It really is pretty frustrating. It's hard to recommend the book series to anyone because of the fact that we're *still* waiting
Its been 13 years. 13 long years. The TV show was still just starting when that book came out.
Honestly, being able to feel sympathy for even the worst individuals when they are suffering something so awful is a sign that you're just a genuinely good person. It doesn't mean you forgive her or her actions, just that you recognize that she is still human.

I quit this show so many times!! I finally understood why my friends needed me to watch it 😂. I caved and binge watched it about a month before S6 aired, shout out to the OG GOT Support Watch who convinced me to stick with it

Best season by far. There's like only 2 episodes that can be considered filler, if that. Every other episode is just an absolute banger with insane moments.
@@davidjejna9700never fully got the hate for 7. I liked a lot of it, even that cameo because of it humanizing the Lannister soldiers before the Loot Train scene. The biggest issue with the season, which is admittedly a BIG issue is that Sansa/Arya plot. Just atrocious

In A Feast For Crows there is a beautiful chapter from Sam's POV. Sam was leaving to go to Oldtown and Jon was saying goodbye. Snow was falling. Jon gave Sam a strange sad smile and told him to put his hood on as the snow was melting in his hair. The reader was instantly taken back to book one where Jon said goodbye to Robb and how the snow melted in Robb's red hair.

I do like how there's two chapters recounting the same events, one from Sam's POV and the other Jon's. And they are very different in tone.

They included that scene of Meryn abusing those girls just so they could justify the over the top gruesomeness of his death
They had to compress & straighten the novels' plot for the TV-series, and that means several TV-characters are amalgams of multiple novel-characters. Ser Meryn does indeed exist in the novels, but in the TV-version he also serves as a stand-in for a novel-only guy named "Raff the Sweetling" - he's one of the Mountain's thugs, and a sadistic killer, serial rapist & pedophile (whose monstrous behavior earned him an express ticket to Arya's shitlist). Novel-Meryn is a just a callous & casually cruel jerkass of a knight, but they added Raff's sexual sadism & pedophilia to his character for the TV. So in the novel, it's Raff who meets his gruesome (yet well-deserved!) end in the Bravoosi brothel, whereas Ser Meryn Trant is still alive & well so far.
Aka… lazy writing. The creators wanted everybody to cheer for Ayra, despite the fact that she was going on a dark path, therefore make everyone she kills downright awful that their deaths would be justified. I’m turning Meryn Trant into a pedo is one of the biggest BS choices. As there’s nothing to allude to the fact that he is one. It’s even hypocritical when you think about it, considering how there’s been characters that we would for that have done way worse things due to following orders, yet when Meryn was following the orders, the creators thought that he should be more villainized for it.

Okay, the reason they killed Jon (which is slightly different in the book, but similar):
1/ He allowed Wildlings to pass through the wall, eat from the Watch's stockpiles and even gave them land to settle on. This is the opposite of what the Watch stands for and has for centuries (at least).
2/ He was seen to have taken a side in Westerosi politics by hosting Stannis and sharing intelligence with him.
3/ Last straw was his plan to take an active role in the war against the Boltons, essentially declaring his intention to break his vows. For someone who's already on dubious grounds with almost half the Watch, this is just confirmation that he's not fit for the leadership and his life is forfeit.
We might disagree with it and see his intentions as being good - but the mutineers objectively have a valid reason for their actions.
(Book wise, Alliser Thorn isn't involved as he's commanding another castle at this time - its Bowen Marsh (Lord Steward, effectively third in command of the Night's Watch) who is the ringleader, and he's not happy with what he's doing but sees it as his duty to protect the Watch from destruction. Past Lord Commanders have almost brought the Watch down via similar actions (aka, the Night's King, not to be confused with the show-only Night King).
In the books they had good reasons and their timing made sense. Jon had done something which was wrong from their point of view and was about to do something even worse, so they stopped him. In the show while I understood their reasons for being angry with Jon the timing bothered me. Thorn could have refused to open the gate getting rid of Jon and preventing the wildlings from coming in. Instead he decided to let the wildlings in and killed Jon afterwards. What was he hoping to achieve but revenge? Is he planning to tell the wildlings: "We have changed our minds, please go back north." and expects them to be ok with this? Olly might be naive enough to think once Jon is dead all will be fine, but I don't see what made the other conspirators think it was a good idea to kill Jon at this precise time.
We all learned that the worst things you can do during a Game of Thrones episode is
1. Have a favorite character
2. Say "I'm so happy."

