    I learned more from this video than I did in a week long photo printing workshop. Tremendously helpful. Ansswered nearly all of my questions re: Epson P900 printer.

    Thank you Eric for a very informative video. I was struggling with the driver for the ET-8550 and could not get rid of the AirPrint version until I watched the section about the correct way to add the printer using the Software option rather than the default automatic entry listed by the MAC OS settings. Just as a note, it took a few different tries to finally have the printer listed in the software listed drivers. I am finally able to launch the Epson print layout and have the ET-8550 listed as the printer of choice.
    Thanks

    I was a Lightroom Classic diehard for many years. Now I use Bridge, ACR, and Epson Print Layout as the mainstays of my workflow. My organization and print quality has never been better. This arrangement seems to work best with many film scans in the archive as well.

    I just came on board 4/21/2024.I've used the Epson Print Layout . Thank You for making easeir to understand how to use it better.
    I likely refer to it several times until I embed the workflow comfortably .I use Epson PSC900 and love to print mostly B/W .
    My question to you is.Do you have a workflow( print-out ) chart that I can refer to. I do have 2 Monitors. that makes it easier for me to follow and understand the seqence that I should follow . I can then keep my Work Print on Sreen 1. and your video on Screen 2 lazy I just want the toolsI need handy. I will continue to Follow your Videos. Regardless
    handy. I will continue to Follow your Videos. Regardless, I appciate your Website,
    Thank you

    Hello from Italy. In "the rest of the world" we do use other sizes, other than A*: we just call them differently.
    For example 4x6" is 10x15cm, 5x7" is 13x18 cm and 13x19" is A3+.
    We definitely do not use Legal, Letter or 8x10".

    I am watching this and am finding it really interested and helpful. I am in the UK and us Epson print layout but I don't have loads of the settings and options you have. Very strange. I dont have any where near the amount of papaer types that is your version. also the part at the start of your video where you choose your printer and change it from airprint etc. dont have these options. I have uninstalled and when it installs my printer is there and no options anywhere to see printer options. very strange,
    I am running windows and printo is the ecotank ET-8550

      Hello Steve. Epson Print Layout isn't compatible with Epson Eco-Tank printers that I am aware of. The program is specifically compatible with the Epson Surecolor Series of printers including SureColor P400, P600, P700, P800, P900, P5000, P6000, P7000, P7570, P8000, P9000, and P9570. These are all, what we would consider archival pigment printers for making fine art prints. Eco-Tank series printers are dye-based inkjet printers that are focused on a different part of the inkjet printing market and are designed for general-use printing on plain paper, resin-coated and inexpensive matte papers with an emphasis on economy of ink cost. Your ET-8550 printer is a great printer for its intended purpose but you will not have the same paper choice selections as your would on the Surecolor series. I hope this helps.

    Does Epson Print Layout work with all Epson Printers? The Epson website says it only works with a list of printers. However, I have seen other videos that show people using an ET 8550 with Epson Print Layout??????

    • @ericjoseph3865
      @ericjoseph3865 2 месяца назад

      Epson Print Layout is "officially" compatible only with the printers stated. I have had some people report that it is connecting to Eco Tank printers and some of the older Epson printers as well but EPL might not act reliably or have full functionality. If you can use it and it works, go for it.

      @@ericjoseph3865 Thanks I have learned plenty from your videos, more than from OEM's videos. such as the apple air print issue. That leads me to one last issue what program is worth it if Epson will not do the et 8550, great low cost printer for learning printing....Qimage???

    • @ericjoseph3865
      @ericjoseph3865 Месяц назад

      @@Abundant-Living Epson Eco-Tank printers are not designed for fine art printing but more for home use and simple printing on resin coated or plain papers. My recommendation is if Epson Print Layout works, then use it. I'm sure QimageOne will integrate with it as well but it is a bit of a complicated program to use for most people but it is a very low cost RIP program. My recommendation is to simply use the standard printer driver through the File-Print command.

    Hey Eric have you encountered problems where the pictures totally changes color when it is loaded in Epson Layout Manager? I do my tweaking on photoshop and set it to photoshop manages color and choose a specific icc and then send it to layout manager but the colors are wayyyy diffrent on the layout manager than what it is in photoshop

    • @ericjoseph3865

      Yes, Epson Print Layout has Soft Proofing activated along with what many of us call the "ugly" button which also activates Simulate Paper Color. Personally I would not use Epson EPL as an accurate method of soft proofing. Just use it to print. I have requested that Epson create a separate button to activate Soft Proofing for those who really want to use it. For many it is a valuable feature. For others it is a recipe for disappointment. I hope this helps.

    Any truth that new version 1.5.8 doesn’t work with Epson P800 printer?

    • @ericjoseph3865
      @ericjoseph3865 Год назад +1

      Hello Vincent. I have noticed that customers who have Epson Surecolor P800 printers can only update to Epson Print Layout 1.5.5. I believe I mention this in the video at some point. I have passed this on to Epson and hopefully this will be corrected soon. Version 1.5.8 did contain some, what I would call, critical bug fixes but is still very functional.

    I am printing large Tiff panoramas(>1GB). They won't load in Epson Print Layout. What are the file limits?

    • @ericjoseph3865
      @ericjoseph3865 11 месяцев назад

      Hello @jackhiskey. I haven't tried printing a file greater than 1GB and am unaware of any file limits. There are limits to formatting thought. You might make sure that you are printing a file that is formatted for TIF or JPG and to make sure that has a color space assigned such as Adobe RGB (1998), sRGB or ProPhoto RGB. If none of that works we can set up a Zoom call or I can log on to your computer via TeamViewer and we can take a look.

      @ericjoseph3865 Epson Print Layout won't load 812MB, 41423x5105 TIF panorama. File created by Sony 61 Mpixel camera.

      How is your file formatted? It should be a JPG or TIF file with a color space such as sRGB, Adobe RGB (1998) or Pro Photo RGB.
