I am surprised that every one is ignoring about that silver medal for hammer throwing sport. The wife must be a former national athlete but now forgotten. So sad... During flooding scene, the husband picks nothing but his wife's medal first... Heart breaking.. 😣
Notice how Min enters the Kim family's home without knocking while they have to ring the Park family's doorbell, wait for someone to open the door, climb stairs, walk some more and then finally get inside their home through another door. I think Bong is trying to show us that rich people easily impose themselves on poor people while poor people have to go through a series of steps just to meet them.
If you guys notice, the pizza lady who talked to them is also a build-up detail in this movie. In South Korea, if you are talk to stranger or someone who is not related to you in any way possible, you have to used jondaemal a.k.a formality. But if you talked to stranger using banmal a.k.a informality that means you look lowly to them. In this dialogue, she used a mix of banmal and jondaemal which means she looks at them underestimately.
@@edum.6353 I don't speak Korean, but formal and informal speech are often very standard features of languages and I'm guessing it's the same in Korean. This isn't particularly deep, OP was just explaining it for non-Korean speakers.
8:24 Min is lowkey looking down on Kiwoo, he implies his university friends may impress the girl but Kiwoo is 'safe', because he is from the lower class
Going after a highschooler tho... That's not normal in Korean society lol you'll be arrested obviously. Min represents the morally ambiguous mindset of those who leech off the rich, and vice versa.
6:40 Min (ex-tutor), the rich friend of Kim Ki-woo (son of poor family) mentions his grandfather started collecting the scholar's rocks since his cadet days. The key term here is "cadet days". The more complete translation would be: "My grandfather started collecting the scholar's rocks since his time as a cadet (or student) in the Korea Military Academy (of South Korea)." The translation in the movie is great, but there is only so much you can cram into short lines of text. KMA is South Korea's version of West Point of US. Doing a quick math shows Min's grandfather in this story would've been a student in KMA in the 1950s, probably right after the end of Korean War in 1953. If you were able to gain admission into KMA around 1950s, you basically got the ticket to a life of the upper middle class and/or the elite. As long as you didn't screw up majorly, you really made it. In the 1950s, S. Koreans either lived life of subsistence farmer (vast majority) or merchant (very few) or government official (very few). If one gained admission into KMA around that time, you basically got on the fast track in life. It was a great honor and difficult to get into KMA around that time, as in any society that just experienced a major war AND not much option of career available for young people. Min subtly dropping here that his grandfather went to KMA is basically Min flexing. And the Kim family doesn't really mind because they know what KMA signifies.
I really appreciate this insight and analysis! I really enjoy this movie and wish I had the linguistic and cultural background to understand the subtle parts of the dialogue, like this.
Man, it's just far and far fetched. Some people tend to guess anything and regale themselves with their own belief that they spotted and deciphered a hidden message encoded by the director. Saying that their grandpa was a KMA graduate is not much a show-off and after all Min has no reason to show it off at that moment since they are featured as close friends and thus both family should already know each other's family background. He was just explaining how he came to appear with that unusual gift.
I am still surprised this film didn't win Best Editing too. You don't even realise there is a one shot or zoom happening...the editing is *that* smooth. You just flow with the movie.
1:15 That silver medal and the picture shows that although Mrs.Kim once was an excellent sports player, she couldn't win the gold medal. And so she ended up falling out from her 'planned' life.(It happens in S.Korea because everywhere people competes, the winner takes, the loser disappears.) If she had won the gold medal, her 'plan A' might be building her career as a player and becoming a coach and more, but she faced an unplanned failure and nothing was left. So she might have chosen to marry somebody as a 'plan B', but it also fails, now she asks her husband, "So what's your plan?" Everyone has their own life plans. But only the winner can live as planned. So this film starts telling about all the losers under the only one winner.
@@studentuser101 that's always the case. Go back in time and tell someone that it's the effort that counts and see how far they make it before starving.
3:16 The moment the pizza lady says "so 1 out of 4 are rejects" is instantly followed with camera revealing the whole family of four humbly listening, so it could mean that not only the boxes are faulty, but one of the family members is. EDIT: ...which is obviously the father who rushed his way through it! Look how he turns his head around in shame. Very subtle and accurate
It is also a kind of foreshadowing as the daughter from of the poor family of 4 and the father from the rich family of 4 dies (1 out of 4 ar rejects i.e one of them dies)

Beer at 5:55 is the cheapest beer in Korea. As the movie goes on, family drink more expensive beer. Those who watched the movie will get the point. I think this is one of examples of 'Bongtail'.

