- Freddie Mercurys close friend and personal assistant Peter Freestone talks to me about his friendship with Freddie, about Mary Austin and was Paul Prenter the villain as the movie portrays? plus Peter also talks about Freddie's final days and what he was like behind closed doors.
I am 25 years old and this was a true honor to get to speak to Peter and find out more about one of the great musicians the world has ever seen. Развлечения
Thank you,Peter for keeping Freddie's legacy alive. I will never forget him. I am one year older than Freddie would be. I believe, today's young people should know the true talent of Freddie Mercury as there will never be another like Freddie.
Peter Freestone remained loyal and dedicated to Freddie in good times, in bad times, in sickness and until beyond. What an honourable man.
I absolutely LOVE Phoebe! Thank you, Phoebe for being such a lovely, devoted friend! Freddie was a brilliant, intelligent and gifted human, whose death was so brutally unfair! His death must have just left his friends distraught for a long time, such a big presence in their lives gone but also so many wonderful memories. So hard to believe it's been 32 years now!
Thank you for this great interview.
I'm so relieved to know I'm not the only one discovering Queen, incl. Freddie just now 😅 And loving the music and the 4 guys. I don't believe I ever felt this way about any other band before.
@Mimi M. Bless your heart. Your comment made me smile.... Yes, there is just something about Freddie Mercury, and Queen when the 4 of them were together, that is like no other. Welcome to our world! 💃
Welcome to The Club! We've got jackets! 😉

Same here, im in awe and in love with QUEEN. ALL OF THEM .... GIVING ME REASON TO LIVE , FREDDIES INSPIRATION ..... RODGERS ADORABLE , BRIANS A GENIUS .... WE MISS YOU. DEACYYYY....😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔FREDDIE!💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜😱😱😱💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔😭😭
My thoughts exactly...I'm completely addicted!
Phoebe, I thank you so very much for looking after Freddie during his career, nursing him during his illness and looking after his legacy with all sincerity. Freddie has found a true friend in you. As Freddie said in his song; “FRIENDS WILL BE FRIENDS RIGHT ‘TILL THE END”.
Wonderful man, Peter. Thank you for caring for, and being so loyal to, Freddie. Thank you for sharing his life with us.😍
KrazyOldLady 19, I am like you, I love Peter, he is a great man, who looked after Freddie, for over the last 20 years, of his life, with the care, kindness, love, genuinity, honesty, respect, and humour that Freddie deserves.
Next to Mary, Peter was Freddie’s only true friend. God bless you, Peter Freestone. Thank you for loving Freddie, and seeing after all of his needs.
Thank you for taking care of Freddie ,TIL THE VERY END , GOD BLESS YOU SO MUCH !💜💜💜💜💜
Amen! Peter seems like such a genuine, sweet person. I'm glad Freddie did have a few TRUE friends in his life and not the kind to take advantage like most others! Thank you 🤍

One Of The Last Things Freddie Said To Phoebe Was, Thank You For Being My Friend !!!
Ronell Beavers, as I said in previous comments, I love the brotherhood, and friendship between Freddie, and "Phoebe", it was a special bond. It was a great shame, when it ended, when Freddie died, from AIDS, on 24th November, 1991, aged just 45.
*Beautiful friendship! Amazing soul my Dear **#FreddieMERCURY**....* 😢😢😢😢😢😢 *Rest in piece my Dear!* 😔😔😔🖤❤🙏😘
The last thing he 'ever' said to him was 'pee pee'
Most people don't tell their friends to clean up after their wild parties. Phoebe was less a friend than he was an employee.
@@michaelasquith9791 b
Phoebe you are such an amazing person and I feel you can talk about Freddie one year and it wouldn’t be enough . You are such a nice guy . Bless you
Lewis Nicholls, you're a 25 year old guy, with a mature head, on such young shoulders, and I think you did yourself, Freddie, and "Phoebe" very, very proud. Great interview, Lewis, thank you.
What a relaxed interview with Peter talking but holding onto the respect that Freddie trusted him with....appreciate this loyalty.
Bless Peter! What a loyal friend.
