After Woodstock entertained approx. 500,000 people in 1969, 4 years later there was the Watkins Glen "Summer Jam" in 1973 and more than 600,000 people were in attendance. The Grateful Dead, The Allman Brothers and The Band entertained the assembled group. I missed Woodstock, as I was only 14 years old when it was held but as an 18-year-old young man, I attended the Watkins Glen festival, and it was fantastic!
We need another Woodstock these days for sure for unity
Hell no, look what happen 1999 Woodstock. They burn the whole place down.
R.I.P. Campbell Hair. A young man from Glasgow Scotland who was part of the hogfarm east and helped build the stages and feed the people! He passed many years ago but being a Glaswegian myself, it blew my mind that a fellow Scot was part of this historical experience. He went on to work in the music business and toured with many of the greats including my hero's The Grateful Dead.
@Ted Ching your take is garbage
@Ted Ching Oh well...can't please everybody.
Wish I could have been there. Wasn't old enough. Woodstock is to me. A time to love each other and the earth. It's needed now more than ever
I have a piece of the stage now I got it today in mail. I got one of their necklaces made from the stage’s wood. I’m a big music and Woodstock fan. And a big history nerd. Great find and amazing technology today. 😊♥️🇺🇸☮️

Visited the museum at Bethel Woods a few years back & found it an interesting & emotional experience.
Then walked over to see ‘the field of dreams’ itself and was surprised to see how relatively small the site looked to be, as in the movie it looked enormous!
Was cool to just stand there & absorb the vibes of the place, & to recall what an amazing event the festival was!
They probably used a good wide angled lens in the movie.
My woodshed teacher (34 years ago), Joe Beyer, was part of building the stage. In the Woodstock movie he is wearing purple.
If you go to the site of the concert, the concrete stage footings are still there.
@Burr Anderson and what’s your point. It’s a historical place, I didn’t get ripped off because I have plenty of income and it was enjoyable for us. If you choose to be a miserable clown, good on you.
Bunch of drug addicted hippies.
@Burr Anderson who pooped in your frootloops?

Oh how I wish concerts were still like Woodstock...Oh how times have changed... I get by with a little help from my FRIENDS!!!!
Yeah, not enough toilet facilities, no food, no water, badly produced drug's, sound not good enough, yeah brilliant festival 😂🤣 only reason it's famous is because it was filmed.
The first Bonnaroo 2002 (and my first festival) was as close as it got in the modern day….then big money and agendas got involved….now look at it. A true grass roots gathering like Woodstock and to a lesser degree, bonnaroo, is dangerous to those jackasses who try to keep us divided..
@@glenndouglas8822 Lol. Go back to bed. They were all filmed.
@@tenebrae23 It was famous because it was big, and the trouble makers stayed away.
I was blessed to work stage security at Woodstock. I spent the best part of three days on those often soaking wet boards. It was one of the highlights of my life. Glad the stage has been found.
Bullshit
That’s so Awesome bro! I couldn’t even imagine. Wow!… Can you see yourself on the Documentary?✌️Cheers from Denver, Colorado 🍻

That story makes me Happy and Smile! Wow!!!
The stage should have been preseved in full and kept in a museum somewhere.... i suppose it all being plywood the event organizers didnt consider this at the time
But…why, though? Respectfully, I am truly asking.
Im a HUGE fan of places like the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame and the Hard Rock cafe gear displays etc. But this…? It’s plywood.
I think maybe people didn't think about that kind lf stuff back then. Look at all the vehicles that wasn't preserved
It should of stayed right where it was , I'd love to stand on that stage and look out over the field, just would be an awesome thing, but history always gets destroyed to a point.
@@glengamble526 the size was huge. It was also slapped together. How are you going to display it?
@@joewilshire7610 It was untreated plywood. Would you paint it? 10 years ad it would be some saw dust
So cool that you saved it but how sad that it’s being cut up and sold rather than kept together, as big as possible, for all to see somewhere.
People always trying to make a buck and their integrity goes out the door
I have to say, I would love for it to have be preserved and put in a museum, but since it wasn’t, I got a peace of the stage and I couldn’t be more grateful for it
If you look at the handball wall, you’ll set it was already cut up.
What would you do with a huge piece of wood for years and years to come I think it's fantastic that they're turning it into pieces of jewelry but then again I do agree that it is a piece of History
@@thatgardeninggirl2864 It could have been saved and displayed at the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, for example.