When it comes to the Oscars... sure The Irishman, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood & Joker are popular films with the mainstream media, but truth be told PARASITE is the film most people are talking about on the street, internet, work, school & at home. This film should win BOTH the Foreign Language Film & Best Motion Picture awards this year !
✔ Palm D'Or Prize (Best Film) - Cannes Film Festival 2019 ((France)) ✔ Golden Globe Award (Best Foreign Language Film) Golden Globes 2020 ((US)) ✔ BAFTA Award (Best Foreign Language Film) B.A.F.T.A. 2020 ((UK)) * Nominated: for Best Foreign Film (Cesar Awards) 2020 ((France)) * Nominated: For Best Foreign Language Film & Best Motion Picture (Academy Awards) 2020 ((US)) * Nominated: for Best International Film (Independent Spirit Award) 2020 ((US))
Mirtheous Parasite (maybe) not winning an award is not OscarsSoWhite. It’s just the fact it’s not an American or British film that turns off the academy. It’s not racism, but a lot of the academy probably prefer films like 1917 because it’s more of an Oscar film. Parasite is not like an Oscar film and is part of why it’s so great. Even though films like Jojo and Parasite are way better than pretty good films like 1917, you have to understand the Academy adores historical films. The Oscars so white movement is pretty much over now. They started fixing it in 2017 and it’s really not a big problem anymore. They nominated Black Panther for 6 awards, if that’s not them trying hard not to be racist I don’t know what is.
lol Seriously. This film has inspired so many casual viewers to watch this film critically and make their own analysis. It's actually kinda fun reading them.
my favorite thing in this movie is there’s a lot of metaphors, inside story, cultural story, and one scene is linking up to another bigger scene and we didnt even notice that. bong joon ho did a really good job in detail🙏🏻
Possible spoiler ahead, but the fact that Ki-taek actually tries to optimize his box-folding and then fails really reflects how, later on the movie, he advises Ki-woo to plan nothing ahead since things will never go as expected .
I think he knows that fact but doesn't tell it to Kevin in the beginning when he talks about his plan to go to university because he doesn't want to discourage him. And even though we all know the truth, we try our best.
It also compounds the fact that the father is a loser. He only gets the job when his children get it for him, it's implied that the 25% of the pizza folding rejects were folded by him and so on
I love this detail. At 9:00 Ki woo asks if he has to pretend to be a college student AND Immediately a bus passes THEM.. INDICATING THE SHIFT IN THE CHARACTER. You can see it as he pauses..
Aaron Samuel: yea! I also noticed it and the producer actually explained that it take them 3 times to get that bus pass at the exact dialogue, so all of the background scene was planned after all🤯
I love it when ki woo ask "but do I have to pretend to be a college student?" a car flashes behind and moving really fast in such a small road. I don't know how to put it into words but I'm sure it's interpreted ki-woo's thought.
Nind, there was an interview with the actor and the director saying how they had to time their dialogue with the bus passing by behind them. It took three takes because the dialogue was long. (ONLY three takes, to me that’s impressive!). So see, it was deliberate :) The bus has an advertisement on it. All I could think of at this moment as I write this, is that Ki-Woo will need to “pass” for a college student. It’s ridiculous but it made me laugh.
The dad told his son in the gym it's better to not have plans, because when you plan something it never works out. His son made a plan at the end to purchase the house. The house will never get purchased by the son.
4:22 I love the way the family subtly corner her to further pressure her to give Ki-Woo a chance for a job interview. From the very first time I watched it, it reminded me of a somewhat similar scene in The Godfather. Little nuances like this is exactly why Bong Joon-Ho deserved to win Best Director ahead of everyone else. Fucking brilliant.
His name is Park Seojoon! One of the greatest Korean actors! He's won many awards and acted in many hit kdramas such as "Kill Me Heal Me", "Fight For My Way", "What's Wrong With Secretary Kim", "Itaewon Class", etc. Y'all should check him out he's HiLaRiOuS 😇
Noticed throughout the movie that when characters went to lowerclass areas, it was always down, and away from the light (like the very first shot, they are "underground" and he is facing away from the light). Anytime characters move towards a more upperclass/wealthy area, they head upwards, and towards a light source. Found that fascinating.
This movie hits me so many times with "No matter how hard you tried if in the end you fail, your hard work doesn't matter even though you know in the process that you sweat blood just to get what you want but you still do not get it." saying.
GUYS. this is truly a masterpiece. BJH left so many easter eggs in the first ten minutes. Although the plot is simple, the way the movie is made has SO many layers. It really makes you think. WOW. just a masterpiece
I noticed that the “friend” only showed a picture of the rich girl to the poor fella only after he admitted that his sister couldn’t afford lessons thus sealing the deal for his friend to pick him to teach the rich girl English. Poor guy admitted how poor his family was, so he was not a threat.
Bruh, Min went to Ki-Woo’s house and even just walked in without knocking/ringing the doorbell, indicating he’s a close friend. I’m pretty sure he knew Ki-Woo was poor well before Ki-woo mentioned his parents don’t have work or sister can’t afford lessons.
A kdrama stan definitely saw everyone in this movie in different drama. I almost screamed when i saw park seo joon entering (i had no idea he was in it).
I am so happy after Oscars. Parasite deserved every single award they got. Shame that this movie got overlooked in acting categories, especially Park So-dam, she was phenomenal. Congratulations!
idk if anyone already pointed this out but south korea got the best internet connection in the world and for free! the fact they even struggled to get connection speak so much of their situation 😭
Exactly halfway through the film, the twist occurs, which is wild enough. But realizing that Ki-Woo accepts the offer exactly 10 minutes in? This screenplay is structurally breaking my brain over here.
Well at 6:40, I’m partly agreed with some other comments that Min did brag about how wealthy his grandpa is, e.g. that his grandpa got to study in an elite institution and possesses plenty of rare stones in his collection. The fact that this stone will symbolically bring the prosperity also show his pity for his his friend’s (Kiwoo’s) poor family. However, in my opinion, Min might not “intentionally” want to offend his best friend or anything. Ones can see from his smile after Kiwoo’s metaphorical sentence how he’s happy knowing Kiwoo liked his present. Even though Min’s explanation sounded insulting to Kiwoo, he still understood that Min gave him the stone out of good wills. So he tried to change the subject patiently by saying ‘Min! This is so metaphorical’ without resentful expressions. I conclude that Min considered Kiwoo as his real best friend. If not he wouldn’t step into Kiwoo’s house freely or introduce Kiwoo to his grandpa. Whether he really looked down on Kiwoo is unclear, as not much information are given. (The drinking scene can be interpreted differently) But for Kiwoo, it’s poverty that makes him feel like he has much lower status in their relationship or Min may get along with him only out of pity. PS Pardon my poor English as it’s not my mother tongue 😭
awasetsu, your English was good! Thank you for sharing your interpretation. I liked how Min was kind to Ki-Woo. Ki-Woo admires him, but may be a bit jealous of him, taking his girlfriend with the same words “I’m serious. I will ask her out when she enters university.” It is spiteful because Min didn’t see Ki-Woo as a threat, or that she’s be interested in him romantically. It’s not all bad, but these things are indeed deep-rooted in Ki-Woo’s subconscious and it colours his decisions.
