For me, it’s because Jotaro was a HUGE factor for a LOT of parts. And the fact that many of the themes have some sort of Jotaro leitmotif, however, Jotaro is also one of those that started a lot of the investigations on stands, so like Jonathan he had a large influence on JoJo in general.
Yep, if you see what parts Jotaro is in (besides part 5 he isn’t the biggest there) he’s a plot contributor at the very least

The answer is obvious really.
It’s the goddamn hat. I’m not even joking (much), when the hat itself can be used as a Jojo reference and people will understand it, you know it’s a big part of his design. The way he wears it, the way it often covers one of his eyes, it all adds a ton to his cool factor while also being a fashion piece, which I feel kind of ties together the identity of Jojo characters looking both badass and showy or flamboyant.
Just try to imagine scenes of Jotaro without his hat. Does it look less cool to you? I think it does. And Araki knew the hat was cool. Any time he loses the hat he seems quite eager to get it back quickly. At the end of the Geb fight I think he actually remarked on how the stand knocked his hat off, which is kind of a big deal since it seems like it’s basically glued onto his head.
Jotaro’s hat ain’t no joke.
MF went to the barber and ordered that damn Hat haircut for his hair, that shit's his hair my man haha

This is why he is the protagonist in the game JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Eyes of Heaven. I hope this alternate universe is made into an actual anime season part 9 or even a anime JoJo movie. Well, I’m still happy with the game I’m also happy with the new part 9 announcement and the face reveal of the new protagonist. I also prefer JoJo All Star Battle over eyes of heaven. So since I posted that comment my views have changed.
I think of Joseph when I think of jojo. Mostly because he's brave, he's smart, he's witty, he runs away, his victories have luck as a contributing factor as well, he doesn't panic and always keeps a cool head. His characteristics are what I think of for a protagonist when I think of someone in a "bizarre adventure".
I have similar thoughts about it. Joseph defines the series as a whole the best in my opinion but I think the one and true JoJo is Jonathan.
I think a big reason why many don’t is because Battle Tendency was not popular until the anime
Is not like everyday you defeat an immortal being just by being lucky as hell
Part 3 is set in the late 80’s.
JJBA is published in the late 80’s.
Also, the stands.
I read Stone Ocean while I knew how the part ended. I knew about the heaven plan and how it gets executed. Yet I still got so hyped when Araki brought Jotaro back into the story. I had this thought that maybe, Jotaro could save the day. Jotaro, Kujo frickin' Jotaro was coming back. It seemed that Jolyne and the gang would have a chance against Pucci if they bought enough time.
However, things didn't go that way, and I think it was a great choice. I personally didn't like Jotaro beating up Kira at the end of part 4. The scene was awesome, but I felt that it would've been better if Josuke and the residents of Morioh were the ones to give the final blow to Kira. In part 6, Jotaro chooses not to beat Pucci. Instead, he chooses to save Joylne, his daughter. (and this eventually leads to Emporio's victory over Pucci)
This is Jotaro's arc. He started as an inexperienced, rough character who didn't know how to express his feelings to the ones he loves. In part 4 he matures into a calm, collected mentor and learns how to express his care and concern for Koichi and Josuke. Finally, in part 6, he tries to be a father for Jolyne, a father she never had during her youth. He sacrifices his life and the world for her because life without her would be meaningless.
Anime wise, Jotaro has been in every part. He’s in the opening of part one, very end of part two, main jojo of part three, support jojo of part four, cameo in the beginning of part five, and part six hasn’t come out as of this comment but he’s the support jojo again in part six

Yeah these guys are great
Jotaro is the most depressed JoJo imo 'cause he lose his friends, always haunted by other stand users, f**cked up marriage, busy with his work.. man.. Jotaro deserve better..
Because is the protagonist of the most iconic (and loved) Jojo part.
I would definitely not say most loved
I like to think that Parts 1 and 2 had similar stories yet were unique in their own aspects..
But then Part 3 changed almost everything about Jojo yet still feels relevant to 1 and 2, it focused on multiple characters, Stand abilities, and an iconic villain. To me Part 3 established The Jojo's Bizarre Adventure mixed in with Jotaro's personality as whole.
It's the most iconic Part of the entire series with the most iconic characters and villains with an amazing end battle that captures everything in which pays homage to passing the torch in the Joestar bloodline carried all the way through Stone Ocean.
I’m only there for him, just Jotaro.
Jotaro-Kun

I think a big influence is the fact that Jotaro vs Dio is probably the most iconic fight in the series, partly because of the various memes involving it such as "oh? you're approaching me?" and "ROAD ROLLER DA". I feel like both of those factors would give him a reputation and be known even to people who aren't familiar with the series

