// LOW POLY BREAKS [DISC. 1] //
LOW POLY BREAKS is a DJ mix series of my favourite ambient Jungle & Drum and Bass tracks found in 90s/00s video games. DISC. 1 is a mixture of well known classics and some lesser known hidden gems i've been digging for recently.

Ape Escape soundtrack goes so hard its crazy
Yeah, that got me hooked from the very beginning of the mix. It makes for such a good opening track.
One of the only things I'd consider a masterpiece.
soichi terada is a god
what a game, what a soundtrack
Soichi Terada has a wonderful Discography outside of just Ape Escape check it out ^.^
I was able to see Soichi Terada (Ape Escape composer) at an electronic music festival in Belfast called AVA. I didn't expect to see him there but he was playing a great set and he blew me away. Such a talented guy and he really knew how to get the crowd going in the most fun ways. He was so full of energy and made one of those paper fortune tellers and used it as a puppet and let 'it' sing into the microphone. Sounds really dramatic but it really was one of the highlights of my life so far. The sun was shining and everything was good
That’s rad
Sounds blessed as hell. Thank you for sharing.
A sunny day in spring to early summer fits the perfect vibe for this music.
thx for sharing man
that's really nice.. thanks for saying about that.. he sounds like a great guy
so much nostalgia for me in ape escape
Your so right. What a game
The Ape Escape soundtracks have no business being so fire this many years later still.
FACTS
HELL YEAH
I remember when I was 9 or 10. Ape Escape had only just come out on the PS1 and I had it for a birthday present.
I was addicted to it, and absolutely loved the music so much.
I would pause the game just to listen to the music. I like to think that I liked it before it was cool.
@@dancoulson6579 fuck that I hope ape escape music becomes cool.
FIrst game that used ALL the buttons! @@dancoulson6579
Bro knows the exact location in the brain that needs to be itched. Fantastic video/mix
Something about cartoony-styled PS1 graphics... soulful
Video games used to hit different.
Got hella homework. Thanks for the study fuel. 🎶
hope you enjoy. cheers!
I would introvertedly game for hours on these consoles when I was younger. It wasn't until I got older I really got into Jungle Drum & Bass. Now listening to this while the retro game enthusiasm still burns strong is like a blissful dream. The meeting of two focuses in my life was always there just not heard by my young sleeping mind.
I felt like I got hit by a wave when that Ape Escape music started
i can honestly say: same
I liked this video within 5 seconds
Track 3 for sheep raider - I'm literally weeping thinking about how my tastes as an adult have been formatively shaped by the games I played as a kid.
It's a great soundtrack :)
Awesome dude love your work. My 1 1/2 old boy dance and chill to this while playing lego Duplo :D
that's super cute
amazing parent :)
Thats adorable haha
Keep him play with real toys!
That’s adorable. Good to see some parents still love their children!
Is it that more and more people comes back to this genre of music recently ?
ytb been recommending me a lot of this stuff these days
Same, btw. It's so chill, maybe we'll all die in 2023.
@@Lambdaphile i hope so
Yes there’s been a resurgence underground and appreciation for d&b
We finally remembered it 🤷♂️
Same, Im so happy to see this style of EDM coming back
Ape escape 1 and it's ost holds a special place in my heart and soul
we need more soichi terada 1 hour mixes
Woah, the first track from Ape Escape gave me intense nostalgia. I played this when I was a kid but forgot almost everything about it, just hearing the music made a bunch of memories reappear
I need to replay it now, I was so small I could barely understand what was going on
nobody cares about your nostalgia
As someone who first played through it this last year, Ape Escape is AMAZING. The soundtrack is incredible but it's also just a part of what makes this game so good
Ape Escape Time Station was literally my introduction to Drum n Bass and I didn't even notice
When you get a House DJ to do your game's OST
This is legit fucking awesome bro. i was born in 1991 and this makes me feel like im home again. Thank You Mysterious Cool Person.
heck yeah I was born 92. we're in the same boat!
I was born in 1891, still rockin, even in my casket!
How am I supposed to chill, study, and focus when the visuals are this dope???
First time listening/watching this mix, and I can already tell its iconic. Similar to those early Lo-Fi mixes with vintage anime GIFs back in like 2016.
The first ones to do it, kickstarting a massive genre & subculture movement.