@@uhpam7028 Could be, but also enjoy the fact they are drinking flite, which is the cheapest "beer" in Korea it's not even real beer it's beer flavored :D.
Yep. Toilet bowl here is placed higher than them and, on the parallel, even the underground bunker in the rich family's house has a toilet bowl placed normally. Great detail of contrast between the rich and the poor.
1. The real estate agent takes pictures of flowers blooming in the place where the body is buried. It's beautiful on the outside, but people don't know what's underneath it. Like you don't know who's in the basement. 2. Ki-jung goes down to the basement with some food but ki-woo goes down to the basement with a stone. Parasites are more likely to survive if there are fewer competing objects. Ki-jung tried to coexist with other parasites(but Ki-woo tried to kill them) Such coexistence is a threat to the survival of the parasite and eventually ki-jung died. 3. The toilet at the very low end of the rich house works better than the one at the top of the poor house. The basement of the rich is better than the house of the poor. 4. Kitaek has experience driving a taxi. In a Korean movie called Taxi Driver, Song Kang-ho is a taxi driver. 5. the lines (When the maid wakes the rich lady up, she crosses the glass line. Waiting for mr. Park, ki-taek does not cross the glass line. When Kiwoo rolls a water bottle on the floor and gives it to Kijeong, the water bottle crosses the line. Kiwoo's feet lying on the grass cross the glass line.) 6. The high-quality toy tent doesn't leak, while poor homes are flooded. (the movie says the tent is made in US) 7. the worms and bugs. Ki-taek's family climb up the stairs with their two hands and feets like animals. They crawl out of the table like bugs. They have fun all night and hide like cockroaches when the rich family comes. 8. Is the plum tea made by the housekeeper just tea? Possibility that the rich wife drank it and fell asleep very deeply. The maid could have put something in a plum tea to secure time to feed her husband. Or there could have been alcohol in it. There is a scene. the man in the basement drinks it before he kills a person. 9. The rich family hung Dasong's painting of the man in the basement on the wall. The housekeeper's husband hang a picture of mr. Park in the basement and worships him. There is awe in the sight of the poor looking at the rich. Even though the rich give them nothing, they worship in the hope of something. On the other hand, the rich don't look directly at the poor as if they were just looking at art without reality. 10. In Dasongi's painting, the black part is the basement, and the arrow above it is a sign that something rises.
Who else is here after the Oscars Update: Just went to see it. The movie is amazing in so many ways. It leaves you thinking for hours after it’s finished. So true and direct without loosing grace 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
ive watched parasite twice already maybe 3 times idk.. but just watching this video i feel so engrossed as if its my first viewing, signs of a great movie!
Wow! I'm amazed you even watched it twice. The movie took all of my happiness out of me the first time I watched it. But.. on the second thought...There's too much happiness in me now... gotta watch this again.
Yep! They edited the subtitles for various countries cos KakaoTalk is not as popular outside of Korea. I believe they subtitled it as WeChat in one version - probably for distribution in China.
I can totally relate this movie. Being poor is a far worse curse than any other thing. You watch people around you living a different lifestyle. It seems that they are on some different planet where the suffreings does not exist. But here is the catch , put you head down , work , toil hard eventually success willl come. It will take some time but it will come.
i never noticed just how much foreshadowing is in the first 10 minutes of this god tier movie. the first lines spoken are 'we're screwed,' implying from the start that the family had no future, and that there was never any hope for anything good to happen out of the job opportunities. then the wife asking the dad 'what's your plan?' a direct refrence the gym scene where the son asks his dad what his plan was. the dad saying 'for wifi, hold it high' implying that technological advances and connection to the world can only be accessed higher up than where they are, in a higher class, or even physically higher than their house, which is below ground, and the rich family's house, which is on a hill. theres so many more. every single line in this movie has a purpose. i have literally never seen a more beautifully written movie. it's genius and brilliant. such a well deserved best picture :D
The first time we see the Kim parents, the mother is sitting on the floor and the father lying on the floor (they can't sink any lower)... I love the way she kicks her husband, it seems affectionate and typical of the way that family interacts...
i wonder if at 3:16 when the pizza lady says “1 out of 4 are rejects (not qualifying to be sold)” is also a referral to one member of the family being a reject or unqualified (maybe to be part of the poor ? part of the rich ?) since there are four family members
I think it refers to the father ? Coz the mother was a former athlete (?) , Good in sports and strong , the Daughter was intelligent and good at manipulation , son was also intelligent (?) And they thought of numerous plans but only the father was stuck bring a listener
i was thinking more of the son, since he’s the one who started all of this (with his tutotoring), the one who had a rich friend (the guy who gave him the huge rock) and he was the only one who questioned his place in the rich family (towards the end when he asked the rich daughter if he “fitted in”)
spoiler!! im pretty sure 1/4 referrenced to the daughter who they claimed fit in with the rich life. she was also the only one of the family who died. sorry if anyone else said this
Totally deserved every award it’s gotten, including Best Picture Oscar!!!!!!!! I love this film, even though it has violence, it is very affecting. It’s a very powerful film, in a weird twisted sort of storytelling......
artorius julius : Actually no, I don’t think so. I think the violence symbolizes the cruelty of poverty versus the superficiality of the rich, and that they have no clue how the impoverished live....... I only put that because my most intellectual friend is tired of men directors putting graphic violence at the end of films, as if to glorify it and win awards. I apologize, because I don’t believe that is true in this case. It’s meant to shock and sadden the viewer and make us feel the tragedy of this poor family using lies to get a better life........
I'm just relying on the subs but basing on the dialogue, i feel like Min was feeding his ego from the fact that there was a family like his friend's far below his own. At 8:16 Kiwoo: *"Why ask a loser like me?"* Min: *"Why do you think?"* (Normally at this point a healthy friend would spew motivational words but then instead Min's answer was) *"Just the thought makes me sick"* *"Those disgusting frat boys slavering over Da-hye? It's revolting"* Min didn't argue against Kiwoo's self-deprecation, calling himself a *Loser* instead he just continued on with his story. For him, Kiwoo is no contender for Dahye's interest. He appears to be genial, and good-natured but was that all there is to him? Think about the stone he brought, if he really mean well and was sincerely thinking then why not food, indeed? Why stone. Food = Warm Stone = Cold This is just my interpretation of the dialogue shared. But for me, it's either he's a genuine friend or another guy befriending someone supposedly 'beneath' him to feel good about himself. He could be as fake as his stone.
Min represents a morally ambiguous character. The father praises Min when he stands up to the drunk man for urinating in public, yet he's the type of guy who's comfortable bending the rules in his favor, recommending his friend to fake his resume, and eyeing a High Schooler who is not of legal age which is not normal in Korean society.

