I am a content creator. I can either use a compressor or a noise cancelling. for the same affect. Actually, I prefer noise cancelling over a compressor. If this was in her home and not an isolated studio booth, there would be good reason to block out noise from her mom's kitchen or fans, etc. There is the option that the person (fan) who copied the video added his own nuance to suit him and had nothing to do with her.

@@ArabManReacts I say that because, I went and researched the video that was done/made by the fan. They state on the intro that "they" audio enhanced the video. So, the sound was definitely bastardized by the fan and not by our Angel Angelina.

Dear Dr. Foreman, you are correct for many reasons, but I remembered another reason, why they might have "filtered out" noise. Her little sister Juliette at age 6. Kids. at this age might be loud sometimes, especially whem mom forbidds them to be loud as sister Jordan (angelina was caled jordan at home) was experimenting with songs at a Saturday.

This rendition is really something special. She's the only artist who translated the song in the way is was intended to be: melancholic, carrying some madness and despair.

The story goes that she's at home and said she was going to do some work on this song, and went to her music corner in the living room, which is why its compressed to keep out the sounds of the rest of the house... Neuman mics are very sensitive... she produced this song { grandma took the vid } then, when she had finished, she went outside to play on the Swings with her little Sister Juliette... I guess that's what a genius does..... And me.. I just sit here with my mind in bits. lol..... 12yo !!

Notice how the piano or keyboards are played with the same hesitancy as her singing. Almost like she is unsure of her playing. Clearly an artistic choice. She is such a sweet demure young lady...until she performs. Then it is a mature artist connecting the song to us. Scintillating.

Silence is so powerful in storytelling, and Angelina is the best I have seen at incorporating silence into her music. Many times she just chills at the mic, smiling and waiting for the right time to deliver the next phrase. She knows what she is doing.

👣Angelina released this short video we see of herself playing the piano on insta. Grandma then released the audio of the full song on YT allong with a lot of great still-fotos of young Angelina. Some of us had a really hard time 😮😵💫 trying to absorb both, - those wonderful pictures - AND the incredible voice of Angelina and her take on the song.
I did say before, that this song must have been written for Angelina to sing, we just didn`t now until she released her version of it back in 2019 👣 🤗
This is definitely in my top 10 favorites of all of Angelina's works! I absolutely love it!❤

Haunting & mesmerizing are the words that come to mind when I listen to this. She said she just wanted to see what she could do with this song, so 12 yo Angelina sat down at her keyboard with her Neuman mic & began to play/sing, while Grandma Mery hit "record!" Another Masterpiece, Imo.
This performance is a classic example of Angelina's ability at this age. Lifting the emotion out of lyrics, often slowing them down so she can wring the last drop out. Way off the charts.

This cover is a great example of why I'm an Angelina fan. She has one of the greatest voices on the planet and a technical toolkit as big as my auto mechanic's, but there are other singers with the same advantages. What sets Angelina apart is the way she hears and imagines and understands a song. It's her artistry. Great reaction, Boudy! I love the production notes, by the way.
Thanks for such a great reaction. To me this cover is one of her absolute best. After hearing this the first time I went and found a Chris Issak music video to watch. I feel that Angelina's version, sitting quietly at home, playing the piano, brings total clarity and emotion to the lyrics in a way I didn't feel while watching the Issak version. Angelina's slow cadence and emotional delivery of the lyrics is extraordinary and conveys the true meaning of the song as only she can.