Lola Felana, I would trust Peter "Phoebe" Freestone, than Paul "The Snake" Prenter, any day, of the week. I hate Prenter, as I said in previous comments, just typing Prenter's name leaves a bitter taste, in my mouth.
Wow, it's very clear why Freddie, with his keen eye for good people, was drawn to you, Peter. What an awesome interview. What a good man. Just much love to you, stay safe & well.
I think Peter was one of the only people that never disappointed Freddie. Thank you for your loyalty and kindness Peter. I love him so much and he still lives on in my heart everyday!
And he is one of the only one that doesn't bash and lie about Mary.
@@maryvee61 that is jealousy. Especially now, she is receiving millions and millions from the re surge of Queen ...and the movie royalties...
Peter seems like a very humble and respectful guy. I have read his book, and I have to say it was well written and not just a re-hash of quotes and stories, but written by one of Freddies real close friends. You can tell that all the interviews Peter gives are in keeping Freddies memory alive and not about Peter himself, which is very refreshing to see/Hear. Most folk want to be famous by association or a tenuous link . But Peter lived for many years with Freddie and didn't sell him out like a lot of others did. A true friend.
Wish I could've met Freddie. He sounds like an awesome person to hang out with.
Thank you, Peter, for taking such good care of Freddie. He obviously trusted you like a brother. I know Montserrat Caballe' liked Peter very much. I can't imagine how much you miss him.
Michele Huffman, Freddie's friends didn't just love Peter, AKA, "Phoebe", his fans did so, too. You can tell, when you see it in Peter's face, when he talks about Freddie, he is like, "What would Freddie say" ?, "What would Freddie think" ?, or "What would Freddie do" ?. He is a bit like Brian May, and Roger Taylor, telepathic, in that respect.
@@michaelasquith9791 Yes, you are right.
@@MicheleMJJ, thank you.
@@michaelasquith9791 I love the interview Pheobe did when Freddie first heard Montserrat Caballe sing. He said "I looked over at Freddie and his jaw was just hanging down." He said " I have now heard the most beautiful voice in the world." I believe Freddie and Montserrat had a beautiful friendship. You can tell when she talks about him she has such a loving look on her face. Only Freddie could bring together a rock star and an opera singer.
I hate listening to interviews .specially audios type..
And yet I played this 3x..
Thank u sir for caring and loving Freddie..
Me too . yall waist to nuch time on. bs
I teared up a couple times during this wonderful interview. Lewis Nicholls, you did the most sincere, warm interview I think I've heard in my long life. And Peter Freestone responded in kind. The stories were so warm and caring about a man you clearly thought the world of. It was the nicest hour of listening. Thanks to both of you. Absolutely lovely.
I grew up with Queen and I've always loved them. Freddie had a one of a kind, heavenly voice ❤ He knew he'd be a legend, even after he was gone. I hear queen on my local rock station at least 3x a day, even after all these years.
What a great friend. Nice to listen someone who lived with Freddie first hand. Class act. Great interview thankyou 😊
Thank you Peter, for your your genuine friendship and love for Freddie. This was an awesome interview. I appreciate you giving the opportunity for us to know Freddie through your eyes and heart. You were truly a blessing in Freddie's life. RWG Freddie Mercury. You were loved then, now and forever
What a wonderful interview! Thank you! Phoebe is so genuine and warm. Im greatful Freddie had and still has such a loyal and true friend.
Thank goodness for his loyalty to Freddie
Oh Phoebe thank you so much caring and loving Freddie! Listening to you I feel closer to Freddie ❤️💛
What a kind, selfless, fine man.
I KNEW Freddie wrote the last line of "These Are the Days of Our Lives." Thanks for confirming this, Peter. Great interview!
*Yes exactly, its so Freddie : “I STILL LOVE YOU...” and we're still love you my Dear **#FreddieMERCURY**, now and forever, never ever be replace, no matter what! RIP my greatest **#ICON** & **#IDOL**!* 😢😢🖤❤🙏😘
This was a fantastic interview. I agree... the film didn't show how funny Freddie was.
yeah it did
You look like Mary somehow !
"I Know Right, He had An Amazing Sense Of Humor"
The movie was an insult.
@@kazabushy sure was!!
