    I play and work with poi for more then 8 years already and I enjoy it. I try to do my job professionally. But this video is something that flashes back my memory to the starting point - to the point where love for poi was born inside me. This is incredible feeling. Thank You Nick. You are amazing artist and man =)

    it really is the most enjoyable art form i have found in almost 2 decades of being an artist. between flags, staffs, fans, poi, and variations of all of them there is something for everyone to love.

  • @TechnicFlow
    @TechnicFlow 5 лет назад +1

    Nick is like the only flow artist I know of who's been spinning this long that his performance videos were still awe-inspiring with how much pretty much every flow art has evolved, especially poi with tech and wall plane becoming the dominant style. I mean he's pulling off moves you never see today and this is really inspiring me to go back and watch some old videos. Like I've been spinning for a bit over a year now and can do a good amount of tech but that move at like 3:10 is just something I've never even seen someone try since I've been into flow for about 4 years.
    I'm on an old flow video binge right now. Trying to see how flow has evolved over the past decade or so.

      Haha I binge old poi videos too now, and nick is just phenomenal :)
      He can flow wearing full body custom and I will recognize him immediately!
      He has such a vibrant and cheerful flow :)

    I love this though. I learn from you guys. You guys have opened up doors for this little introvert that I never thought possible. I will continue to watch and learn.

    I am also a cross between a Buddhist too. I like peace and energy play. I often play with fire and since its my element (in wicca fire is a element) it oten speaks to me heals me makes me feel safe. they say fire can heal and protect but its also a force that can hurt and destroy. Fire can create but there is that chance one day it will destory us all. the earth was created in a explosion which had fire one day it will be destroyed by an explosin which has fire.

    In NZ we literally learned how to spin fire poi in parks & beaches & by rivers at night with people drumming in a circle. You don't need to be taught at all. Just get a group of people together and have water avail (not that I have ever seen anyone ever need to be doused in water). Practice in your backyard with non-fire poi also & voila, you can teach yourself poi.

    i would highly recommend making your own, the more you know about how they work the better i believe they will come out, and if they are made by you every detail can be customized for you. not to mention you can make 4 sets for what 1 will run you on home of poi... and probably faster at that

    it's called an orbital/super-duper-uber-loop,
    Basically you cross the chains in a weave directly in the same point on both chains and they continuesly wrap and unwrap themselves creating the spin.

    @dryoranj... If you keep buying disposables you'll waste more money in the long run. the socks and tennis ball is a great cheap setup and less painful when learning, especially the knocks on the noggin. Flowsticks are great and they are highly durable, plus you can put them on different settings. You can also buy the light up squishy poi balls. The fabric poi is good for practice and is usually easier to do hyperloops. you can also get the little swivel links to help boost amazing spins

    its an effect that some cameras have where it makes the exposure of the picture lqast longer.
    think of the moving world as a line. a normal picture is a simple dot or fraction of a second, where as pictures like these are short lines usually expanded over 2-5 seconds.
    sorry if its confusing, but... eh, maybe im not the best person to ask about it ^_^. hope i helped you out in anyway

    Spinning fire isn't incredibly hard. Spinning fire really well is hard, but basic spinning just requires staying in motion and not being afraid flame. You can bonk yourself with a burning poi and usually not catch on fire as long as it doesn't make contact for very long. If you're using one of those giant monkey paw ones you're more likely to get burned though. You definitely want a spotter though to put you out with a heavy cloth if you do catch though, and don't spin near anything flammable.
