Diane thank you for sharing this motherly love with so many people who never had a mom in the kitchen. It’s a precious form of family love. ❤️🔥😊🙌 Your very dear and I see that Jesus shines through you every single day! ✝️💯🎯
Merry Christmas. As a little boy my Nana on Christmas ,after we had said Grace , would add,” oh , little babe of Bethlehem take birth within our hearts.” May He continue to shine in your heart and all those you love. Thank you for the wonderful recipes. God bless!
This brought up a memory last thought of 60 years ago of my mama pouring her fudge onto a platter. What a strange feeling as I sit here getting weepy! She died when I was 18 but I also remember her putting the pot out in the snow for a few minutes to cool it down. Precious memories.
Your video today brought back memories to this old lady! As a teenager, I made some fudge. It would not set up!!! I got 2 big spoonfuls & mom drove me across town to friend’s house, car window down while I held the 2 drippy spoons out the window . Needless to say, friend & I have laughed many times about my gift of fudge over the past 60+ years! But….hey!!! I let her keep the spoons! (Of course they were mom’s spoons). She still has those 2 spoons; she will be 80 on New Year’s Day. What fun memories!! Thank you for your video today! Have your cookbook & will be trying the recipe before Christmas! If needed, my family can all get a spoon & dig in!
Mmmmm fudge! I make similar but I blend the cocoa with the dry sugar first as it makes is so much easier to blend when you add the wet ingredients. I also sift the cocoa to avoid those pesky little lumps. Merry Christmas!
Thank You MeMe for the recipes, words of encouragement and joy you have helped spread throughout the year through your videos. May God continue to bless you abundantly, and I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas!!!
It may not be your mama's, but it is your kids' mama's recipe! I love how you poured it on the platter--that is so old fashioned, just like granny used to do. What a wonderful gift!
I always mix my cocoa with my sugar. That’s how my momma taught me to do it. But she used 3 c of sugar, 2/3 c cocoa and one cup of milk. Stir constantly until it comes to a full rolling and boil until the softball stage about 18 minutes, remove from heat, stir in 1/2 stick butter and 1 tsp vanilla. Pour into a buttered 8x8 pan. It’s not soft and mushy, it’s very firm and delicious. This recipe looks really good. God bless you and Merry Christmas 🎄
Thank you for this. I have my mother's recipe, just not sure if it this or close. My mother's fudge was the firm, darker-looking than most. I recall it almost having a "grit/grainy" texture... more "structure". Am I wrong? Trust me, I eat both.... mushy and firm, but I long for and love the firmer version more.
Happy holidays MeMe a lady of my own heart I made five batches of this this year and gave it out to friends and neighbors and I hope your holidays are grand
WOW! I just stumbled on your site today, & I must say, "You are just the Best!" I told my daughter pick up some whole milk & we'll give this recipe a whirl. Everything looks so beautiful for Christmas! I really liked that you used the gorgeous platter, as I have so many fancy platters, soup urns, and crystal & never quite know how to use other than the bowls. Merry Christmas to you & your Family, & may God bless you all!
I grew up with my mother making this, divinity and haystacks. I miss those times immensely. My mother is still alive, but not able to make these holiday candies. I dearly love all these "old ladies" that cook by feel, gumption, this, that and "that looks about right", their methods and techniques are not the highly polished, highly technical, spreadsheet-driven hoopla so many younger people demand they stick to today. Merry Christmas to Meme and Family!
Just love watching you! Such an inspiration! Makes me so happy! Gonna make that fudge today too - I sure hope you and your family have a blessed Christmas and thank you so much for all the wonderful recipes and for never failing to make me smile and laugh right along with you and Kk! Merry Christmas!
Hi MeMe. I am trying this fudge. No candy thermometer needed. I did not know how to do a soft ball test. Your instructions looked easy and I love fudge. I love your collectibles. Wonderful to enjoy and a real treasure. Hugs. 😊❤
I make almost the same recipe, but I don't add any syrup and add 1/2 cup of peanut butter at the end. It's delicious and my whole family loves it. Merry Christmas MeMe.... from a MeMa.
I'm a chocoholic, so this fudge recipe is right up my alley! Wish I had a piece of it right now this very minute. God bless you with a wonderful Christmas, MeMe.
Merry Christmas MeMe and Happy Birthday to our baby Jesus ! I am a chocolate lover and this just hits the spot. I love your choir and Christmas decorations. Thank you for sharing with all of us who love and adore you.