Peter "Phoebe" Freestone, thank you, for everything you did for Freddie Mercury, from 1979-24th November, 1991, when Freddie Mercury tragically died, from AIDS, aged just 45. You were a great friend, til the end. I love the similarities between yourself, and Freddie Mercury, Peter. RIP Freddie, Mr and Mrs Bulsara, and Freddie's partner, Jim Hutton. 😥❤
Even though I was only 6 yrs old when Freddie passed, I remember the early 90s they were still playing the Radio Gaga video on Mtv and I fell in love with Freddie lol I used to tell my mother I was going to marry him! 🤣 (she didn't have the heart to tell me he was no longer alive 💔😢). Even though I have always had a crush on him, the movie just reaffirmed my adoration for him!!
You were not the only child who said such thing. My neighbour said she will marry Michael Jackson. She even said that my cousins child, totaly blond, was her and Michael child 🤣🤣🤣and she was like 8 years old then.
What a touching interview this is!! I'm crying in the studio now. I love how Peter see his contributes to the movie, and I enjoy listening to he talks about all those little things happened between him and Freddie. Also, the way he thanks the interviewer at the end is so gentle. He has a beautiful soul.
The movie changed my life honestly I fell in love with Freddie and Queen I was never a fan before just because I grew up in the 90s thank you for the interview I am loving learning about this beautiful man and bad as band!
A fictionalised Hollywood movie changed your life? Fuck!! How sad.
@@ahbowakawapoussepousse2712 A fictionalized Hollywood movie inspired her to fall in love with Freddie and Queen. NOT sad at all!!! I'm sure she's now a fan who is enjoying their music, and I think that's about the most important thing Freddie would have wanted to come out of his death.
reddie was not bad for the group he built it in the same way as others if not more than others! freddie was recognized for his work as a singer, composer and musician the film is ROMANCE Freddie was happy, confident and proud to be GAY except that he could not say anything because of his parents and in 1970 it was réprimandable !!!
Freddie was honest, loyal and kind very generous
don't be mean please it is 1 fan of + friends he must know that the film is not real Freddie was a ray of sunshine, loving to live and happy to be gay the film tells him that he anxiety lol
@@ahbowakawapoussepousse2712 well it helped that person to investigate more about Queen
Class act Peter Freestone is. Thankyou for your insight
I've read a few of the biographies and I can't get over how all of these people were meant to meet each other. Some of them knew each other before Freddie came around, but it was so destined.
Serendipity
What a beautifully honest interview. Peter clearly loved Freddie a lot and I love hearing him talk about Freddie’s life. Peter is so positive about the movie, and Queen’s ever-growing fan base and it is so refreshing. This interviewer is great as well, he’s so genuinely interested and he has clearly done his research.
I buried my child he was 32 took so young queen freddie Mercury got me through this l love and miss him so much but i listen to freddie Mercury every day ❤ 💗 ♥ 💙
Peter Freestone is such a down-to-earth chap. I just bought the Freddie Mercury biography written by him. Too bad his Montreux boat trips are all sold out for this September. I’ll try again another year.
I could sit and listen all day long to people who knew Freddie very well talk about Freddie's life. I really enjoy hearing about all the different aspects of his life. Its so very interesting.❤️ Freddie was such a kind and loving person. And he will always be remembered by all those who loved him. He was a friend to all. Rest in eternal peace Freddie, we all miss you! ❣🕊🕊
Awesome interview. I ordered Peter's book. I already read mercury and me bye Jim Hutton. I feel Jim really told the truth in his book. Sad to find out Jim passed away on New year's day 2010. I feel the book that Peter wrote is also the truth. Which I can't wait to get and read. The best kinds of books to read
Valerie Gruben, I read "Mercury, And Me", by Jim Hutton, once when I was 17, or 18, I was hooked on it. I really, really loved it, yes it gave us readers a genuine insight, of his life living with music's greatest showman. I was in tears, at the end, when he described Freddie Mercury's death.
I have read both books and was in tears by the end of both books. They were very well written and very informative.
Michael Asquith me too Michael...broke my heart
Thank you for this. I have heard many interviews with Peter, but you asked wonderful questions! It's so nice to hear how wonderful Freddie was.
