Parasite is one of the most thrilling and thematically sound movies I’ve seen in a long time. An amazing script which cuts at class issues in a incredibly unique way.

@@richardlugali2690 Despite its simplicity, it's still nonetheless a powerful and very moving (at least for me) story. Of course the directing sometimes overshadow the script, but we can't then just deny the latter's effect. And a good script isn't just about dialogues, it's so much more. But I whole heartily agree that Parasite deserves best original screenplay. 1917 is good, but I'm afraid Parasite is probably on another level.
Find someone to look at you the way Bong Joon-ho looks at his Oscar. ❤️

It's been 3 years but still : what an incredible movie
Korean movies DESERVE to be noticed globally!! They make the best movies like ever. They never disappoint, even Kdramas are too beautiful to watch... don’t hate me for saying this but when it comes to making movies and dramas, Koreans have it the best. PARASITE deserves these amazing awards. Hats off to the director, actors and actresses, and all of the staff. Super well deserved...also, stan harry styles sksksksk

After watching the other Parasite wins and reactions, it told me something. Everyone there wanted something new to rise up and win. Parasite was that movie that was new and you can tell everyone even the ones nominated gave actual reaction to the movie.
PARASITE IS NOT A FILM AND NOT A DARK COMEDY. IT IS REAL CINEMA.

I feel like i want to cry watching all these speeches of Bong Joon Ho. Cause finally Asian movie represented on Oscar main category and winning.
I did a bit when he was talking about writing a script and it being very personal to South Korea, so no worries!
I want Diane Keaton to be my fun aunt and Keanu to be my cool older brother.
Bong Joon Ho's esoteric Korean Classic is really a testament to film makers from across the globe. The city scenes reminded me of the frames from Mahanagar by Satyajit ray, the bunker scenes frames were similar to Martin Scorsese's classic, Taxi Driver, story telling similar to Alfred Hitchcock, and an ending like Robert Zemeckis, No wonder Hollywood loved it, all recognition truly deserved.
i wanna go back to this day i miss being happy for parasite winning for the entire awards season

There's so much films that deserved the nomination over 1917, including Uncut Gems: The Lighthouse, The Last Black Man in San Francisco, The Farewell, Portrait of a Lady on Fire, Pain and Glory, Honey Boy etc.
None should be replaced, it’s not 1917s fault that it made it in but uncut gems didn’t 😊

I love Keaton chaotic energy.
In my opinion, this is the most deserved out of the four Oscars Parasite won.
Not that I don't think the Oscars for Best Picture or Best Picture were undeserved. If anything, they were more well earned than most of the Academy awards given out over the years in those categories.
But, with this screenplay, all of the major characters do feel like they're given time to shine and develop, if only for a few minutes, it has underlying meanings and visual symbolism, the main characters actually do seem to be very intelligent, particularly the Kim children. And the story flows very well, moves quickly, there's always something happening. But still, the viewer can follow along fairly easily, and not lose track of what's going on in the story, and keep in mind I think all of this, and that this is coming from someone who can't speak Korean and needed to keep up with the subtitles to understand what the characters were saying.
Managing to do all of this in a single screenplay is no easy task for a writer, or even several writers. So, the script, in my opinion, is the strongest aspect of the 2019 film Parasite, and also won the most well deserved of its four Oscars.
Honestly Parasite shouldn’t have won this. It has story problems and weak characters.
I absolutely agree that the writing is what really stands out in the movie. What’s makes the screenplay so great is how it balances out and blends different types of genres (comedy, drama, horror, and political commentary) that’s flows perfectly together. I also loved that the script allows its characters to be flushed out while never forgetting its main plots in regards to exposition, climax, and conclusions. Balancing so many different themes and aspects is very challenging and oftentimes can feel very disorganized and all over the place but Bong Joon-Ho still able to balance all that while never straying away from the main overall plot. There are absolutely no throwaway scenes in the movie and that’s I think Parasite was one of the best written movies of all time!