It’s actually the floor that’s dirty! One of Bong’s detail to show the house’s poor condition. In Korea, expensive houses have smooth, wooden floors while less affordable houses use cheap floor material that are patterned as wood and become really sticky especially when it’s humid! I guess humidity is another feature of basement houses that Bong uses to symbolize poverty.
In the script, it said the opening scene has a strangely upbeat music. This is probably because in the beginning the Kim family, although poor, were still all together as a family before being ripped apart literally by their ambition and desire to become rich, which costed them everything.
This was such a good movie, it blatantly showed the dark side of society, the disparity of wealth and the struggle of the poor in a materialistic world.

Ki woo or Kevin is too into pretending to be like Min. Seeing how Min yelled at the man who trying to go on their window, Kevin later wanted to act like Min so he hold the stone and tried to use that to stop the man. The dad told him just use water instead. Another time he even asked what would Min do in this situation, the sister said Min would never be in this kind of situation anyways. Kevin wasn’t very realistic with things and he just believed in the stone. He was similar to his dad, both don’t have the rich attitude but want to be rich, that’s why the dad just told him near the end not to make any plans at all, seeing his son holding on the stone. The sister is more capable and realistic. Remember when she was asked what kind of room she would choose in the rich house, she just said just buy or own the house first then she would start thinking about that. But the dad was satisfied with just living like parasites under the rich and said they were practically living in this house (same as the son, dreaming about being with the rich girl, and owning the house)
A bit late, but in the beginning they were struggling to find WiFi, and had to go to the highest point in their basement, but while they were at the other home, WiFi could be found as low as where the house maids husband was.

