Yeah. I believe this epic and mellow sound was the ultimate vision, at least musically, that Syd Barrett in at least 1967 had in mind for Pink Floyd. However at that time he was frustrated in being unable to help Pink Floyd realise that vision with him. Sadly by time the Floyd had finally realised Syd's vision completely in 1975 they soon threw it away through their bitter fallouts which combined with their marital and other personal issues left the band a twilight shadow of their former glory by 1987-1994.
Ive been listening to this whole night, repeatedly, staying awake and on mushroom/alco/hero combo and I think I got post-Barrett Floyd tiny bit right. Both David and Roger tried to pursue Syd's madness, in their own way. David - musical, Roger - lyrical. Both failed, but also captured This is why Division Belll sounds a lot like The Wall. David openly hates Roger, but down in his soul he admits Roger in his lyrical madness captured bit of Syd Roger openly hates David, but he puts Gilmour-like guitar solos on all his subsequent post-Floyd recordings, because he silently admits David is Barret's post-Floyd as much as he is Its almost perfect philosophical love-hate relationship
@@elitesennabubbleOh, but it does. Heavy-hitter percussion, pomposity. Division resembles Wall even more than it resembles Darkside. I think David respects Roger as much as Roger respects David, this is why he put out an album so similar in nature to Wall. Regards (MT).

Esta temprana versión es fantástica!! Tengo el CD doble de edición Italiana llamada" Black holes in the sky" con el concierto completo del "winter tour 1974" grabado en Wembley.
The remarkable thing about these early versions of "Dogs", is that even though "Dogs", is a writing collaboration between Waters and Gilmour only, the whole of Pink Floyd sounds just as solid and in their element here as on their earlier whole band epics like "A Saucerful Of Secrets" title track, "Careful With That Axe, Eugene", "Atom Heart Mother" title track and "Echoes" even as things began to fall apart offstage post-Dark Side.
As far as I know David came up with the riff and then they worked it out all together. In the end the writing credits were given to Dave and Roger in the final album version. Just listen to what Rick adds here to the sound. I'm sure he wasn't told to do exactly all of that by Roger or Dave ;)
@@Goldhand28 In my opinion these 1974 versions of "You've Gotta Be Crazy/Dogs" along with the live 1975 versions are my favorites. The 1974 live versions of this epic have the classic watery Farfisa Organ parts from Rick and the melancholy guitar from David. At least at the 1974 Wembley gigs, the slow middle section of "You've Gotta Be Crazy"/"Dogs" had a pastoral feel recalling the lovely atmospheric "A Saucerful Of Secrets", "More", "Ummagumma", "Atom Heart Mother", "Zabriskie Point", and "Meddle" and the pastoral parts of "Careful With That Axe Eugene" and "Piper At The Gates Of Dawn" with the watery Farfisa Organ and David Gilmour's soothing vocal chords. One of the last ever times that pastoral sound was used in Pink Floyd music. Its always lovely. I miss it. Its a shame the twilight Pink Floyd of 1986-1994 never took the opportunity to revisit "You've Gotta Be Crazy/Dogs" in their last tours, especially this arrangement.
@@Craigevansagain yeah you can hear the transition from DSOTM to WYWH here already. More mellow soundscapes and less aggressive guitar sounds than a Time or Money solo for example. Obviously the Animals album version sounds alot more rough and angry again. It is a shame really ... I would have thought that they would maybe play Dogs as Gilmour co-wrote it but the post Waters Floyd or Dav Solo never played it :(
@@Goldhand28 Near the end of Gilmour's 2001 "Meltdown Festival Concert", a fan requested, "Can we have something from 'Animals' please?" but Gilmour just quipped, "We'll be here 'till gone turf out time if we did that!" Yet again, that's surprising as the mellower 1974-1975 live arrangements of "Dogs" would have worked very well with a semi-acoustic concert setup as seen in the "Meltdown" versions of "High Hopes" and "Comfortably Numb".