I wasn’t ready for how this made me feel 😩😩😩
Thank you, Phoebe 😘❤️
Thank u very much, the interviewer. Though u r only 25, u r mature enough
U hav done ur job in a professional way. Great!
I love Mr. Freestone. He is a true gentleman, not wanting to gain any monetary gains by scandalizing Freddie. He was a true friend to Freddie and told his fans intimate details of this magical man. I believe every word he says. The movie WAS NOT A DOCUMENTARY, it was a film that has brought Queen to a new generation of fans. In my opinion, the film told us just enough to know what the Freddie under the glamor, really was like. A musical genius, a kind, thoughtful, generous, man who cherished those he loved. I am obssessed with the magic of Freddie Mercury.
This was the only interview in which I had tears just listening to Peter share such emotional moments with an icon. Hope you enjoyed the interview and would be so grateful if you would subscribe to my channel please
@@TheLewisNichollsShowYou did a wonderful job with this interview and it was very moving and felt very authentic.
Phoebe is the real deal and Fred chose his friends very wisely
The whole interview was so engaging. Thank you for sharing this with us.❤️
Great interview....Peter sounds like a wonderful man ~ thank you for sharing your time with Freddie
Yes PETER good music never goes away ! Queen Forever ❤️. I want you to know I enjoy your interviews so much and here in the USA Queen is being played everyday on television commercials lately and it’s wonderful. I like that FREDDIE is still with us through these wonderful interviews and with the movie and through the television commercials and through RUclips and Facebook. As a true fan he is in our hearts ♥️ Thank you Phoebe so much for keeping his legacy alive. I will always love FREDDIE and Queen. Thank you for being with FREDDIE Till the end, you are an angel 😇 I know this was so hard for you to let him go. He loved you and thanked you for being his friend and for being his strength. What an absolute honor for you both to have had such a wonderful friendship. God Bless you 🌹♥️
Thanks a million, Peter
Lovely glimpse of Freddie through Phoebe
It must be quiet painful to rub against those old days to a person so dear
Thanks peter
Peter I love you so. Thank you love!
Thank you Peter for the wonderful interview and your life with Freddie.
Thankyou for looking after Freddie he has a ture friend in you and lovely memories
I agree, Peter is such a good, caring & loyal friend to Freddy. Great interview, thank you so much!
Can't imagine how this was such a loving man...a friend beyond the normal. So proud he is still celebrating Freddie's life. I can't get enough of the interviews and concerts. Love you Freddie.
I have loved this human being for years for his kind nature and now I get to listen to this beautiful interview with all the right questions and all beautiful answers. I’m sure that he is honest in his answers about Freddie and I’m sure that he is the kindest friend that anyone could have. I Pray to be so fortunate as to be blessed by one friend so kind. A true Friend , and thanks to Peter Freestone we get to know 2 very special people. I’ve missed you Peter. Thank you for the interview.
I didn't think I would like this interview but it was lovely.
The interviewer did an outstanding job! Thank you very much❤️💛
Thank you so much ❤ x
Yes I agree!! A wonderful interview! He did a terrific job !! Thank you very much ! Will be listening to this interview many times! Wonderful !!
Thank you Oeter!!❤️
PETER!!
Me, again. I just listened again. I really appreciated Peter's take on Paul Prenter. I think of an interview in which it was discussed that Freddie had had a couple of abusive relationships following Mary, before meeting Jim Hutton. Take those three and that would explain that Paul was representative of about 3 people. More news about Mary, very appreciated. I'm thinking that her personal quietness (as it were) was like Freddie's personal shyness; that alone helps me to understand their unique, strong bond. I'm one who's seen the film a ridiculous amount of times and am loving what I learn about Freddie and Queen. Lewis, this interview is bringing out facets that I couldn't fit. And, yes, how cool that you had this wonderful interview with Peter! Congrats! (Oh, and I love the work that he does with a friend, going to schools to educate children on AIDS w/ "Titanic Freddie AIDS". Bravo!
Judith Hand bill Reid and Barbara valentine were bad influences! Bill was abusive to Freddie..
Why I love Freddie so much? I would give anything to have been in his life .