Mmmmmeh, the season six is enjoyable and does have what I consider the last 'great' moment of GoT (involving a balcony), but it's fairly meh from here till the end sadly :')

It's amazing how powerful this series can still be after all these years.
I always thought it was likely Selyse (Stannis’s wife) leaned into the Lord of Light stuff because it was all she had to hold on to after everything she’d been through. I also think she was unable to let herself live Shireen because she was afraid Shireen would die just like all her other children. She only snapped out of it when Shireen was truly in danger but by then it was too late.

also a little nod to the books with the jump off of winterfell's ramparts as children the boys used to do it and land in the snow drifts below, however sansa i don't think ever did so it truly was a leap of faith for her and a genuine display of trust in theon which is even more sad because it was his first thought of escape and harkens back to him being one of them playing as children except its now saving her with a dare robb probably thought up as a kid

Hannah Honey, just know here in New England as kids the snow would be sooo deep we would jump from roof tops, trees etc into the thick snow.
you can tell when people have never seen more than a few inches of snow at most, when they react to this scene. Jumping off roofs into snowdrifts was a childhood pastime.

If historical accuracy is the issue, the use of the word "pussy" in a sexual way was first done in 1664, which is way ahead of the rough time period Game Of Thrones takes place.

I think it would be incredibly arrogant for us to assume they happened to coincidentally speak modern English in Westeros. The actual word they used pre-dub would likely have been vastly different linguistically but have the same intended meaning. Perhaps c.nt would have worked better - but perhaps would have upset some viewers (not here in Oz though).

On other hand, I cannot tell you how many times I stopped watching GOT due to certain characters' demise. I lost count.
However, you've got this! Channel that rage.
Here's why you wouldn't try to climb down the castle wall: the best way to survive a high jump into a soft material (like snow) without breaking your legs is to fall on your back. Ideally, your entire back and legs would hit at the same time, spreading out the impact. Landing on your feet and rolling is good too, except it would break both legs. Trying to climb down and slipping would result in an awkward, uncontrolled fall where you're more likely to get hurt.
It doesn't take a big fall to get seriously hurt either. I saw a video of someone falling off a rock climbing wall like 5 feet in the air, landing wrong, and their arm snapped like a piece of celery. You're better off falling in a controlled manner, especially if it's snowy and the castle wall could be slippery with ice.
Use some toilet cleaner eg toilet duck etc to coat the toilet with fluid covering the 'residue'. Leave for half hour then use the brush and give a good scrub. Should resolve most leftover mess when you been to the loo.
Stannis is a great character irrespective of him letting her daughter die... Well according to game of thrones world you have to judge him you cannot judge him according to real world.

She didn't endure it thought. Lena felt too uncomfortable being naked for the scene, so they used a body double. CGI was then used to super impose Lena's face onto the body double.
Kudo to the girl who took the job knowing she wouldn't have any lines, and that she would be in the biggest TV show in the world and no one would know it.

@@thinkhector She did endure it. Lena Headey filmed the walk of shame scenes just like the nude body double (Rebecca Van Cleave) did, only she was wearing a shift. Her body from the neck down down was later swapped in the editing process with her double's.

However, walking down a street dressed is something everyone does, everyday.
Being naked in front of hundreds of others is the real ordeal.
I have worked at a preschool for many years and sometimes need to take care of vomit, etc. In order not to gag, I have discovered that if you use your voice/vocal cords with exhaled air (like a long and drawn out roar) you can't get sick, at least not me. So that's what I do/sound like while drying up at preschool after various incidents.
You who seem to nauseate quite easily might want to try it. Besides, it can be highly entertaining for us to hear you roar. But I am writing this to help you. And I find your gagging quite entertaining too, if you'll excuse me. Good luck!

This is the beauty of Game of Thrones. He writes his characters in such a way that nothing is black and white. You can feel for her.

I have been waiting for this reaction!!! Your reaction was identical to mine. I was actually angry for 3 months solid. We had a very long wait between seasons so theories were started and helped me cope lol. Literally never been more angry over a character death in my life.

Yeah here's the thing I'm watching this on my phone I started it while I'm in the bathroom and I was still about to skip the intro because of Ash but I wasn't going to skip the episode because you know it's a finale
I was fuming when I saw this. I literally stopped watching it until a colleague told me that it’s worth it to continue. So after months I did and it was indeed worth it.
Imagine watching as the series was released. People refused to believe it. But the actor Kit Harrington after a while confirmed he talked to the writers and they actually told him "No, that's really it, you're all done." It was genuinely heartbreaking and infuriating... and then you think "this is GoT, why am I surprised?"
Stains like these are these moments where i realize i have to work out or get a metalbrush xD