You sure nailed this one, what can be better than fudge, NOTHING! I don’t have a single person in my family that doesn’t love fudge. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas with your lovely family. God bless you. ❤
Thank you so much for sharing your recipes! I'll be making your Bean Bake recipe for the first time today to bring to a potluck/bingo game tomorrow night. I'll be making this fudge recipe this weekend to give as gifts for Christmas. Thank you and Merry Christmas everyone!
I want to wish you Miss Meme and your beautiful family a very Merry Christmas & Happy New Year I love your cooking videos God Bless all of you from Mark in Mentor Ohio ❤❤
One of the things we miss most about my mother having passed on to heaven is her fudge at Christmas! It was always so good! I might have to make a batch of this! Looks so good! Merry Christmas, MeMe! 🎄❤️
Ty for sharing and wishing A Merry Christmas to you and your's love fudge first time I saw a mixer used ty instead of hand beating going to make. some. soon God Bless you and your's 🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️🙏❤️🙏
I have made this old-fashioned recipe, taken out of my Betty Crocker cookbook from many years ago. It is delicious. Thanks so much for reminding me. This recipe produces a beautiful batch of fudge. Ma Ma's fudge or MeMe's fudge, it doesn't make much difference..it's just plain good fudge. Wow! All those carollers, including one of yourself! MeMe, you think of everything..😂
I tried this recipe and it turned out great. It wasn’t cooled down all the way after adding the butter, but I just used the blender to finish the job and get it to room temp. Its a bit tricky to know when to poor, but my guess worked out fine. Thanks for sharing this recipe.
I’m so excited to see this! You were calling ME because I love chocolate ❤ I wish I could be one of your taste testers. Thanks so much for sharing this video.😊
Ooo yummy Meme❤ that looks scrumptious 😋 and I love that Christmasy 🎄 platter. Everything taste better with butter❤ So true!!! Merry Christmas 🎄2024 to You and Yours❤ #shineforJesus
Hello there Meme. It is always a pleasure seeing you and watching your awesome videos 📸. This recipe looks so delicious 😋 and yummy. Thank you so very much for everything you do. May the good Lord always bless you and keep you safe and healthy where ever you go
I love this fudge! My mom would make it as a treat. This is the only fudge I like. Thank you though for the ideas on making it. Yum, it’s been too long.
Mimi, my Momma used to make the best fudge and I think her recipe was just like yours. I can remember her and I tasting the soft ball stage to make sure it was good. It was the most decadent fudge ever. I think I’ll make some this year!! Thanks for your video!
So helpful as I still struggle with the softball test. 😢 But this method is preferable in my area, because our altitude is 5000 feet and temps are lower at these elevations. 😅
My home is 3000 feet in elevation, so my temperatures are lower too. I think the general rule is to reduce about 2F per thousand feet. I think soft ball is 237, so about 230 works for me. 225-227 on a candy thermometer would probably come close in your area. Elevation does make a difference. Humidity does too. I find that fudge is more successful on less humid days.
When I was a teenager, I was always making fudge. I used the old Hershey's recipe that was on the back of the Hershey's cocoa container. It called for 2/3 cup of cocoa, 3 cups of sugar, 1 1/2 c. milk and no Karo. I want to try your recipe because it's less cocoa. You made it look so easy. Can't wait to make it!
Everything about this was interesting! I didn’t know fudge making didn’t require chocolate solids! And, I’ve never seen those carolers before and naming them after people is a first for me.
Thank you for sharing your recipes. I remember only one girl that wouldn’t tell me how she made her fudge. She said it was her grandmothers recipe and it was so good and creamy. Have you ever had a person not share a recipe with you?
Hi MeMe, watching from Maryland. This looks so delicious and easy to make. Do you know if you can substitute a sugar-free replacement for the sugar? Hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas! ❤️🌲

Yes, they are.👍🏻🙂❤️🙏🏻
I’m a chocolate lover and I hate nuts. Perfect recipe for me. Thank you!
I grew up with this recipe and we got it off the side of the Hershey's cocoa, best fudge ever in my opinion.
@@janicew6222 was the corn sryup part of that recipe?
@@mammasita3511 Yes, it was.
This was 70 years ago, when the Hershey's can was metal and you pried a little metal top out of the middle.

It’s the boiling stage that probably killed it. Getting candy to a certain temp is critical.
Funny, sweet memory. Thanks for sharing it.
