The first time I heard this song was when Angelina posted it, so I had never heard Adele's version. I was just blown away. At 15 she has more vocal tools and nuances than the large majority of seasoned singers. And her tone is so rich, warm, and dark. There is no one else like her. I still rate this in my Top 10 of Angelina's performances. STUNNING!!!
I agree 100%. Like you, I had not heard this song until Angelina posted it. I was wiping tears from my eyes before the song was finished. After several times listening to it, I decided I needed to listen to the original. I had heard of Adele but had never heard her sing that I was aware of. (I'm old) I don't think I made it half way through before I turned it off. It just seemed "bland". The emotion and feelings that were stirred in me when Angelina sang it, just weren't there. I think Adele has a nice voice, but for me, Angelina owns this song, along with "Easy On Me". If Adele is going to retire, as I've heard some say, maybe she would help write some songs with Angelina?
Same with me ! I had actually just quit listening to secular music when I found 'baby' Angelina 😊. When I finally did hear Adele later, I thought Angelina was much better. Adele is for sure, talented......but Angelina just brings something extra to EVERY thing she touches.
Angelina is a real artist with a voice full of emotion. She is not comparable with other singers, she is unique in the world. I love the way she sings, it’s always a good surprise. A day without listening to Angelina is a wasted day.
Seems like most vocalists have one sound and one dynamic, supplemented with a trick or two. I feel like that was Angelina at age 9. By 10 her knowledge and dexterity really leaped forward. But, she always had a type of wisdom for using what she had learned.

From what I understand, and I might be wrong, this is literally Angelina's studio that Rob Christie and Republic Records designed and built specifically for her soon after Michael Astar, her uncle/manager, signed the recording contract with RR when Angelina was 14 years old. They obviously recognized her abilities and potential, too! 💕
After I listen to this performance, I often think that this must be her best one. The same goes for 50 other performances though, so I dont know 😂 But yea, like you said, this is perfection 💖

I remember the summer of Adele, I played all her songs night and Day couldn't get enough of her music! I was listening to RUclips and "All I Ask" came on with a cover by Angelina Jordan? I couldn't believe, that any singer would take an Adele song and make it their own! I fell into Angelina's "Rabbit Hole" following her career from 7 to 18, enjoying covers and now her new EP "Old Enough!"

Great comment Steve, I absolutely agree. I think so much of Angelina’s over-the-top singing skills are intuitive. She definitely was born with them, honed by hours of practice and hard work.
Yes in addition to that crazy run I’ve always loved the rasp on “eyes.” And the belting in the second half, it’s like she’s going to burst into tears at any moment. And then there’s “neveeeer, love again,” instead of “never looove, again” like Adele does it. Instinctive musical genius.
Someone added Adeles voice on top of this and the colour of their voices are quite similar, but where Adele hits every note in the middle with full power, almost like a trumpet, Angelinas voice and interpretation is much more "pliable" and pleasing (for me). If Adele is a trumpet then Angelina is a violin.. ;-)
I "REALLY" hope Republic Records offers her music on vinyl album. I'm old school, I don't stream or download, and CD's are ok, but vinyl is my favorite. I have over 600 of my favorites, and I really want her albums to be the centerpieces of my collection.

I hadn’t either, so I listened to Adele. Without meaning to demean her remarkable talent in any way, she sang it with far less nuance and texture than AJ - still a great song but AJ makes it extraordinary imo.
We use the same term, dynamic range, in photography. You want the maximum dynamic range possible. Cameras with small sensors such as cellphones will tend to wash out the sky, have inky black shadows, while big full frame sensor cameras have much more dynamic range where you can see the details in the clouds in the sky and what’s hiding in the shadow areas. Angelina is the musical equivalent of the biggest of full frame sensors, with breathy whispers, belts, complex runs, rasp, vibrato, smooth rich tones, etc., all in the right places for the song. And this song is a classic demonstration of that! Whereas the singers covering Adele that you described are like the cellphone camera, almost yelling to get those details in the clouds, at the cost of losing all the delicate stuff in the shadows..
Rob Christie is on piano at his studio. He is the Director of Republic records in LA. Angelina, with one instrument is the best combination. Singing an Adele song adds another factor in the attainment of perfection. I think she was just 15 here - you will see other videos in this format .
Angelina has actually done a number of videos in this particular studio at Republic Records....Heal The World, Million Miles, 7th Heaven, Easy On Me, and this song. This is one of my all time favorites of hers. She's a natural storyteller who happens to sing. Her intuitiveness on where she goes soft and where to go strong is a beauty to hear and watch. As with Angelina, you never disappoint. :-) Angelina is a true musical genius in that she innately knows how a song must be sung to reveal all the emotions of the lyrics. This is very obvious to me in that she changed the emphasis of the phrase "It matters how this ends, 'Cause what if I never love again?' To "It matters how this ends, 'Cause what if I NEVER love again?". That emphasis and elongation of the word never is, in my opinion, clear evidence that she totally understands what the lyrics are meant to convey emotionally. It is one of the many reasons I've been in awe of her since 2014.
The song I can think of she sang in this studio with just a piano was easy on me another Adele song. Edit : ah yes heal the world I thought that one had other instruments though not just the piano but well I tend to focus so much on Angelina's voice that I barely remember the music on the background most of the time :p

