    Just a word of caution on the Fuji X-H2 because I want to love the camera and give it a proper chance. I've realized that I have made some errors in reporting back what I've experienced in my first impressions video. I should make sure that I test the camera in optimal conditions both for shutter speed and lighting, and using the compatible lenses from Fuji.

    I’ve done extensive real world testing in photography on the XH2S, XH2 and my own XT4. In the end, I went for the XH2 and have been shooting it professionally for the past week and a half in pre-wedding / Engagement shoots, family or solo portraits as well as performing arts / musical theatre productions. My findings are that the XH2S, though has the same resolution as the XT4, actually has worst image quality and more noise in high ISO / low light settings than the XT4. The noise in the XT4 is more pleasant than the XH2S (Maybe this is the drawback of a stacked sensor). While the XH2 does demonstrate more noise than both the XH2S and XT4 at ISO 3000 and higher, the noise pattern and quality is comparable to the XT4, which means nicer than the XH2S. I’ve been using my own 18mm F1.4, 33mm F1.4, 50mm F1 and 90mm F2 to test. In the real world situation, even in quite dark environment like the front and back stage of a theatre, I was able to shoot wide open, using IBIS, shutter speed of around 1/125, i was able to keep my ISO no more than ISO 2500. All shot in uncompressed RAW. Post production was done in Capture One 22. Images from the XH2 I was able to recover shadows and do a little de-noise, and the final images were still tack sharp with very minimal lost of details.
    Autofocus and tracking wise, I can’t really tell much of a difference between the XH2 and XH2S. XH2S does track a little stickier (the eye focusing rectangle is smoother on the XH2S). But both focuses really accurately and are miles ahead of the XT4. The shooting speed of the XH2S was insane!
    In the end though, as I don’t shoot video, sports or wildlife at all, I went for the XH2 knowing that the overall image quality, to me, is better than the XH2S, even in high ISO situations and a big upgrade from the XT4.
    Sorry about the rambling long post! I think you can’t go wrong with either one. Happy shooting!

      "More pleasant noise" ......... So "the extensive real world testing" is completely subjective? I like the XT-4 because the autofocus is nice and slow (and inconsistent) and that suits my type of photography.......

    • @ryanhoviolin
      @ryanhoviolin Год назад

      @@doghouseriley4732 well, I don’t know about you, but I managed to make the “unusable AF” according to you, on my XT4 just fine. Of course the testing is subjective! If you want a fool proof, idiot proof AF where you the shooter can just point and shoot and get 100% hit rate, go to Sony! But, even Sony A1 misses quite often, and don’t take my word for it, look at how many people sold off their A1 to go Canon R3 and Nikon Z9 precisely because it’s not as “perfect” as everyone thinks it is.

    • @berzoidberg3272
      @berzoidberg3272 Год назад

      @@ryanhoviolin anyone selling their a1 for a z9 is an idiot if the move is based on autofocus. Used both extensively. Nikon is way worse.
      That said, my a1 definitely has some significant focus issues. I think companies are still working out how to focus w/stacked sensors.

    Agree, I have the X-H2 and resolution is brilliant and I'm a sucker for Resolution so its great. low light performance is less then the X-H2s but still fine for my occasional stuff. Iso125 and a Triopod fixes most of my issues in low light though. Sports, is a different thing

    I couldn’t agree more. The XH2s has surprised me in that I have sold my Canon FF R6 system and EF lenses. The AF in low light is phenomenal and dynamic range is I think just as good as my previous R6. The only plus with the R6 was cleaner images at ISO 3200 and above which is something I can happily live with. The lighter weight optics definitely makes up for it.

      Have you tested one of the Fuji zoom lenses with the X-H2?
      Are they sharp enough in the corners at 40MP?
      Fuji doesn’t even recommend them (except the newer zooms)

    From my experience with XH2 APSC 40mp is its similar to G9 MFT 20mp settings I use for birding optimal below ISO1600 if you know how to tweak it the images are stunning you're right just don't expect it to be an R5

    Well, you have me second guessing my decision. I have the xh2 ordered. I am coming from a couple years using the x-t3. I shoot high-school sports with pretty good success even with the older af. I just focus single point to the chest - continous focus. However I am getting into senior portraits now with ocf and thought the extra megapixels would be nice. I do skin retouching and admittedly love to pixelpeep. I understand the low light advantages of the x-h2s, but even indoor basketball, I rarely shoot above iso 1000. Tough decision 😕

      I hear you! I'm actually shooting a 5K race locally on Saturday and will be using the X-H2s and the Xh2 so I'll be able to have some samples of sports photography. I should have that video by next week. I also ordered the 56 mm lens, the new version, so that I have a fast prime to use with the Xh2, so I'll be able to share what it's like when you're using one of the lenses off the compatibility list.

      I’m just going to be honest with you… from the description you gave it would make perfect sense to go with the X-H2s, but since you said you’ve had good results with your X-T3 then it appears that you could go either way.

    "You say you can't take the same size sensor and put more pixels in and get the same low light performance" - but the sensors are not the same sensor. One is stacked and one is BSI. So it really is not that straight forward.

    This is the second video I've seen on youtube, where the presenter is driving a car during the presentation. I have to wonder, is the presentation so superficial and short that it allows driving a car through traffic, or is the danger of driving a car through traffic ignored so much to allow a presentation. Well, at least the presenter is not yelling at the audience, or using baby-speak, as so many RUclipsrs do.