Min (ex-tutor), the rich friend of Kim Ki-woo (son of poor family) mentions his grandfather started collecting the scholar's rocks since his cadet days. The key term here is "cadet days".
The more complete translation would be:
"My grandfather started collecting the scholar's rocks since his time as a cadet (or student) in the Korea Military Academy (of South Korea)."
The translation in the movie is great, but there is only so much you can cram into short lines of text.
Damn!
Wish you'd do the same analysis for the 'metaphorical' line
damn. I'm korean and I didn't even know this. Thanks for the breakdown
Thank you!!!
So she might have chosen to marry somebody as a 'plan B', but it also fails, now she asks her husband, "So what's your plan?"
Everyone has their own life plans. But only the winner can live as planned. So this film starts telling about all the losers under the only one winner.

When it comes to the Oscars... sure The Irishman, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood & Joker are popular films with the mainstream media, but truth be told PARASITE is the film most people are talking about on the street, internet, work, school & at home. Don't forget 1917, Sam Mendes is winning almost every award. I'm rooting for Parasite but the themes and visuals makes 1917 the favorite.
@Mirtheous 1917 is a one trick pony
It’s a perfect independent movie.

Possible spoiler ahead, but the fact that Ki-taek actually tries to optimize his box-folding and then fails really reflects how, later on the movie, he advises Ki-woo to plan nothing ahead since things will never go as expected .