I like that good one
Incredible story!! What goes around, comes around!
I was a teen in 1969 living on the west coast and Woodstock certainly made headlines but it's significance has also very much grown over the years starting with the eventual release of the movie since then being kept alive by RUclips. The idea that pieces of the stage were worth keeping for posterity would have been been laughed at back then.
FANTASTIC!!! GREETZ FROM AMSTERDAM........❤
Wow. I was only 11 wben Woodstock was on. . I recently moved to NJ and was able to stop and see where Woodstock. was. So cool to to just see it. iIt was a Saturday getting kinda late afternoon in Late October . So many people still there visiting. I hope to go back when weather gets warmer and visit the museum and see more.
Thank you vlad this was a stellar listen.. stay safe and take care everyone
Just to set the record straight not everyone was "equal", there was a huge backstage area that was off limits and controlled by security. The following passes were issued...Press Pass, Staff Pass, Performer Pass, and Guest Pass.
Thanks for the info, where you there?
🙄
Wow the people working had to be distinguished from the people who were partying, what a crazy concept
I noted that, but no big deal.
Absolutely Awesomeness!!!
A piece of the Stage of Peace. : )
Cool story. Here I am at the monument, some 45 or so years later. -Al fm NJ
I have four jellybeans they were on the stage when the Beatles played in Shea Stadium,. my uncle worked for a company that erected the stage beetles performed on. When they took the stage apart , My uncle picked up a few of the jellybeans as souvenirs. Now I have them .. he kept them in an old aluminum 35 mm film can with a label on it,.
not even close to where woodstock is... wtf
Oh my Gawd!!!! Thank goodness they found it! I was getting very, very worried about that plywood.
Now you can rest peacefully
Brilliant find, thanks, and God Bless🙏🏻
Incredible story!!!!!☮️
10 years ago I was at the Monterey Pop festival site, no one was around, I got up on the stage and at the front edge of the stage I pulled off a small sliver of wood,
I never did see any supposed "burn spot" where Hendrix burned his guitar though
Woodstock - the greatest concert ever, and nothing will ever come close to the history that created.
It was an epic failure on every front. It only made money because of the movie. Jerry Garcia said it was the Dead’s worst show ever and he was getting electricity shocks every time he touched his guitar strings.
Roads got clogged and created a safety hazard and it frigging rained heavily that weekend. Acts almost never took the stage on time and the story of Hendrix playing the anthem story has been twisted.
Please stop romancing mediocrity…at best.
@@chrisconley8583 Damn! You must have taken the brown acid

Our family used to spend the summers at the Pines Hotel in S. Fallsburg. Both Woodbourne (the location of the bungalow colony) and Bethel (the location of the festival) are nearby. I’m pretty skeptical by nature, but everything in this story seems to check out. It’s an amazing find, and a unique opportunity for those of us who couldn’t attend the show (I was three).
It really is an amazing story, and the fact that the paddleball court was still standing after all these years is nothing short of a miracle! We are so happy to be able to share this Peace of music history with those who have the deepest connection to the festival. Thanks for your support, and continue to spread the peace and love.
Let’s bring all the pieces back together and reassemble like a huge jigsaw puzzle

AWESOME!!! PEACE!
I have to say that while it may be pieces of the performance stage floor it can also be from the stage access bridge which had similar painted walls on it, the unpainted sheets were used in many areas : on the tower platforms, walls in the artist compound barricades etc etc. The section that was painted on main stage was a strip about 2 feet wide across the centerline of the turntable where the two halves were connected together. The piece that RIchie Havens backing guitarist Paul Williams is sitting on was 2 fully painted sheets that were a 'test' to see what a painted stage floor would look like etc . The stage was far from completed and there was no time to paint anything as designed. This info is directly from my colleague Chip Monck btw.
I worked stage security at Woodstock. Chip was an amazing, calming influence and a sensational master of ceremonies.. Glad he is still alive. Send him my best.
Beautiful ☮️👍
Very cool!!
Fantastic.
Amazing!
Reminds me of when people used to sell "pieces of Christ's cross". How do we know each pendant for sure contains a piece of the actual stage?
There is a woodworker in West Virginia who has a piece of the stage he has now made into shavings and will put a small piece in his relics to sell with certificate of authenticity! He knows this guy in this video! Crazy what a small world after watching this I had to go order from Cut N Create Woodsmithing. My peace dove is currently being made!

I’m surprised Fender Custom Shop haven’t yet bought some of the stage to construct a commemorative Stratocaster and Telecaster, similar to the “ Hollywood Bowl benches “ Guitars.
Among other reasons, it's because the benches were likely hardwood (useful for guitars) whereas plywood is typically soft wood (not useful). Not to mention it's been sitting outside for 50 years.

no, it would be too powerful. like the pick of destiny....
Cause the name "Woodstock" has been bought and used now as a corporation. Seems insane considering how counter-cultural the actual concert was.
A counter-culture concert organised by capitalist Michael Lang, who successfully disguised himself as a hippy.
Saw nothing to convince me this is the wood from Woodstock. lining up some knot holes would help. Plywood exposed 50 years like this was to harsh winters would be toast.
The purple and green paint it showed. The plywood was covered by another sheet.

One thing you don't hear often is yeah it was free, after they broke down the fences and forced their way in and the organizers had no choice. Those guys invested everything they had, you know for them it was about making a profit, and there's nothing wrong with that. They lost their asses on this one, the only thing that saved them was the film that turned out to be a hit. Woodstock was never supposed to be a free festival.
I think everybody knows that to be honest. Think you would have to live on the moon to not know it. It's even explained it the documentary.
@@glenndouglas8822 I seriously doubt that, in fact I've met no less than two people that didn't know that, so I edified them with several pie charts explaining it all. The More You Know! Seriously though, you never know what people are aware of. I just saw a comment yesterday on a video of The Who at Woodstock and the guy said no one even remembers that they were there. I just had to laugh at that one. No one remembers the Who's legendary performance at Woodstock, REALLY? OK if you say so.
the Soundtrack Album made more money than the Film

How many years can they continue to sell this stage wood? Apparently forever.
THAT NEEDS TO BE IN A MUSEUM!! in one piece. Behind glass, at least. How are we going to reproduce archival footage in the future without preserving these. People wiping their hands on it, is further ruining the pieces. It's almost too late, and it's all because of money.

Roman was very popular name in Poland then, he probably was Pole.
My father was one of the local carpenters hired to help construct the stage. He is 83 now, but still remembers the job very well. I was 8 at the time and remember all of the activity during those days. I will ask my Dad about Roman and the guy that got run over and show him this video to see the stage pieces again.