I think Jotaro's also considered the face of JJBA because Stardust Crusaders was the first part of Jojo that really blew up in Japan
I agree to an extent, but I do feel it does hurt Part 1 & 2 a bit unfairly to say this, especially because of the legacy of both Jonathan's personality traits trickling down through the JoJos & his relationship with Dio/DIO, but also because of Joseph's role as an integral piece of the JoJo world, connecting Part 2, 3, and 4 together, passing the torch to Jotaro in 3, and to Josuke in 4, just as much as Jotaro does.
But Part 3 sold the best and is the most well-known lol, so its pretty much guaranteed Jotaro will be the mascot forever... unless Steel Ball Run anime sells like hot cakes
Because my grandson is cool
I don’t know jotaro just looks like the main character of jojo like main main character
At first it was Jotoro till I actually watched the anime and read the manga so I often think of Joseph as the main Jojo.
Jotaro is literally the only JoJo to appear in EVERY part in the original universe.
I checked the upload date when I heard the ending lol
I think of Joseph. Jotaro is pretty tame.Joseph had the most silly and bizarre personality of the mcs.
Jotaro is brilliant, has iconic look, plus he is smart and has good detective skills and for that Part 3 will always be the most iconic.
My favorite JoJo is Josuke because he actually reacts to things then Jotaro because he’s so damn cool.
His design and the fact that he’s the first stand user Jojo are reason enough to be as iconic as he is, and it’s really cool that Araki really cares about his character arc and refuses to let Jotaro be flanderized.
I can't speak for anyone else (maybe because he's japanese native and the core audience and author were playing favorites) but for me it's mainly because of the 90s ova and the manga. I saw the 90s anime first and in just a few frames of movement I just felt that this character had such a presence about him, not to mention he's the main guy in the part that would go on to identity the rest of the series.
He's the only character who is the same ethnicity as me as well 🇯🇵/🏴/🇮🇹 character like that are rare
Part 6 jotaro is probably my favorite jotaro cause he truly does care about Jolyne and if dio's minions weren't coming for him he could've had a life with his wife and jolyne.Part 4 jotaro is also rlly good but i like part 6 jotaro a bit more
I think the symbolism with there stands is very cool the way araki portrays it and there relation to jotaro.
For example, josuke’s crazy diamond had a very similar color palette to jotaro but had a more mechanical feel and had heart symbolism and a helmet, like holy div-I mean the world.
And then you have giorno’s golden experience who has the color palette of the world but has more of that flowey ancient spirit protector vibe to it like ocean ma-I mean star platinum!
Also, every punchy fast strong stand user has usually been very head strong and mentally quick because of how stands represent your psyche, not only that, but they are all delinquents in some way, making them rebellious and maybe even quick to anger, and if not quick to anger just in some kind of way angry, representing in a fast flurry of punches the kind that could be brung out when enraged.
Also a part literally NOBODY TALKS ABOUT when it comes to star platinum is it’s second ability, no not star finger, the ability of enhanced eyesight and to give jotaro that eyesight. We see this done in DiU when scouting josephs ship and we know this is a unique ability cause of the ebony devil fight in part 3. This lines up very well with his analytical side of his personality and his ability to pick up on small details. This amplified by his powerful will, headstrength, and mental prowess gives him an incredibly busted stand!
you should make a video of ur least favourite stands
My two faves are Jotaro and Josuke4 (shoutout to Giorno too❤️), but *especially* when they're together. Josuke is adorable on his own, but he gets reactions out of Jotaro that no one else would dare. They're absolutely hilarious together!
I didn't like Jotaro in part 3 but as the series went on I liked him more. The way I see it Jotaro simply matured from being a reserved badass I'm part 3(I like to think he was serious because his mom's life was at stake) to being a more open badass in part 4 then eventually being a father in part 6. Kujo Jotaro was my 1st Jojo, simple as that. *Don't think anime.* Other JJBA stuff for Part 3 released well before the anime. I think the 2D Capcom fighting game hit arcades in 2000 or 2001. They ported it to the PSOne. An official, English release of the manga released a little while later (1 year? 3 years?).
Jotaro has an iconic character design that appeals to most people.
idk why but when I think of jojo I just think of the title screen.
Good video by the way
My personal favorite Jojo and protag in Jjba he’s the poster boy of Jojo for a reason
Short answer, he has been in so many parts.
I think of Joseph. He's the only protagonist who is actually called Jojo consistently throughout his entire run, other than Jonathan. He's also very important to parts 3 and 4, whereas part 4 could have no Jotaro and... not that much would change, thematically? i feel like Joseph is better utilized than Jotaro, even in part 3 honestly.
But I might be a weird exception because I have a lot of love for the "family tragedy" of the Joestars, and Joseph was core to that aspect of the story because of his ties to Erina and Speedwagon and how he seemed doomed to die a young death, then became the only member of his family to live to an old age due to his insane luck. The protagonist of part 4 is even his bastard son and you get to see Josuke's complicated feelings on the matter and Joseph trying to impress his son and do at least one thing right by him.
Jotaro meanwhile doesn't have any emotionally heavy hitting scenes for the most part, despite being a hardass. Most of the time the characters go, GASP, that's Jotaro with his Star Platinum, and he goes Yare Yare and kicks their ass or doesn't.
My opinion might change once I watch part 6.
oh wait i forgot how araki said if stardust crusaders went back to part 2 u would see hermit purple so joseph is the first stand user thats a jojo but the first stand user introduced is jotaro
The first stand user, an important character in 3 parts, iconic design... defeated the most iconic villain...
He's in the most parts, he outshines Josuke in part 4 despite the fact that Joseph was buried in part 3. Also he was involved in part 5 and heavily in 6. Jonathan, Josuke, Giorno, and Jolyne only appear in their own parts.
He outshines his own daughter too
The main villain was most afraid of jotaro
But he just won because jotaro was just heavily nerfed more nerfed than part 4
Jotaro will always be my absolute favorite and this video perfectly explains why
Jotaro is the GOAT 🤛🏿
He's the first one I think of since when I wasn't deep into this series yet and I played the demo of All Star Battle, I figured he was the main character of the series just due to him being playable in the demo and being the central figure in the intro. Plus, I just really really like his design and fighting style (was a bit disappointed that the anime and subsequent games changed the color palette to mostly grey though) so that helped. Joseph is probably my favorite Jojo from a personality and story stand point (no pun intended) but Jotaro's definitely the one I see most as the main character.
when i started reading jojo i thought gappy was like THE JoJo
The fact that Jotaro has the logo of Lucky Land Communications (Araki's Company) on his clothing gives you an idea why he's the face of JJBA 😅