Exactly halfway through the film, the twist occurs, which is wild enough. But realizing that Ki-Woo accepts the offer exactly 10 minutes in? This screenplay is structurally breaking my brain over here.
Well at 6:40,
I’m partly agreed with some other comments that Min did brag about how wealthy his grandpa is, e.g. that his grandpa got to study in an elite institution and possesses plenty of rare stones in his collection.
(The drinking scene can be interpreted differently)
But for Kiwoo, it’s poverty that makes him feel like he has much lower status in their relationship or Min may get along with him only out of pity.
I will ask her out when she enters university.”
It is spiteful because Min didn’t see Ki-Woo as a threat, or that she’s be interested in him romantically. It’s not all bad, but these things are indeed deep-rooted in Ki-Woo’s subconscious and it colours his decisions.
This film was all around perfect, like literally. It claimed best picture and won the Palme d’Or, one of two movies to do so.

Kiwoo's feet lying on the grass cross the glass line.)
6. The high-quality toy tent doesn't leak, while poor homes are flooded. (the movie says the tent is made in US)
7. the worms and bugs.

I can totally relate this movie. Being poor is a far worse curse than any other thing. You watch people around you living a different lifestyle. It seems that they are on some different planet where the suffreings does not exist.
But here is the catch , put you head down , work , toil hard eventually success willl come. It will take some time but it will come.
i never noticed just how much foreshadowing is in the first 10 minutes of this god tier movie.
the first lines spoken are 'we're screwed,' implying from the start that the family had no future, and that there was never any hope for anything good to happen out of the job opportunities.
then the wife asking the dad 'what's your plan?' a direct refrence the gym scene where the son asks his dad what his plan was.
the dad saying 'for wifi, hold it high' implying that technological advances and connection to the world can only be accessed higher up than where they are, in a higher class, or even physically higher than their house, which is below ground, and the rich family's house, which is on a hill.
theres so many more. every single line in this movie has a purpose. i have literally never seen a more beautifully written movie. it's genius and brilliant. such a well deserved best picture :D

i wonder if at 3:16 when the pizza lady says “1 out of 4 are rejects (not qualifying to be sold)” is also a referral to one member of the family being a reject or unqualified (maybe to be part of the poor ? part of the rich ?) since there are four family members
I think it refers to the father ?
Coz the mother was a former athlete (?) , Good in sports and strong , the Daughter was intelligent and good at manipulation , son was also intelligent (?) And they thought of numerous plans but only the father was stuck bring a listener
i was thinking more of the son, since he’s the one who started all of this (with his tutotoring), the one who had a rich friend (the guy who gave him the huge rock) and he was the only one who questioned his place in the rich family (towards the end when he asked the rich daughter if he “fitted in”)
no, i think it refers to the fact that one of the four family members dies in both the kim and park family
spoiler!! im pretty sure 1/4 referrenced to the daughter who they claimed fit in with the rich life. she was also the only one of the family who died. sorry if anyone else said this

What do you mean "even though it has violence". Is that supposed to be a bad thing?
artorius julius : Actually no, I don’t think so.

At 8:16
Kiwoo: *"Why ask a loser like me?"*
Min: *"Why do you think?"*
(Normally at this point a healthy friend would spew motivational words but then instead Min's answer was)
*"Just the thought makes me sick"*
*"Those disgusting frat boys slavering over Da-hye? It's revolting"*
Min didn't argue against Kiwoo's self-deprecation, calling himself a *Loser* instead he just continued on with his story. For him, Kiwoo is no contender for Dahye's interest.
He appears to be genial, and good-natured but was that all there is to him? Think about the stone he brought, if he really mean well and was sincerely thinking then why not food, indeed? Why stone.
Food = Warm
Stone = Cold
This is just my interpretation of the dialogue shared. But for me, it's either he's a genuine friend or another guy befriending someone supposedly 'beneath' him to feel good about himself. He could be as fake as his stone.
Omg that’s actually a brilliant analysis
Min represents a morally ambiguous character. The father praises Min when he stands up to the drunk man for urinating in public, yet he's the type of guy who's comfortable bending the rules in his favor, recommending his friend to fake his resume, and eyeing a High Schooler who is not of legal age which is not normal in Korean society.

