i have been knooking since 6 months and i happy to see that you are making tutorials, sadly it's niche and unknown and very hard to find tutorial of knooking, I really hope you keep uploading knook videos
I will. Let's take knooking out of the niche and into the spotlight 🎉 I never thought so many would be interested, but after my previous video, I know they are. So I was looking for projects as well. Most of them out there are kinda old, not very fun. I have a book with knooking patterns from 15 years ago. Not one exciting project. So, I'm just creating my own and will happily share them 🤗
@@totally_fiercethank you for sharing. I tried this several years ago and gave up because there were no exciting projects and I don’t have your talent to make my own. You are a genius!!
Thanks for being fabulous! All yarn craft is new to me, and your videos are clear and fun, although I still watch them at 3/4 speed to pick up the skills.
Oh, thank you! 🤗 I'm happy youtube gives viewers the possibility to adapt the speed. Take all the time that you need. I usually don't care about the time it takes me to make things. When you do something you enjoy, the time is never really important. It's not a speed competition, it's pleasure ☺️
I saw this pop-up on my feed when I was on Instagram. You know I was all over this. I gave you the first like and yes, I’ve been wanting to make one of those. My. Knooks came in, and I have been wanting a pattern chewing of the bit. Thank you hugs
Aww, so that was perfect timing then! You'll love making one. I think it's a super cool piece for cold winter days. And I got a lot of jealous looks this week while wearing it when walking the dog. I want one in every color to match my outfits 🤣
Thank you so much 🤗 I wanted to make one for a while and thought, this would be perfect for knooking. It's easy and everyone can need one in winter. And yes, make one for your hubby. He'll love it. Jelly looks from others included 😉
That's awesome. And even more so knowing that so far you haven't crocheted or knitted yet! Amazing that you want to try it 🎉 I'd say knooking is definitely easier. You really only need 2 stitches to make endless beautiful things. Crochet and knitting are both very complex. Once you got your hooks and have started please tell me how it goes. And if you need help, you can always contact me 🤗
My knooking hooks were just delivered! I live in lower Alabama so I rarely have a need for a scarf or a hood/hat, but we're about to experience an arctic blast so I may just end up making one :D
What a coincidence 🎉 the idea of the knoodie was basically born from the arctic temps we have here. Scarves are good, hats are good, but now I have the all in one solution 🤣 have fun making one
Thank you for bringing this technique to RUclips! I am left handed and truly appreciate all of the videos that you have created for the left handed crafter. Will you be creating this video for the left handed, and is there a printable patten I can print and/or purchase?
Hi, you are very welcome. The lefty version of this video will be published on Monday 😉 always 1-2 days after the right-hand version (due to the algorithm). About the written pattern, I don't have one. I might write it down some time in the future, but not for now, sorry 🤗
You have a very calm voice that I enjoy listening to. Is it possible for you to make a balaclava hoodie hat tutorial with a crochet hook instead of a knock hook for you subscribers/fan? Thanks!!!
Aww, thank you, people always tell me that I'm a huuuuge guy with a calm mood. 😉 Funnily, this balaclava started as an idea to make it in crochet. And it would actually quite easy to use this pattern and make it in crochet as well. I'll think about it and make something for you 😉 can't promise when, but it's on my list now 🤗
Thanks for your quick response. I would make your crochet balaclava hoodie hat for my brother and nephew. This 2025 is the Year of the Snake. If you come up with a snake appliqué for a hat or a granny square that could be make into a top, would probably booster your subscribers...ruclips.net/video/MnPuo56X3GQ/видео.html
Thank you, that's another great idea. However, I'm going to be honest, creating something specific like this will definitely take a lot of time and some testing first. Not sure if it's still winter when finished. But let's see
You'll love making it. The hooks are called knooking hooks or just knook. They have an eye at the end to place a helper yarn in. It feels like crocheteting, but the fabric is knitted. I am currently working on a all crochet version of the balaclava for those who don't want to try knooking 😉🤗
No worries. Knooking popped up about 15 years ago. It was quite popular over here in Germany. But somehow, people forgot about it, including myself. There were no new patterns or project ideas for years. Until I had an idea for something. And here we are 😉 I'm happy to share this beautiful technique with everyone and can't wait to create more pieces with it
Yes and no. Knooking feels like crochet, but you get a knitted fabric. Tunisian crochet has a very specific texture due to the return pass. From most to least bulky, it would be: crochet > tunisian crochet > knooking/knitting
Hi I’m just getting started in crocheting this looks way to difficult to do do you sell these ready made? But I would have to have one made from 100% wool or cotton as am allergic to synthetic materials thank you 🤞👍
Hi, I'm sorry I don't sell my pieces or even take commissions. If the knooked balaclava is too difficult for you, I am currently working on the all crochet version. And then, of course, you can pick a yarn that works for you 😉
Hi, I haven't made a video for the blue pattern yet. But in the video, I say how to make it. Here it is again: You need to cast on a multiple of 4 + 2 stitches. R1: all knit stitches. R2: all purl stitches. R3: *2 knit stitches, 2 purl stitches*, repeat from * to * until the end of the row. It ends with 2 knit stitches. R4: *2 purl stitches, 2 knit stitches*, repeat from * to * until the end of the row. It ends with 2 purl stitches. Repeat R1 to R4 for as long as you want.
Nice. Something new and also very old. Can you wear yours like this ancient hoodie fashion? ... ruclips.net/video/_XvEK6d9hEM/видео.htmlsi=42K2MLNh3gTVUrf3

This is great Thomas!! You’re a great teacher!!🤗😊
Thank you, Heather! I really enjoy making these projects and tutorials. I could do this all day tbh 🤣
I've hooked over canvas using cloth and made a hot pad. Pioneers used this method, as well as using yarn. Which ever they had more of
Thanks for sharing! 🤗
I just got my knooks yesterday, so now I can start! Yeehaw!😂❤
Woohoo, I wish you so much fun with knooking 🎉🤗

I love your instructions

You look marvellous in the blue hoodie. Make one for Holli. A great tutorial thank you. Hugs for Holli.
Thank you, Neil 🤗 I absolutely love how the knoodie turned out. And it's really easy. I need more 🤣🙈
Big hugs for Norma 😘
Thanks for the tutorial. I will try it in pure knitting since I have no clue how to do what you did
Of course, do it the way you like. And it works exactly the same way with knitting 🤗
Just bought my first knooking needles because of you. I've never knit or crocheted before and knooking looks easier than both.
where did you bought it?

Jolie cette cagoule 🤩, j'aime beaucoup le point
Merci beaucoup 🤗 I love it too, moi je trouve ça très chic 😉
You’ve got me hooked!! I love this art. Please tell me where I can get hooks larger than 6mm. I would like to use chunky yarns that 6mm just won’t do.
Yaaay that's awesome. I just googled "knook 8mm" and got a bunch of links to order sets with 8mm and 10mm knooking hooks. Hope this helps? 🤗

Interesting! It seems Knooking is like Tunisian without the additional yarn that makes it bulkier than crochet?

Hi, I haven't made a video for the blue pattern yet. But in the video, I say how to make it. Here it is again:
You need to cast on a multiple of 4 + 2 stitches.

🤔 why is it not called critting or knocheting?
Good question, I don't even know who invented it. But critting sounds fun too