I enjoyed this so much! I always wished that I could have known Freddie personally, I was convinced that he was a great guy who loved to have fun and laugh, and you have confirmed that. I would have loved spending time with him (although I seriously doubt that would have ever happened. Thank you so much for this "inside" look at Freddie. Now I wish I could meet Peter, and talk all day!
Deborah Lefler I agree! I really don’t care about autographs fame etc I would just want a hug and just be with him...watch tv play scrabble...
Very informative although l listen to Freddie interview it seems.that Freddie answer regarding his sexuality differ from Peter opinion.Freddie answer when ask regarding sexuality he said that you can sleep with women, men, and even with cats and what is the diffence, His life and love is music.and that's why Freddie is a legend.
It was a contest..a competition..and this boy, "phoebian" or what is his name, responded to all needs..he was avalaible to give his life...for "a better life"...very beautiful..
Thank u very much for ur love n loyalty to freddie, peter. U r amazing! U were n r still a true friend of freddie!
Hoping that i can see u one day in montreux or somewhere
Take care!
Lovely interview.
I just adore Peter Freestone!! He is the kindest man. The movie was different because in the movie Paul Prenter went on TV to talk about his relationship with Freddy and all about what pretty did. In truth, it was a newspaper article in the Sun where he had spoken to a member of the press and told them all about it. It was not necessarily a falling out between Freddie Mercury and Paul but rather that the band was not touring and Paul was not making $$$.
If it weren't for the internet the vast majority of what folks know about FM would still be in the cupboard
Thank you sir such a good job I love Freddie Mercury he did what he did but did not deserve to die the way he did I don’t think he realize tell it was to late and indeed that is the case so sad I hope he sing up there
Thank you for this interview, Peter.
I agree with Peter. After watching the movie and then researching Queen and watching Freddie's interviews, I found him to be very witty and humorous. I wish they couldve added that into the movie. But other than that, I loved it. ❤️
Such a lovely interview about our Freddie and the kind hearted person he was❤️..God bless Peter and the interviewer for this piece❤️❤️🙏🙏
Wonderfully done. Noone could possibly understand living this life so intimately. Peter is selflessly honestly letting us get to know that part of Freddie. Bravo Peter!!💖💖💖💖

This is the best interview I have heard especially with the host asking the questions!!👍👍 Also it was confirming all I read in his book and in Jim’s book contrary to gossips out there speculating Jim’s & Peters relationship or Mary’s involvement or even Freddie’s character, relationships and routines!! Great Great job thank you for sharing!!👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👍
Fabulous, Lewis! I thought I'd heard all of the interviews with Peter Freestone. Thankfully, I looked closer. Great interview, thanks! Good job, it's actually better than many others.
thank you for being a loyal to freddie's life you have a good heart to him i am happy for you to taking care of him until his last breath.. 💖💖💖
The part in this interview about Peter Freestone arranging Freddie's funeral with Freddie's parents was heart breaking. He is right, no parent should have to bury their child.

Wonderful interview !
Thank you! And Phoebe has done him honour ever since.
You're a very good interviewer!
Peter, your voice speaks truth-it is obvious. Thank you. I recently, after the movie found Freddie and Queen ,besides as you put it,The We Are The Champions, etc at sports events. You clarified or brought to light so many questions I had, I have been fighting cancer,I must get some wrestling shoes! I am a lady who is absolutely intrigued, in love with your dear friend, Freddie who so sadly is deceased. You brought him to life and have calmed me from some ignorant people who are still trying for their 15 min of Fame, even if they must invent very mean things about your friend,Freddie Mercury. Thank you. To the interviewer, wow, you sound like you have been doing a lot of research. Your questions were ,so it seemed, questions you really cared to know. This was wonderful!! I have one thought or question...There would not have been a band named Queen that dared ,as Freddie did,to just go for it,all the dreams of who or what many could not or would not dare to do, to be Freddie Mercury, the true performer,thus.. Queen. Thank you both!
Just really found out, Queen went to Munich to avoid the taxman. The Stones did the same thing, except they came to America, where my older brother Danny worked sound and filmed CSBlues with them. It was pretty amazing having Lennon and Mick and all these amazing bands and artists like Dylan visit our home in the country right outside of NY City.#Danny Seymour, A Loud Song.