Breakcore/90s DnB resurgence is about to blow up, and the RUclips algorithm is really pushing it.
This is the first time where I've ever seen a mix within this genre coincide with the on-screen visuals so well, creating an entire immersive experience filled with ethereal nostalgia for catering to late millennials/early gen Z.
Truly a contemporary work of art that immerses the senses with a nostalgia-evoking, trance-like, visual soundsape.
gen zs don’t know any of these. They’re too young unless they’re serious gamers or have older siblings/parents that are gamers
@@alexm.c.312 Gen Z goes back as far as '97 so it's not out of the question, and you don't have to play a game the year it came out. I was born in 2001 and some of my fondest/earliest memories are of playing PS2 in daycare. I even have friends younger than me that had the N64 as their first console. Gatekeeping aint it chief
@@rhysking3597 lmao who’s gatekeeping. I’m not saying these games or consoles are only for a certain age group I’m just saying lots of people your age most likely don’t know most of these. That’s not gatekeeping at all
@@rhysking3597 He's saying some of the obscure games you probably werent aware of. like for example 6:00
that guy is a relic.
as a genzer these gmes and the music suuuuuuuuuuuucks lolz
our gen is best evur, call of nitecraft and rapstep is way beter
jus seen on reddit the trans pack dlc is cumin out,so excitted
im admin and spen 50 owhas a week on there
I grew up playing Nintendo, I remember when the PS1 and Dreamcast came out but I never had any of those systems. It blows my mind seeing how many games had DnB tracks, good ones at that
Yeah it's a total trip going back and finding all these hidden bangers isn't it? Thanks for listening
Good music to absentmindedly stare out of a train window to.
Watching this later, saving it for now.
That transition into White Out is ridiculous
I miss that time
The Sheep Raider track is the real hidden gem. 🔥🔥💎
Pizza Hotline is making great 90's ps1 vibe subconscious flow tracks. I sleep to these. Takes away my anxiety.
I used to sleep to LTJ Bukem mixes a lot
Amazing to read this. Thanks!
@@T_D_B_ “LTJ Bukem, DRS - Constellation” has me feeling like I’m floating before I fall asleep 😴💤🐬
it helps me space out but concentrate at the same time 😂 haha
Pizza hotline are amazing for 90s DNB tracks.
Ape Escape is the reason I love drum and bass
Great era for this music
i put this sht on and immediately fell asleep idk why its just too chill
Sheep Raider OST has no business going this hard
Ape escape will always be one of my favorite games and the soundtrack is so iconic
This is so good for the treadmill. Absolute bangers non-stop and visuals to keep me entertained. I'm an old boy now, nearly 40, and this music and games are what I was all about. Takes me right back, thank you.
Loved reading this.
39yo now myself. Played ape escape when it was first released. Still play ps1 games, play my 90's records (among others) and drive a car that's 43 years old. Love the classics and keep them current for the most part. What a fantastic slice of nostalgia and fantastic mix here. Many thanks to the uploader
Great to hear! Keep on that treadmill 💨💨💨
No lie Ape Escape was kinda my main introduction to DNB back then
I bought a ps2 and a dream cast just for Tokyo xtreme racer, thank you for showing it. same cars I drive as well
I never expect Sheep Raider to have a DNB and Jungle mix soundtrack, despite being a Looney Tunes PlayStation game.
ape escape changed my life. my grandma made a me a custom shirt like spike and let me die my hair red and spike it. like nothing comes close to that game. it made me who i am
Wow, what a grandma!
this is great! hell ya
Reunion from Winback Covert Operations would be a great addition to volume 2
90s and early 2000s has a special place in my heart, so many good games and memories.. Before social media etc.
just want to say tokyo xtreme racer is a wonderful touch for this great compilation
"I'm goin' for it!"
Game devs had an imagination back then
Correction, game devs had freedom and were insentivised to explore
more great stuff my dude! keep it up. wrapping Christmas presents to this right now lol
Nice one pappa P! Stoked to know you like this vibe 💙
Is someone going to get a game? ;-)
whoever you are, thank you for this
the fact that you got footage from A1's Snowboarding game is crazy... i feel so old
The golden age of gaming is behind us, it died in the early 2010's
That Ridge Racer footage is perfect!
To me, "L E V E L S E L E C T" is the best album of 2022. Regardless of music genre.