I have been a fan of her since she first appeared in Norwegian GOT talent. I hadn't sent the video to my friend, who was a jazz listener, and he had been almost rude for suggesting a 7-8 years old as a jazz singer. Now here she is, she can make any song as of her own
Boudy thanks so much for popping up on my screen thismorning with this song. I dissided not to go to work thismorning, because I had a migraine. Then AJ sang my favourite part of this song. Which put a chill right up my spine right to the top of my head. Migraine now almost gone. Then you stopped it. Then played that part again. Of course I consintrated on that part of the song more. Then lot stronger tingling feelings and chills. With goosebumps this time. I don't get the goosebumps very often. It is 26c inside my home at the moment. Now the Migraine completely gone.
Because Angelina is a true jazz specialist and Adele is a non-jazz/pop singer, there is no way Adele can match the emotion laden penetration Angelina brings to heartfelt ballads like this. Vocal expert analyzer Andreas Grussl did a comparison video called 'Is This Better Than Adele?', where he compares both singers performing a similar song to this, that being 'Easy On Me'. He shows how Angelina's rendition is much 'warmer' and especially with regard to the 'breathy', 'whisper-like' releases she learned from Billie Holiday, they truly separate the penetration level between the two artist's in both songs.
Great reaction/analysis Boudy. Not to long ago it was revealed that Republic Records had built a studio specifically for Angelina Jordan. I can’t be certain, but it’s quite possible that Angelina may have had this studio at her disposal since signing with RR a few years ago. The studio space is recognizable in so many of her covers and original song videos. The space is somewhat of a chameleon… its arrangement and lighting are altered to fit the mood depending on what Angelina is performing. This studio is even apparent in many of her TikTok videos. For example, Angelina sitting on the edge of the stage singing to Michael Jackson’s drummer Jonathan Moffett… that seems to be the same studio with the stage lights turned off and the normal workaday lighting illuminating her. Yes, Angelina always seems to be in the same recording studio. It’s separate from the UMG/RR building in Santa Monica. Rob provided some quotes for an article about installing a new mixing board. Appears that other artists record there also.

Peter, I'm not sure, but I think this is Rob Christie's home studio. He made a comment, when he hosted her Christmas Concert on Dec 23, 2021, something like 'with budget cuts we couldn't afford the RR Studios so we moved it to "The North Pole," I believe he called it. Not sure about this, so help me out "Angels" if you know anything about it. Now she has her own studio to work & play in.

Likely covering Adele`s version. This one blow my mind and gives me such joy every singel time I listen, I can`t help smiling the rest of that day. Hi Boudy, When you (and everyone) were doing Christmas, I suggest AJ’s rendition of ‘Driving Home for Christmas’. This one has something that her new EP and single don’t have. While I like them, some took more than one listening to in order to fully appreciate. But ‘Driving Home for Christmas’ was instant Angelina magic. 7:45 I loved it from the first. I’m not sure why, I have ideas, only. I was hoping you notice details that I miss and could enlighten me. 😊 PS I thing it is because it is simpler and more just her voice. ??

However, Angelina uncovers another song with her magical touch, it just sounds better with her vocals and she is just sitting there and nails it, the difficulty in singing while sitting should not be glossed over! The best story teller I have seen in a long time She keeps getting better and better. That lady’s and gentlemen is pure class! Rob Christie is a Grammy winning producer and the director of studio operations at Republic Records, Angelina’s record label. He has accompanied her on piano since her signing with Republic Records.

