goku has SSJ4 voice lines against Shenron.
This game was a guilty pleasure for me, i spent countless hours on it back in the day. I can acknowledge that the game gets repetitive real fast and shouldn't even be considered a Tenkaichi game
Ultimate Tenkaichi invokes in me the memory of me destroying my ps3 controller :)
It's always so insane when a company invents a money printing machine and throws it away because they feel the need to "innovate". Halo 4itus.
Hidden, you've quickly rose to one of my favorite RUclipsrs almost as fast as your channel is growing
Wow, thanks so much :D
This game disappointed me like no other never stopped asking this stupid coin flip was here in a word intrusive forgot I can't read the HUD at all wasn't even sure which was my health who is the great ape in hero mode i will always question
Will you ever do battle of z or have I missed that one?
Tenkaichi 2 will always be my personal favourite, 2000s will always be in my heart.
Any day with a new upload from hidden is a good ! Love you hidden
Hell yeah a new drop of Hidden :)
I played this game a lot as a kid was very excited for a dbz game with a character creator. I enjoyed it for the most part, but after I beat it I dropped it for Raging blast 2 lmao
Curious about your thoughts on Xenoverse 2, but… That’d mean covering Xenoverse 1 first which is-
Rough to go back to, lmao
I ENJOYED THE GAME BACK THEN THE NORMAL FIGHT AND THE GIANT FIGHT EVEN HERO MODE WAS FUN I UNLOCK ALL TROPHIES FOR THE GAME ON PS3
Spike ruining something? Are you sure? Never heard that bef... JUMP SUPER STARS!!!
man you deserve more views your content is really good
Name one person who says this the best tenkaichi game I simply don’t believe you
I though you were going to make the Badong joke from Kung-Pow the moment you gave the "B" for boring ; that would've been neat, though haha
it still visually the best looking Dragon Ball game of all time the destruction of the map was the best of all Dragon Ball Z games
Ultimate Tenkaichi is like the Catfight Game in Yakuza 0
This game is why I am not interested in tenkaichi 4 until I see gameplay. Fool me once...
I was actually thinking your were going to say this game gets a B for balls because it sucks! Boring works too though 🤣
Why is ur audio so low
