This is a new track I made which is for an upcoming release I'm currently making and I wanted to share a Live version of this song.
I'll try to do more of these videos or make music videos when I get time to or when I've finished a track.

If those are original Gameboys you should be careful with them, if you drop them on the floor you may need to get a new one. (new floor that is)
they're pretty tough I've played a bunch of gigs with mine and they've survived a fair few drops and bashes in transport and at gigs

more of the talent part in a lot of ways. he has prosound backlit gameboys. which means he either bought them online or is awesome in every way and made them himself and made such an awesome song with what i would assume to be lsdj. He just connected the gameboys to a turntable so he was basically live mixing two chiptune beats at once. In short, he's awesome.

That is true, it's always nice to know what other people are using in their setups. Ah that sounds like it would be a nice setup, by the way you can't do midi out from LSDJ unless you use Trash80's modified version. I have no idea if he did release it though. If you ever get this setup done, post a video response to this one. I would love to see how it turns out in the end.

That GBC-Teal coloured DMG is beautiful.. I ordered my custom DMG last night but after seeing that, I want it! I might change up my order if possible because I had that coloured GBC for 10 years and it's a good nod at my childhood!
Why thank you! That's cool :D On the Green DMG is the lead, bass, side synth, noise kick and noise snare. The Yellow DMG simply just has has a WAV kick which has the same pattern as the noise kick. So using two types of kick drum sounds was how I got that sound.
I want to learn how to do this one day :D

@@8BrickDMG I might have needed some punctuation. I had an OG Gameboy..and some games. I doubt the original Gameboy is affordable these days. I was 10 when it came out. I'm a..young lad still..*wink*
k so im curious, are the game cubes just for stands or do they serve a bigger purpose? love the tune but then again most any 8 bit makes me get all warm and fuzzy. reminds me of being a kid :3

yeah, I'm no newb to chiptunes, i have seen some gamecube port hubs for pedals and extra gameboys and such but it seems he has his gameboys modded for his mixer anyway.
It looks like they're just stands but i do see some cords i think.

Very cool stuff! Can I ask you if you have had any problems connecting the gameboy to the mixer? Because when I do that all sounds very low, except for the Noise Channel (I use LSDj), that is very loud, or suddenly all come down in volume or up. I don't know what could be the problem, 'cause my connectors and adaptors work well, and also the mixer. I haven't got a Pro Sound modified Gameboy like you but, anyway, when I connect my headphones to it, all sounds good, and then with the mixer or sound card it doesn't work! :( Hope to find a solution and thanks, anyway :)

The beginning reminds me of Gobi's Desert from Banjo-Kazooie- maybe just because of the soundfont?
I know all that and no I don't have the slight-of-hand to be a DJ. I'm just suggesting he try more along this style as it's beautiful and unique and seems to fit him quite well.
As for why I'm comparing to Shirobon and Sabrepulse is because they're both up-there Chiptune artists in the broad genre, I'm not going to bother trying to label them all by the sub-genres.
Fact is they are each good in their own style and I'm saying Brick has something with this one that his old works don't.
i must have discovered this about 8-10 years ago after first encountering chiptune music on my first gamescom. this track has been a constant visitor on my journey so far.
You even made something on LSDJ? I mean, you are not even making a constructive critique, i listened his first works and even if this its WAY better, i like them, he have a few interesting tables in every song, and i dont know why are you comparing him with sabrepulse or shiro when they dont do the same music, even if its chiptune, its like comparing electric children and treyfrey or saskrotch and roboctopus, finally, its his music, if the artist like it, its totally worth it man!
You're really good Brick but for some reason you have the same problem as Shirobon does for me.
I love this one and your version of "until the world ends" but all your other work just...doesn't grab me.
Heck only like around 3 of Shirobon's works but I like most of Sabrepulse's, so what is the difference between you, Shirobon and Sabrepulse?

Yeah, it always annoys me when people put up videos of really nerdy stuff and don't write anything about it... If there will only be nerds watching it, of course they'll want to know how things work. No offence to you though, hehe. I might look into using Nanoloops instead for MIDI stuff, haven't decided yet. I'll try to remember to respond to this one when/if I get a video up. I just started looking into making some Gameboy music. It appears to be a lot harder than i initially thought. I have to order a cart and get LSDJ software and such. I am inspired by all kinds of music and I really want to take a crack at this. Any suggestions for a noob trying to enter this awesome niche of music?
Cool track, I don't see the point of using gameboys as midi controllers, besides it looking cool they aren't very useful. Try a joystick next time

what dragon said. The gameboys are most likely running lsdj, a software that controls the gameboy's oscillators and stuff. Generated sound.

I just realized with some shock that the two gameboys you're using are on top of gamecubes, are you using the gamecubes in the song somehow or are they just decorative platforms for your gameboys?

The gameboys aren't anything special. His are customized for a backlight and different type of audio-out, but the program he's running (called LSDJ) will run on any gameboy.
Very enjoyable! A list of the equipment and how it's set up would be nice. Are you just syncing the Game Boys or is there any additional MIDI involved (LSDJ-MC or similar)?

I can see that now that I think about it.
Sabrepulse is fast, flowing even with abrupt drops and breaks.
Shirobon is consistent and rapid and reminds me a lot of actual gameboy music soundtracks.
You Brick are...definitely in development compared to them: not to be mean but I listened to your older stuff...*hiss* yeah...hurt my ears. However especially for Focused here: you're on to something.
This track is melodic and droning in a captivating way I can't really grasp: try more like this.