So happy you did a reaction to this performance by Angelina! I was going to suggest it because IMO it's one of her best. About Adele, no one can deny how great and powerful her voice is and in fact, she had to ease that power because she was having physical problems. She's a great songwriter too, although this song was written as a collaboration with Bruno Mars and some others. BUT... without ignoring everything I've said, she should take some tips from Angelina, sorry. If you compare the Adele songs Angelina has covered, you'll notice there's a lot more dinamics in her that in Adele, more emotion, more subtlety which is just unbelievable given the age difference. At least that's my opinion as a listener 🙂

I think there's a fair chance that she was still 14 in the recording 🙂 The only reason for me to say that is just to punctuate her incredible talent EVEN further. To do what Angelina is doing here at that age is practically unheard of tbh. The same goes for most of her Adele covers, "Easy On Me" is another dynamic range BANGER. Heck, the same goes for mostly ANY of her performances, regardless of her age or which genre it is. Actually, this song was written by Adele, Bruno Mars, Philip Lawrence and Christopher Brody Brown. And while Adele's version was the most popular, Bruno also released his version. For me, Adele is the best pop/soul songwriter of the 21st century. And I don't think it's okay to say that Angelina sings Adele's songs better than Adele. But it is okay to say that you prefer Angelina's version(s), which I do. I think mostly because I prefer Angelinas' tone, for lack of a better term. Adele is the total package---singer, songwriter, producer, etc. But I believe Angelina has those same qualities, and that she will reach great heights in her career. @@SIREN27

In this masterpiece, I also love her use of breathiness to help convey the emotion of the lyrics, that gorgeous run about 2/3 of the way in, and her beautiful raspiness on "eyes". Incredible.
Great comment Steve, I absolutely agree. I think so much of Angelina’s over-the-top singing skills are intuitive. She definitely was born with them, honed by hours of practice and hard work.
Yes in addition to that crazy run I’ve always loved the rasp on “eyes.” And the belting in the second half, it’s like she’s going to burst into tears at any moment. And then there’s “neveeeer, love again,” instead of “never looove, again” like Adele does it. Instinctive musical genius.

Someone added Adeles voice on top of this and the colour of their voices are quite similar, but where Adele hits every note in the middle with full power, almost like a trumpet, Angelinas voice and interpretation is much more "pliable" and pleasing (for me). If Adele is a trumpet then Angelina is a violin.. ;-)
Angelina singing and Rob on the piano, that's all it needs. I could listen to a full album with them two all day.
I "REALLY" hope Republic Records offers her music on vinyl album. I'm old school, I don't stream or download, and CD's are ok, but vinyl is my favorite. I have over 600 of my favorites, and I really want her albums to be the centerpieces of my collection.
All she needs is a guitar or piano as accompaniment without all the bells and whistles and the magic is gone

I hadn’t either, so I listened to Adele. Without meaning to demean her remarkable talent in any way, she sang it with far less nuance and texture than AJ - still a great song but AJ makes it extraordinary imo.
We use the same term, dynamic range, in photography. You want the maximum dynamic range possible. Cameras with small sensors such as cellphones will tend to wash out the sky, have inky black shadows, while big full frame sensor cameras have much more dynamic range where you can see the details in the clouds in the sky and what’s hiding in the shadow areas. Angelina is the musical equivalent of the biggest of full frame sensors, with breathy whispers, belts, complex runs, rasp, vibrato, smooth rich tones, etc., all in the right places for the song. And this song is a classic demonstration of that! Whereas the singers covering Adele that you described are like the cellphone camera, almost yelling to get those details in the clouds, at the cost of losing all the delicate stuff in the shadows..

Angelina, with one instrument is the best combination. Singing an Adele song adds another factor in the attainment of perfection. I think she was just 15 here - you will see other videos in this format .

Angelina has actually done a number of videos in this particular studio at Republic Records....Heal The World, Million Miles, 7th Heaven, Easy On Me, and this song. This is one of my all time favorites of hers. She's a natural storyteller who happens to sing. Her intuitiveness on where she goes soft and where to go strong is a beauty to hear and watch. It's like riding a wave of emotions when you hear Angelina sing. Great reaction as always Boudy!

Angelina is a true musical genius in that she innately knows how a song must be sung to reveal all the emotions of the lyrics. This is very obvious to me in that she changed the emphasis of the phrase "It matters how this ends, 'Cause what if I never love again?' To "It matters how this ends, 'Cause what if I NEVER love again?". That emphasis and elongation of the word never is, in my opinion, clear evidence that she totally understands what the lyrics are meant to convey emotionally. It is one of the many reasons I've been in awe of her since 2014.
And when she says.. what lovers do".. gets me every time!