14:36 im in heaven
Deep late 90s ps1 vibe. It is like TK3 intro mixed with grand turismo
this is art
"!!! IM GOIN FOR IT!" - spike
I love this but at the same time it’s making me sad. Nostalgia hitting hard
Same
Yeah agree, the good old days... Sigh
What's insane is figured out drum and bass is the music of my bones....like it understands me like I understand it....but low key I've been a gamer all my life and it's funny to go back and see moments in games where my energies were at peak because of the music either in them or you know cartoons or anime. My god all moments were either edm or drum and bass liquid or jungle. Gods socks that's a trippy mind fuck.... that being said. LONG LIVE HOSPITAL Records
yesss!!
Just came to say Level Select album is dope. made by Pizza Hotline themselves. Listen to it! DO IT!
10:29 The Offing [Sega Marine Fishing, Dreamcast] is soooooo goood. I always end up checking to see what it's from when I hear it lol
this is so good, sounds so fresh but also brings me right back to the childhood weekends spent playing n64 ❤
So good
This mix is dope. Love this type of music to this day.
Apparently my 3 year old does too. I put this in her headphones and she drifted off to sleep!
This is the way…
I love that this music still can vibe with anyone and that even kids these days still love it makes me feel more love for this genre
aPE eSCAPE IS SUCH A BEAUTIFUL GAME
Had my caps on by accident.
@@ex-x7079 we should have caps on all things positive nowadays, we need more of that
Just got my tapes from bandcamp! Sounds great lads job well done!
You were my best discovery of 2022 in regards to music. Incredible work here!
amazing to read that, thanks!
Takes me back in the best way ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
Absolutely loved ape escape as a kid, banger opener
Me encantó la intervensión de Sheep Raider en el 32:05, es uno de mis juegos favoritos de toda la vida
Magnifica la flauta en todo el ost de Sheep Raider.
i knew someone was going to put the Sega Marine Fishing Drum n Bass. its so good.
ape escape and metal gear solid were the first games ever that i've seen on the ps1, back in those days it was really MAGICAL, great memories
Tokyo Highway Challenge for the Dreamcast looks fricken amazing 😎
more cowbell
Best mix of this music I can find online - brilliant stuff
Love this mix so damn much, especially mixed with the visuals.
I’m just waiting patiently for this to be the status quo again
90s-00s Video Game Composers were a different breed...
I clearly remember this monkey game is jungle style BGM so smooth so nice, and I play this game about the 20 years ago, was a kids.
I miss playing my brothers sega saturn, amazing
pitching up Alpine Glow 🔥🔥🔥
So glad you've made these longer compilative mixes. Looking forward to anything else you but out, wether it be DnB/Jungly or more ambient/Vaporwavy
That's awesome thanks. Yeah people seem to enjoy it so hopefully a disc 2 is coming
Yeah. You did it. Just ordered all four cassettes. Keep it going. Cheers@@pizzahotline_
Played PSO with you on the Dreamcast a few years back! Happy to see you doing so well with these killer mixes. Subbed!
Nice to see you Hobby! Thanks for dropping in 🍕🌹
Saving this for my driving mix!!!
It's on my SoundCloud too 💖
I thought this was just some modern underground music producers, until I heard the Sheep Raider music. It really keeps me thinking about how modern producers take inspiration from actual real references from the past.
you are in your prime broooo, pizza hotline is in other level
'90s liquid dnb gos brrrr.
man just gets it
Shout out to all those that couldn't afford a PS1 /Dreamcast in the 90s but new exactly what was going on outside with dnb / and jungle.
cannot believe the transition into white out. Insane
Damn the animation for Sheep Raider was really good for a psx game
I love that these comps are a thing
Yooooo I was just thinking about that fishing game I loved it had it on ps2
Sega marine fishing, this footage is from a Dreamcast 🌀
"I'm goin' for it!!!"
love this so muchhhh i'm high on coffee and this jungle characteristic type of beat makes me concentrate.deep.
JAMI track three WTF what a banger
Nothing but love and melancholy in this comment section, I love it.
this makes waiting for your next release a bit easier
thanks for the mix! pizza hotline forever!
any time, thanks for dropping in :)
What a perfect selection of tracks, truly great work.
ultra chill ありがと 💜💜💜