This version of Angelina takes your soul and makes you look inside yourself, her slow, smoky, sweet, intimate tones kidnap you and make you lose the sense of time. Her voice is so emotional it leaves you like a log on the beach after a storm, but it's also so sweet! For me the best version I've heard of this song, she completely captures the pain of the lyrics, more much that original version. Even though she is little more than a child, she has the ability to read songs in an incredible way, everything about her that always amazes you, every time she manages to find a new reading key, that no one has had before her. My soul absolutely loves her. 💛🧡❤

The first time I heard this I thought she captured the emotions of the song perfectly. On the 2nd, she made me feel every note deep inside me. I’ve heard it many times now, it’s unbelievable what she does and the effect it has on me. Her tone and little rasp at the beginning of words, her “with you” …. Talent is not the right word anymore. She’s totally out of any scale or measure. AJ is exceptional in so many ways ❤

I remember hating this song when it came out, after I heard it 10 times a day, everyday, on every radio station, and music television station, forever, it seemed like. I was 16 or 17 maybe. It is a hauntingly beautiful song, and I actually Love it. Esp when AJ sings it. And I for one really appreciate the explanations about compressors and reverbs, etc...I don't understand all of that stuff, but I want to. Thank you for the crash course
First time I heard this song by her, I initially thought I'm not too sure about her doing this, but she sent chills right up my spine and changed my mind! Man, so simple and yet so haunting....Crazy good! Wow!

Her fragility is more tender, less with that twang Chris uses to such great effect. Angelina's is a more serious version, I think. More heart-wrenchng. Boudy, You clearly have the technical acumen to describe how the technology affects the performance. However, what attracts me to your reactions is the fact that you have the same profound emotional reaction to every little nuance emanating from Angelina’s vocal chords that I and countless other angels do. IMO, The only way to listen to Angelina is with your heart.

Angelina's interpretation of this great song is amazing. Her performance is equal to the original. Actually knowing this is from a young girl who's probably never felt this emotion before makes it better than the original. Angelina is beyond amazing, she's savant.

Holiday. She brings such emotion laden penetration to the listener that it could
only be described as totally mesmerizing.

Hi, Boudy. Thank you for another excellent reaction to Angelina. This performance of the song went straight to the top of my playlist when it was uploaded by Angelina's grandmother, Mery Zamanion her RUclips channel Angelina Jordan Fanclub Mosarz and has never left the Top 10.. The videos - two of them - included changing images of Angelina, which I found very distracting. Fortunately, Sune Amtoft, an Angelina fan and very talented graphics artist, created the video you have just watched. It captures the emotions of the lyrics very well, and I like the symbolism of the strong heart drawn in the sand, which the water obliterates at the end.
Albert it was the creative artistry of Sune production and the depth of Ms. Jordan's musicality that so profoundly affected my emotional inner life. Art in its highest form. Rb

I had the great pleasure of seeing Chris Issak perform this in concert in Indianapolis in the summer of 2022. Truly a classic, and Angelina's interpretation is wonderful. Also, thank you for the info on compression. I've heard a lot of reactors use the term, but never really understood what it meant. Always nice to learn something new.

Compression makes quite notes louder and loud notes quiter...What your hearing is a noise gate.
Angelina Jordan has released her new 5 song Christmas EP of covers named ‘Driving Home For Christmas’ after the title track. Some fans believe the other tracks are from her 2021 streamed Christmas concert.
It sounds to me like the reverb effect was simply set to be more noticeable for the louder parts than the softer, as opposed to being applied uniformly at all volumes, and that's why it's not noticeable at the end of the lines. This is similar to how her live "Summertime" vocal was treated on _Norske Talenter_ [Norway's Got Talent]: the louder parts, particularly when she sang an "ah" vowel sound ("And your MA is good-lookin'"), had significantly more reverb on them than the rest of her vocal.

The original video was from her Grandmother (ruclips.net/video/lnCbca9ZUB8/видео.html) and opened with that little bit of footage of her at the piano. You can tell at the start that this was originally posted on Instagram 8/11/2018, so you may be able to find the whole thing there. The rest of it was a montage of photos of Angelina at all different ages; it was actually quite distracting. This is a fan made video that does a much better job (IMHO) of letting the viewer focus on the singing. This is in my top 3 all-time of her songs that have been posted (my count is now up to 214)..
