  • The Great Rann of Kutch is a massive expanse of cracked earth, inland from the sea, that promises to take your breath away. Known as the ""White Desert of India"", the Great Rann of Kutch is a salt marsh in the Thar Desert in the Kutch District of Gujarat, India. The word ""Kutch"" is also written as Kachchh.
    ""Kutch"" is a greek word that means both wet and dry. The word represents the shallow wetland that gets submerged underwater during monsoon but remains dry for the rest of the year. The natural beauty as a result of this climate is what makes Kutch so beautiful. According to the epics and literature, Kutch was related to the Indus Valley civilization.
    The Rann of Kachchh is famous for its white salty desert sand and is reputed to be the largest salt desert in the world, the best time to visit the place is between October and February. Winters are the best time to visit Kutch. The temperature during these months is between 25 to 12 degrees celsius and making the weather perfect for sightseeing.
