I believe this was filmed on February 9, 1990 for ''Sing! Sesame Street Remembers Joe Raposo and His Music''. Multiple other Sesame Street cast and crew memories were also interviewed and shared memories about Joe.
Thank you for this. The great Jim Henson talking about the equally great Joe Raposo. Both are sorely missed.
I’m here because my 11 month old daughter is addicted to the Batty bat song. The entire family is singing this amazing melody. I decided to investigate who the man behind the song was.
The man was brilliant and his talent touched all of us.
RIP Jim, he was such a genius. It’s heartbreaking to think that this was filmed just months before his passing.
If this was from 1990, the thing that sucks was Henson was gone 3 months later. Sad

After 30 years, you are still missed, Jim. Especially with what's currently going on right now. Luckily the Muppets carry on through film and video. Been watching quite a bit of these characters recently. Brings me back to simpler times.

I always enjoy watching the muppet show, Dinosaurs and Sesame Street Jim Henson legacy still lives on sleep peacefully in heaven Mr Joe Raposo he was an amazing music composer and musical director his music still lives on they both have made magic in children culture.

I were to pick one person who I would say had the most influence on my life Jim Henson would be the guy.
Joe was the O(+> of children’s music. Jim was a complete and total genius. Peace.
Well, now that we've got access to this great interview, what about the other interviews on the special? A big handful of other people were interviewed to share their memories of Joe as well. Those folks included Walter Cronkite, Chris Cerf, Joan Ganz Cooney, Liz Smith, and many others. Is it possible to see any of those interviews complete and uncut as well?
I love this, seeing Jim and Jon Stone say that Raposo was a name-dropper! Of course he would be... that's a human thing to do. Jon brings up Tom Whedon, who was the headwriter on the Electric Company. His son Joss of course, is famous for Buffy and directing the Avengers. Also this is the first time I've heard anyone say what "era" Raposo's music is derived from -- 1920s.
Interesting that Jim is talking about Joe who passed on February 5, 1989 (aged 51) of non-Hodgkin lymphoma and Jim died of Toxic shock syndrome on May 16, 1990 (aged 53) only 15 months later. Both were taken far to early and a creative loss to children's entertainment and teaching.

Are you sure this didn't take place in 1989 rather than 1990 since Joe Raposo (according to sources) died in February 5, 1989?
I am pretty sure this was filmed in February of 1990 for the special ''Sing! Sesame Street Remembers Joe Raposo and His Music'' which aired later in May of that year... Though I cannot be TOO sure of anything, this is the info I found.
@@abagelmuppetstuff For some ironic reason, this special aired some time on May 16, 1990, and Jim Henson already passed away earlier that same day. The first time I knew about his passing was when I read the Sesame Street Unpaved book back when I was younger in the 2000s, and I was born 10 years after he passed away, so I never knew about it until I had the Sesame Street Unpaved book. Not only was he the original creator of the Muppets, he provided the original voices of Kermit the Frog, and the Sesame Street character Ernie. And whenever a muppet Ernie was getting emotional, Jim perfectly knew how to express Ernie's character whenever Ernie was sad, by adding a sad Ernie voice, and when Ernie burst into tears crying in some Sesame Street sketches and a few audiobooks like Ernie Gets Lost, and Ernie's Little Lie, Jim knew how to make a perfect crying voice for Ernie, and when Kermit gets angry Jim Henson really used his energy and made Kermit scream at Miss Piggy, just like Frank Oz used his to make Bert scream at Ernie in many sketches.
