Ethan Hawke is in this movie called boyhood that was literally filmed over the span of like 12 years. You watch this little boy throughout his entire childhood.
If you wanna see a very similar movie that also takes place in one night and where the usual good guy plays the bad guy, you should watch Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx in Collateral from 2004. One of my favorite movies along with Training Day and very similar :)
Denzel won an Oscar for playing this character, because of the same reason why it surprised you to and everybody back in the day when the movie came out. I was pleasantly surprised myself when I watched this movie.
Great choice!! This was fantastic from day one back in theaters. Denzel patterned his character after Officer Raphael Perez, who was part of the Rampart investigative unit, who were allegedly involved in the murder of The Notorious BIG, among other things. In fact, if you look at license plates on Alonzo’s Monte Carlo (not the Buick Regal, which was related, as were the Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme and Pontiac Gran Prix), the license plate reads “ORP-967”, or “Officer Raphael Perez - 1967”. There are a bunch of behind-the-scenes details that went on with this movie. Great choice, Asia and BJ!! You’ve done it again!!
If I were a trainee in that situation, the red flags would have been being hung up while I was talking, him telling me to shut up in the restaurant, the last straw, him pointing a gun at head.
You just watched one of Denzel’s best performances. Nobody was used to seeing him act like this. When it released one of the classic movie lines was born. “King Kong ain’t got s*** on me!!!” 🤣
Denzel's the GOAT. Also, this was Terry Crews' first movie. He was uncredited, but played the guy in the hood that was clapping with all the pigeons flying around at 21:40.
This movie is AMAZING and one of Denzel’s greatest roles but the best scene in the entire movie has to be Jake with Smiley & company. The build up of the scene, the realization that Alonzo set him up & the karma of Smileys cousin returning the favor and saving Jake’s life. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING PLOTS & CAMERA SHOTS THROUGHOUT THAT ENTIRE SCENE!!
@50:45 Roger wasn't a cop, so he couldn't have been the 5th guy; Alonzo had other rookies under his wing, but those who helped him seemed like experienced cops, so I don't think it was them.

The original was better.
This is how he earned am Oscar! This was Denzel first time playing a dirty character, they wanted to cast him in as a different type of character and he definitely did that thang!
This is one of the favorites!! Another great, old Denzel movie to watch... He Got Game
This is one of my favorite movies. So awesome to watch it with you guys.
I just realized that before Denzel brings Ethan Hawke to the Mexican's house to be killed he calls them and you can hear him say "make sure the tub is clean"
"Damn! There's a lot going on in one day. When do we eat lunch?"
Oh, Asia. ❤
You also have to check out "Flight" with Denzel. Directed by Robert Zemeckis (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump). He plays an airline pilot battling alcoholism.
One of the best movies of the early 00’s. I was 17 when this came out and watched it over 10 times. It has comedy and some intense moments.
Ethan Hawke is in this movie called boyhood that was literally filmed over the span of like 12 years. You watch this little boy throughout his entire childhood.
Another excellent Denzel movie is American Gangster. He got Frank Lucas to a T. IMO Denzel should have received another Oscar for that role.
If you wanna see a very similar movie that also takes place in one night and where the usual good guy plays the bad guy, you should watch Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx in Collateral from 2004. One of my favorite movies along with Training Day and very similar :)
@@NecKClippA do enjoy them they have the same connection
Harsh Times with Christian Bale is another great one 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Collateral would be great for them to react to
Denzel won an Oscar for playing this character, because of the same reason why it surprised you to and everybody back in the day when the movie came out. I was pleasantly surprised myself when I watched this movie.
Asia.... No MO' BETTER BLUES!?... OH no... Y'all gon have to remedy that... Lol...
A Spike Lee Joint ... You won't be disappointed....
One of The Best Movies Ever Made! ✊😏😊👊 Denzel Got An Oscar For This Movie 👌😆👍🍁
6:14 is actually a Monte Carlo
'85 , older brother had the same one minus the hydraulics and daytons😂
"he checked his watch dam he still got 30 mins to go" 😂😂😂 BJ is hilarious fr
Perfect timing! I needed something to watch. I love your reactions so much. Asia and BJ you're the Best !! 🥰❤️💯
Remember The Titans, cmon!! Great movie and he’s a coach.
I’ll add to the narrative.
Denzel completely steals the spotlight in this movie but Ethan Hawke was also FANTASTIC.
The tub scene. He’s SO good in it.
If I were a trainee in that situation, the red flags would have been being hung up while I was talking, him telling me to shut up in the restaurant, the last straw, him pointing a gun at head.
@youngtrainingdaywestphilly203 I don't they were expecting Denzel to be red flag there everywhere
@harvey4512 🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩😂
This is such a good movie. So many great actors.
I find it hard to believe y'all haven't seen this movie 😂 that being said, I envy y'all for seeing it for the first time
This movie is AMAZING and one of Denzel’s greatest roles but the best scene in the entire movie has to be Jake with Smiley & company. The build up of the scene,
the realization that Alonzo set him up & the karma of Smileys cousin returning the favor and saving Jake’s life.
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING PLOTS & CAMERA SHOTS THROUGHOUT THAT ENTIRE SCENE!!
Fun Fact: director said King Kong speech was an adlib. Denzel got done and said "hope you got that cus that's all I got!" AMAZING ✌🏻❤️🙏🏻
@50:45 Roger wasn't a cop, so he couldn't have been the 5th guy; Alonzo had other rookies under his wing, but those who helped him seemed like experienced cops, so I don't think it was them.
Antoine Fuqua Director of the Equalizer Trilogy and the MJ biopic
Reel talk! Exceptional movie! "There's a lot going on in one day. When do we eat lunch?" 😂😂 This should be a tag line for the movie.
This movie is one of the greatest movies ever made. Ethan Hawke is a great actor and Denzel fully deserved the Oscar he won for the role he played here. I once heard Training Day be described as being so epic that it stands in the same light as movies like Titanic or Dances With Wolves. Great reaction. You two are my favorite of the couples reactors out there. Keep em coming. ❤❤❤❤
I love Asia'a reactions in this one. She's like a rabbit in headlights the whole time, like what in the world is happening. Too cute. 😂
And that line from BJ: He's diaboilical, he's surgical. 😎
