I mean, I wouldn't say he didn't care about Grey Worm? Like they were allies and both the Queen's like right hand men and warriors. And he was fighting FOR the Queen when he died, even if it wasn't directly in front of her or anything.
This was the episode that made George wash his hands out of the series. They aired it with changes (Selmy dying) without consulting him and it didn't go down well.

When this season first came out on HBO, the first four episodes were hacked and leaked. So people who watched the leaked episodes online had to wait a lot longer to see what happened in the aftermath of this fight and I was sooooo pissed because Barristan Selmy was my favorite character (he's still living in the books, BTW!) He is truly one of the most badass characters ever. He's the guy Jaime was talking about when he said he fought like an artist who only used the color red.
In the books Stannis has a jester named patchface. He is not in the series, but in the books he babbles a lot, or at least he is dismissed as babbling. Thing that amazed me was Melisandre is scared to death of him
I think in Winds they will delve into this more, but whenever Melisandre sees an image of patchface she sees skulls. Patchface may or may not be a prophet, but he is dismissed as a babbling idiot. Mel sees something in him and is afraid of what she sees.@@millieboon

I love Margaery scenes... the way she comes strong at him, screaming and demanding, realizing later, she needs to use another way. Going more soft and trying to make him understand the situation, which he was clueless about it and confuse. Later on, she understands that Tommen is too unexperience for this game. Margaery made sure, that Tommen understands that Margaery is on Tyrells side, and if he wants to want her... he needs to choose her family as well.

At the end of book 5 (6 & 7 are still unpublished), Barristan is still alive, following the events you see at the very end of season 5. This is another example of the showrunners trying to condense and shorten the plot, because they already knew they wanted to end the series soon. So characters are deleted, including many new important characters who never make it to the show, and different storylines are mashed up together (like Sansa and Ramsay who never even meet in the books, he marries someone else), with the clear intent of shortening the story. Season 5 is also when GRRM stopped being very involved in the series, by decision of D&D, obviously because they wanted to do their own thing with the plot (sadly).
I've mentioned this before concerning this episode and how I think Loras was taken too easily. As a fighter, he is just a step beneath Jaime and Brienne. I know it was part of the story for him to be captured, but can't believe he wouldn't have cut down a few of the faith militant, especially in full armor and his sword two steps away.
Wasn't he training? Then he would only have a training sword with a dulled blade at best. He had put it down to see what the commotion was and they surrounded and grabbed him before he could react. If he had his proper sword in hand and knew the mob approaching was dangerous they wouldn't have a chance against him.
Now that you've met the Faith Militant, I think of them like the followers of Fr. Savanarola around the year 1500. You've heard of the "bonfire of the vanities"? That was him. Extremists like this. I think they have to be what GRRM based the Faith Militant on since he took so much inspiration from real history.

The one thing I have a real issue with is the idea that Littlefinger was unaware of what a sadistic, vile psycho Ramsey is. That slimeball did so much brutality seemingly everywhere that surely he had a reputation. People do talk, and Littlefinger has ears around.
Cersei is jealous because she will no longer be the queen and that is why she created the sparrow sect to use them as police but they are more of a sect than police and in the end when you create a monster it can attack you if you don't control it
I think he will make it back to Westros in the books. At least I hope so. I expect him not to survive long after returning, but I hope he at least makes it back to Westeros.