I believe this epic and mellow sound was the ultimate vision, at least musically, that Syd Barrett in at least 1967 had in mind for Pink Floyd. "And when you loose control you'll reap the harvest you have sown And as the fear grows the bad blood slows and turns to stone And it's too late to lose the weight you used to need to throw around So have a good drown as you go down all alone Dragged down by the stone"
During the first nine months of 2019, I did an amazing ton of DMT, like several times a day sometimes for days and weeks at a stretch. Certain things give me little “flashbacks,” and listening to this for the first time it just happened
I can't help but feel that this version had more input from Rick Wright than the one that ended up on "Animals". Floyd's music felt harsher once Wright's influence declined. While musically it's nice that the key is a tone higher (Em instead of Dm) that, as well as the way thr lyrics were written, made the song very hard to sing (it's a strain for them to hit the high notes) although Gilmour does surprisingly well.
"Wright's influence declined" He lost interest. E.g. Dave worked hard on those Wall band demos and Rick not so much. That's part of the reason Roger, Dave, and Nick fired him. If he hadn't wanted producer's money to not really produce much on The Wall he might have stayed, but that was adding insult to injury.
@@thebrazilianatlantis165 You are endeavouring to correct me, are you? But even supposing you are completely correct about what happened during The Wall sessions, that does not actually negate my point (what are you ostensibly responding to) in the least. Love it, both Dogs and it's origins, particularly the end my god!
A beautiful vocal arrangement by the lads. Well played.
So good to my ears!!! Animals is my favorite album and i haved listen it probably a thousand time so it's really nice to hear the roots. I'm going to by this box set asap instead of the price...Pink Floyd... Priceless!
Just a pure live raw stunning guitar work piece, pure magic.
Essa versão é maravilhosa, caramba!!!!!! Que coisa linda!
This puppy grew up to be one viscous dog!
I saw Gilmour live apr 8 2016 at United Center Chicago, was sooooo intense! no empty seats 20 thousand ppl 3 hours long, hope he comes back before the great gig in the sky
Love the strumming and guitar tone on this version
I can listen to both versions back to back and still enjoy it, both have merits
I actually marginally prefer this version with Davids vocal performance and the mix on the bass
1975 Richard Wright at his finest… Pink Floyd at its finest
Better than the studio version.
Igual que Raving and Drooling
My favorite version of it.
So much drive and even some funkiness to it.
Not as gritty as the studio version but more symphonic.
Ive been listening to this whole night, repeatedly, staying awake and on mushroom/alco/hero combo and I think I got post-Barrett Floyd tiny bit right.
Both David and Roger tried to pursue Syd's madness, in their own way. David - musical, Roger - lyrical. Both failed, but also captured
This is why Division Belll sounds a lot like The Wall. David openly hates Roger, but down in his soul he admits Roger in his lyrical madness captured bit of Syd
Roger openly hates David, but he puts Gilmour-like guitar solos on all his subsequent post-Floyd recordings, because he silently admits David is Barret's post-Floyd as much as he is
Its almost perfect philosophical love-hate relationship
agreed except I don't think The Division Bell sounds anything like The Wall
@@elitesennabubbleOh, but it does. Heavy-hitter percussion, pomposity. Division resembles Wall even more than it resembles Darkside.
I think David respects Roger as much as Roger respects David, this is why he put out an album so similar in nature to Wall.
Regards (MT).
I’m just loving this great song and all the different versions. Brings great joy to my life in 2021. 2020 was crazy and looks like a crazy start to 2021. Playing this song takes away the harsh reality of the dire times.
How was it bad
U got to sit around all day relax go out fishing walk keep fit enjoy exsisting
@@russell9378 It was _soooo_ bad people were convinced to take an experimental vaccine for a donut.
I know it has nothing to do, but never forget Syd. =)
intothevoid , I would never forget Syd! At the age of 59 I have recently got into his two solo albums!

God I love this song and Dogs too Thank you Pink Floyd, my favorite band of all time.
I can understand why he said he had trouble preforming this song now. Christ at such a fast speed and this many words it's a pain to do.
Agreed!
The guy that disliked this video gotta be crazy!!!
