    I love Nurgle in all it’s incarnations. Really enjoyed this one. I actually really liked it right after you applied the plaguebearer flesh, and would’ve skipped the green glaze. I liked the more yellow skin tone

    Well that's just gross -- which is the highest praise a Nurgle miniature could receive!
    I especially liked how you applied the Blood for the Blood God and Nurgle's Rot on this one. Small, controlled applications and taking advantage of their naturally glossy finish. Good stuff!

    Just spent 8 hours in my hobby shed. Did a bit of work on a spaceship model and then decided to do some mini painting while paint dried. Ended up spending the rest of the day working on 2 minis. After a few hours I suddenly realised that I had discovered the joys of futzing! I was really enjoying myself! The minis are probably no better than mediocre on the grand scheme of things but even unfinished they are way better than I thought I could achieve with so little experience. Thanks for all the insights and encouragement 😀👍

Great video as always, i think a comparison between different textures from different brands would make a great video, i personally feel a bit lost considering the amount of brands which produces various textures

    Definitely some lovely stuff in here! I'll be referencing this as I return to my Death Guard.
    I'd love to see how you approach a poxwalker; not only are they delightful models, but I'm interested in how you'd approach getting good color into what is otherwise a pale fleshed zombie rather than the radioactive green here (which looks great, to be clear). Mine came out fairly pink, which I've decided I'm okay with since it contrasts the green armor, but I'd be interested to see how you tackle it!

    I tried at least 10 different color schemes for Nurgle demons, but the most eye catching were the bright green + purple ones. So I agree very much with you.
    I painted the pimples and wounds almost the same like you, and the rusty swords in a similar way. I wish you put put this video before so I would have copied you instead of experimenting...but it was a fun experiment 😉

    Thank you for doing this demonstration Vince. I just love the aesthetic of Nurgle miniatures - joyous pestilence. I have returned to the hobby after a six year break and have a couple of Nurgle minis waiting for me to dive in. I like that you've painted the model as an individual - as opposed to looking the same as any other plaguebearer.
    I'm hoping to progress to the point where I can paint display minis and so I really appreciate you taking the time to explain your colour choices and thought processes.
    Side question: Do you thin the contrast paints before applying them? If so, what with?

    @Vince I'm 48 soon and I feel old. Like this only matters because I feel like my time left to play games and hobby is limited so maybe I should stop buying. I've started sundrop speed painting CMON boxes for heck's sake. Conscious of the time we can never get back, that is finite, and how much I may have left. I don't know if this is a question or a video topic, really. I did paint something like 56 board game minis in various monochrome color schemes while watching your show today, though, and I'm quite happy with those. Now I can PLAY those games! Sincerely, Not Depressed I Promise

    • @VinceVenturella
      @VinceVenturella  2 года назад +1

I realized I hadn't done anything for myself since the semester started. So I agree, it's always time well spent even though I didn't break much new ground in my speed paint (I did make some Masmorra minis look like chewing gum to match the game, that's something). Thanks!

    you mention in the video emphasizing radioactivity, if one wanted to incorporate a florescent paint into the scheme, at what point would you do it, would in get mixed sparingly into the ork flesh midtone, or saved for the highlights?

  • @ILikeYous
    @ILikeYous 2 года назад

    I asked you to paint Nurgle to show off painting something new, that you may not be into as much, and the process you go through to figure out a new style a while back. A lot of painters got skills but get stuck in a rut of their comfort style. Space Marines then Chaos Marines then IG then AoS Stormcast and so on.
    I always appreciate painters challenging themselves on videos and the value in trying something new. Good video.

    Are there any comparable paints to the Warcolours spearstaff brown and bilious green, as well as the green stuff dark and orange rusts? I can't seem to find them in stock in the US, and though I love getting international mail, I'm itching to paint my Nurgle army for sigmar. If ordering from Warcolours how many 20ml bottles do you think I should get to do a a Vanguard Maggotkin and a few start collecting Deamons of Nurgle boxes? This is my first go at mini painting in any capacity and I'm pretty excited by your take on it. I like the brightness of the Nurgle box art, but it doesn't seem to glow enough and looks too pastel. All the other takes either seemed too dark or like an army of Slimers. Thanks for sharing the knowledge.

Also, do you use the standard bases that come with your miniatures for painting and have a separate [final] set or do you reuse a bunch simply for painting?

    Hi there Vince! I'm really admiring your brushwork here, and the Plaguebearer came out looking just sick, lovely & awesome!
    However, my leper ears almost fell off when I heard you state that "red is the complementary color to green" around 8:18 (ruclips.net/video/jsTQprFnusA/видео.html)
    Now isn't red actually complementary color to cyan? And green to magenta? As can be seen and witnessed all the time for example on our led screens, favorite hobby magazines on print, and the afterimages appearing in our own thricromat eyes.

      Depends on the color wheel, the reality of it is that it works because when you add red paint to green paint, you get a good combination that feels a natural color.

      @@VinceVenturella Thanks for the answer! Yeah, mixing red & green paint is definitely ok thing to do and sure looks good here. Can you elaborate how you've come to the decision to use such a wheel where the red & green are complementary (and then kind of justify paint choices with that)?