The song I can think of she sang in this studio with just a piano was easy on me another Adele song. Edit : ah yes heal the world I thought that one had other instruments though not just the piano but well I tend to focus so much on Angelina's voice that I barely remember the music on the background most of the time :p

I have been a fan of her since she first appeared in Norwegian GOT talent. I hadn't sent the video to my friend, who was a jazz listener, and he had been almost rude for suggesting a 7-8 years old as a jazz singer. Now here she is, she can make any song as of her own

Then AJ sang my favourite part of this song. Which put a chill right up my spine right to the top of my head. Migraine now almost gone.
Then you stopped it. Then played that part again.
Of course I consintrated on that part of the song more.
Then lot stronger tingling feelings and chills. With goosebumps this time. I don't get the goosebumps very often. It is 26c inside my home at the moment. Now the Migraine completely gone.
Because Angelina is a true jazz specialist and Adele is a non-jazz/pop singer,
there is no way Adele can match the emotion laden penetration Angelina

Not to long ago it was revealed that Republic Records had built a studio specifically for Angelina Jordan. I can’t be certain, but it’s quite possible that Angelina may have had this studio at her disposal since signing with RR a few years ago. The studio space is recognizable in so many of her covers and original song videos. The space is somewhat of a chameleon… its arrangement and lighting are altered to fit the mood depending on what Angelina is performing. This studio is even apparent in many of her TikTok videos. For example, Angelina sitting on the edge of the stage singing to Michael Jackson’s drummer Jonathan Moffett… that seems to be the same studio with the stage lights turned off and the normal workaday lighting illuminating her.

Yes, Angelina always seems to be in the same recording studio. It’s separate from the UMG/RR building in Santa Monica. Rob provided some quotes for an article about installing a new mixing board. Appears that other artists record there also.

Peter, I'm not sure, but I think this is Rob Christie's home studio. He made a comment, when he hosted her Christmas Concert on Dec 23, 2021, something like 'with budget cuts we couldn't afford the RR Studios so we moved it to "The North Pole," I believe he called it. Not sure about this, so help me out "Angels" if you know anything about it. Now she has her own studio to work & play in.

👣Angelina is, as I see it, in compleet control as it comes to covering Adele. No exeption for this one, as you said. In fact Angelina led me to Adele`s music (belive it or not) and she started early. Her pre-NGT sessions in recording studio allready brought us a few Adele songs covers. More or less full songs, that is. I do wish strongly to see you react to Angelina`s almost extatic joy 😮😄 as she got her chance to do her take on "Rolling In The Deep". Likely covering Adele`s version. This one blow my mind and gives me such joy every singel time I listen, I can`t help smiling the rest of that day. Even though Angelina might have heard even Aretha Franklin`s original, surely Angelina had Adele`s version in mind for her version. BTW - You might even find early versions of Adele songs from our young "not yet barefoot" prinsess singing "Skyfall" and "Someone Like You" 👣 🤗

Hi Boudy, When you (and everyone) were doing Christmas, I suggest AJ’s rendition of ‘Driving Home for Christmas’. This one has something that her new EP and single don’t have. While I like them, some took more than one listening to in order to fully appreciate. But ‘Driving Home for Christmas’ was instant Angelina magic. 7:45 I loved it from the first. I’m not sure why, I have ideas, only.

So happy you did a reaction to this performance by Angelina! I was going to suggest it because IMO it's one of her best.
About Adele, no one can deny how great and powerful her voice is and in fact, she had to ease that power because she was having physical problems. She's a great songwriter too, although this song was written as a collaboration with Bruno Mars and some others.
BUT... without ignoring everything I've said, she should take some tips from Angelina, sorry. If you compare the Adele songs Angelina has covered, you'll notice there's a lot more dinamics in her that in Adele, more emotion, more subtlety which is just unbelievable given the age difference.
At least that's my opinion as a listener 🙂

GREAT reaction, Boudy. Angelina was barely 15 here. I think there's a fair chance that she was still 14 in the recording 🙂 The only reason for me to say that is just to punctuate her incredible talent EVEN further. To do what Angelina is doing here at that age is practically unheard of tbh. The same goes for most of her Adele covers, "Easy On Me" is another dynamic range BANGER. Heck, the same goes for mostly ANY of her performances, regardless of her age or which genre it is. Old news to both of us as well as the rest of her fans, but it just has to be said every now and again. Thanks again for all your great reactions and your dedication toward Angelina! Adele wrote this song and sang it the way it's supposed to be sung. Angelina didn't sing it better than Adele cause no one can! Yes it's ok but trying to say it's better than the best is just not correct. If it was her song it'd be different.
Actually, this song was written by Adele, Bruno Mars, Philip Lawrence and Christopher Brody Brown. And while Adele's version was the most popular, Bruno also released his version. For me, Adele is the best pop/soul songwriter of the 21st century. And I don't think it's okay to say that Angelina sings Adele's songs better than Adele. But it is okay to say that you prefer Angelina's version(s), which I do. I think mostly because I prefer Angelinas' tone, for lack of a better term. Adele is the total package---singer, songwriter, producer, etc. But I believe Angelina has those same qualities, and that she will reach great heights in her career. @@SIREN27