Make that 40 idiots now
Wow!! that was Beautiful!!! I wish they showed the filming of the concert... Gilmour and his guitar just make me melt!!!! #lovemyfloyd
It's absolutely unbelivable how you realize the transformation that it suffered! Amazing see that this song became a masterpiece (Dogs).
per me che la ascoltai all'epoca dell'uscita di Raving and Drooling rimane la migliore. Quando uscì Animals rimasi deluso....
esta version es demasiado hermosa, me siento afortunado de poder escucharla todas las veces que quiera, el final de esta cancion es muy conmovedor, de lo mejor que he escuchado
This song is perfect !!
Thanks. Great quality recording.
Fantastico! La loro miglior canzone e io le ho sentite quasi tutte!!
Best moments of the floyds like the live in Pompeii.
AND WHEN YOU LOSE CONTROL
no es fácil desechar una gran canción como esta para ajustarla a un álbum conceptual y mejorarla, simplemente los mejores de la historia....
Simply delicious!! Good old Pink Floyd
6:45 is SO good
Fantastic... i love pink floyd
that bass is so smooth
The bass sounds great.there are some haters out there saying waters can’t play bass.pendejos.
amazing......i was only a few months old when this was recorded live to stereo multitrack.
It is new, old Floyd!
We not alone in this space! this music comes from gods listen....
3 CHORD DRUGGIES OWN YOU, CUPCAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU GO GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MAMMA MIA...LOST FOR WORDS
great lyrics...great chords...great song.
I like Dogs, but I LOVE You've Got To Be Crazy
This working piece, being played live and even still, not to appear studio released until 1977 is in and of itself quite remarkable...
Can't wait for this to be on vinyl
I love Pink Floyd, I really do.
3 CHORD DRUGGIES ARE ALWAYS ADORABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU GO GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is just freakin amazing.I am waiting for my box set to arrive. I will not be opening it until Christmas time since it is a present. This soundboard audio beats the heck out of the audience recorded piece of crap that was floating around.Don't get me wrong the band did a good job of performing.
Great quality thanks for sharing, I remember hearing this long ago but the quality was not so great:
"Work like f**k 'till you're sixty five
And then your time's your own until you die"
true bro, you can't do shit when you're 65. i mean not those things you could do when you're like 16 or 18, they don't care about the life of people, i think we're just puppets for them. work puppets
I gotta say great music and great Pink Floyd
I love the people sceaming more at the end
DOgs (song) Begin... Early Version, It so Great Tanks for all
8:00-9:20 amazing sound
15:35 is HEAVENNN!
This is perfect, honestly
I kinda like this version more than the final one that's on the album. It Has more variations in atmosphereand tone.
Esta temprana versión es fantástica!! Tengo el CD doble de edición Italiana llamada" Black holes in the sky" con el concierto completo del "winter tour 1974" grabado en Wembley.
Their voices echoing in harmony at 8:40 OMG.
This is Amazing!!!
Millones de gracias, esta cancion es la quinta esencia de Pink Floyd. Me encanta y para remate tenemos la letra. Te mereces un diez

However at that time he was frustrated in being unable to help Pink Floyd realise that vision with him. Sadly by time the Floyd had finally realised Syd's vision completely in 1975 they soon threw it away through their bitter fallouts which combined with their marital and other personal issues and Roger Waters leaving, left the band a twilight shadow of their former glory by 1987-1994.
thank you
a wish many more soundboard recordings of this era were avalible in this Q
"And when you loose control you'll reap the harvest you have sown
And as the fear grows the bad blood slows and turns to stone
And it's too late to lose the weight you used to need to throw around
So have a good drown as you go down all alone
Dragged down by the stone"
This was the best thing that ever happened to me
During the first nine months of 2019, I did an amazing ton of DMT, like several times a day sometimes for days and weeks at a stretch.
For one thing, I am not even talking about The Wall. Did you just happen not to notice that minor detail?
@@amtlpaul "are you?" No, I'm explaining why Wright's influence declined.
Will Brazil and Montreal ever bury the hatchet in this legendary Floyd fued? let's watch...
