Last question, I promise. I downloaded and printed the hoodola pattern when it was offered for free. I’ve written all over it and now can’t find the original pattern so I have a clean copy!
Hi Laura my daughter saw this pattern and it was a “mum can you do this please” however I’m really not used round needles well I’ve never used them for nearly 50years of knitting is it possible to make this on 2 needles please? The wool arrived today so I have all I need now. I’ve even bought round needles but 2 would be better. Thank you xxx
Could I use turkish cast on as due to arthritic fingers I find this cast on difficult ? I thought about it and decided to purchase on ravelry and take a risk ,pleased I did as I found another of your patterns ,3 FER. , has perfect fingerless mitts included .thanks for the generous discount too ,a lovely surprise at checkout 😊 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you for the pattern, and helpful starting instructions, Laura. Is that stitch pick-up (at mid-hood) to soften the point done that one time only, or every row?
For the last stitch of Judy’s magic cast on I always make a backwards thumb loop cast on so it anchors the last stitch and you don’t have to juggle a fiddly loose stitch.
This is super - thank you! And for the pattern, which I'm about to cast on. QQ: should the yarn tail be 6.5x the length of 10 stitches (+ a little extra) as only 65 stitches use the yarn tail and the other 65 use the working yarn?
Laura, I have a question about the sweater you're wearing in this tutorial. Is it your Vindur pattern? I really love the look of it. The colors are perfect together. But I'll wager you already knew that. LOL! Oh and I love the pattern and as always, your helpful tutorial videos!
I am completely flummoxed by picking up that last stitch in the first row. I've watched 15 times, done the cast on exactly as you did and simply cannot replicate the last stitch or find the "bump " that is so clear in the video. Feeling quite inept at the moment. I've purchased the pattern but cannot get past that stitch to really get started,.
Ah, just have a make it work moment somewhere in there to make that stitch... it really doesn't matter what it looks like as it will get buried in the tip!
Thank you so much for this pattern, Laura! It is quite generous of you for such a beautiful and unique pattern.
Thank you, love the constructions and you explain this so good in your video, thank you 😊
You are very welcome! 😊
Thank you for the freebie and tutorial. Happy Samhain!

Fantastic, clear tutorial. Thank you!
You are so welcome!!!
Fabulous tutorial ……can’t wait to cast it on now! 🎉🥳
Thanks! Can't wait to see your Hoodola!
Thank you for the free pattern and the tutorial 😊
Hi Laura, could you clarify when the picked up stitches are knitwise and when they are purlwise? Thanks!
Hi! If I don't say then they are knitwise!
@ I looked at the pattern and none say purlwise but it seems like your video had one. Maybe I misheard it?

Yes, you can definitely use the Turkish Cast On instead!
Thank you for the pattern, and helpful starting instructions, Laura. Is that stitch pick-up (at mid-hood) to soften the point done that one time only, or every row?
Just on that first set up row! Your stitch count doesn't change again until you get to the decrease section!

Oh, that's a cool tip! I will have to try it next time!

Oh, thank you!!! It is Gola, which is the DK weight version of Vindur!