You don't seem to quite understand the repercussion of your trolling, because if you were a wage-earning adult in Korea, and HR finds out what you've been saying here you'll be out of a job very quickly. 일본 야동좀 그만봐라 에휴... 진짜 할말을 잃었다. 일본인이 아닌이상 어떻게 13세가 합법인줄 착각하고 있냐.
@@OYT0724 Hey everyone, this shithead Mark S seriously lacks minimum intelligence to read and understand law and confuses between what (s)he thinks is right and what is reality, a characteristic of imbecile. In Korean law, the age of statutory rape is 13. That is reality. Don't be misled by this helpless prick who cast aspersion on someone's character who says truth, just because she does not want to accept it.
@@OYT0724 Julian Choi wins this argument. Please be more respectful to others in the future if you are not sure what you are talking about.
This stone is so metaphorical. All the rich people's gifts in the world shy away instantly. And also the lady kill it when she said food had been better for poor people than a gift.😂
Fun fact: Min and Ki-Woo are actually good friends in real life, just wanted to point that 😂
06:00 best sence , dirty foot
Agree! Detail😂
All hail this "glorious wifi". 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love reading the comments since I feel that gives me a better understanding of the movie
This Movie should be the Creme de la Creme of all movies. From the opening scene until the last, every scene serves it purpose.Wow!!!
The greatest movie ever made! I'm still thinking about it today. Wow just wow.
The highest point in there house is their toilet. Damn Dude
Interesting how this family living in a cellar like underground basement rises through society somewhat to find themselves meeting someone from an underground basement just like them...
1:24 thats exactly how parasite's walks
Muhammad Alawi, with feelers up and searching. How symbolic.
Woah they changed that title to best picture winner, fast
parasite came out digital before it came to the cinemas in Norway, wow
A perfect film. Possible the best film that came out in the last ten years
one of the things that i love about this movie is that at 9:02 the bus passing by is actually scripted and has a symbolism
Which is?
@@calypsobirdie94 it mostly shows ki-woo's sudden interest/change of character. it can also symbolize a sudden change which is the root of all the mess that happens afterwards
@@bsbx thx!
17/9000 people from the academy refused to see this film because they don’t like to read subtitles ( I don’t understand what’s so wrong about subtitles) and plus this one of best of the decade and for me 2nd best of the year (if you’re wondering my first and third my third is the lighthouse and and my first is uncut gems and marriage story yes it’s a tie)
Fariston I know I don’t know how but I loved uncut gems but marriage story I related to so much because my parents got divorced and I just couldn’t have put these lower
He still uses a LG G4 in 2019 !!!!!😍
This film perfectly describes what social climbing is like in modern society😂😂😂. They try to befriend you because they benefit from you. Once you're no longer useful to them, they discard you like a piece of trash. Like an insatiable parasite that switches to a new host once it has sucked out all the life of its old one.
'Parasite' actor Lee Sun-kyun who played Mr Park found dead in his apartment RIP
not apartment but his car
The comment box of this video made me realise that I have watched nothing in this movie.
usually, it's funny when people overanalyse every single thing in a piece of art but in this movie, everything seems to be intentional.
Climbing into the toilet to get free WiFi is hilariously ironic. My favourite scene. I hope one day to see Bong Joon-ho team up with Quentin Tarantino
7:05 개인적으로 이영화 최고의 명대사라고본다 정말 감동 그자체
that was a fast title change
2:42 Poor dad (Kim Ki-Taek) who didn't cough during the fumigation eventually left in the basement..
One of the best movie of a decade
A bit late, but in the beginning they were struggling to find WiFi, and had to go to the highest point in their basement, but while they were at the other home, WiFi could be found as low as where the house maids husband was.
I would like to see more great drama collaborated with so dam park in English Disney films
wow.no wonder the movie won.So much aesthetics for 10 minutes.Solid narrative structures and strong character.
1/4 are rejects. Those were the dad’s boxes. Therefore, he’s the reject in the family.
Woah so deep
if it didn't win best picture at Oscar
i am going to say Oscar didn't deserve this
Simple..either it'll will best international feature film or best picture of the year.
or both
Wow not only did Kiwoo start the whole mess that eventually happened, he made moves on the girl he knew his friend was planning to ask out
This is great. I missed the first 10 mins. when I went to see it. Thx
Me too
TRE45ON, that happens to me too. I’m so glad you get to piece it together now!
Powerfully Heartwrenching ,I 've been holding my emotion UNTIL the moment 2:32,smoke invading harshly in their house.I just cracked 😥😥,I can't help bursting out tears😭
I didn’t mean to laugh, but the keep the windows open so that we get the stink bugs killed sounded exactly like something I would do, and immediately regret.
I am not in high school right now but I am excited to see this movie being analyzed in an English or Film class. We analyzed Tim Burton's films in Grade 11 and it was fun for me. There were a lot of reactions and the deeper I dig, the more fun I have. I hope that I can go back to that time and have this film in our class.
