Every time I hear this song, it reminds me of my best friend who I lost to cancer. He introduced me to Pink Floyd, and I thank him every day for it. Miss you, Gene, and I wish you were here.
It's amazing at how great he still sounds. Every note, every bit of the timing of the vocals, the deep meaning this song has. It has a special meaning to every soul it touches. It reminds me of my dad. He died when I was very young at 14 yrs old in 1976. I wish he was here. I didn't fail, dad. I did well. I'm 63 now. Wish you were here. My twin girls never got to meet you. You'd love them.
This always makes me think of my best friend. He passed away just shy of his 33rd birthday from a heart attack. He would have been 61 now, and I still miss him.
Wish I were there. Imagine, if you will, every human being on planet Earth simultaneously listening to David play. It'd be a better world. For that time.
I'm crying, you're crying, shut up, we're all crying; I'll never not feel a tremendous yearning, a longing, a sense of loss, a depth of feeling unable to express in words, whenever I hear this song...
Stayed with my walk-on part in the wars. Never regretted it. Never fold to THEM. Live YOUR authentic life. A few folks I wish were here, just gonna have to manage. That's life. Peace, love, and balance, Dave
Which ones Pink? What a long circuitous journey my life has been. I met this music as a 12 year old on AM radio. I was smitten. Many of these songs traveled with me on this journey. As I navigated through life, love, pain, loss, sorrow and joy. I have always found peace and calm in these songs. If not the words, definitely the melodies. After all I am not frightened of dying, you know, any time will do, I don't mind.
My best friend murdered 1994 James Ashley. Never said a cross word about anybody . Always willing to help. Just was enjoying life with his wife, best friend June. Well this song always brings it back
Sorry but it was " Shine on You Crazy Diamond" that was a 9 part tribute to Syd. Wish You Were Here was about the music industry bs. I saw them live in Motreal in 1975. They opened with some songs from Wish you were here and after intermission the entire Dark Side of The Moon. Still the best show I have seen.
K, so his voice isn't what it used to be . . . but does anyone really think that even 1/100th of today's pop/rock stars will still be touring and relevant upwards of 60 years from now? Hell no. I'm trying so hard to teach my teenage boys about the difference between a catchy tune (which has merit), and true storytellers, and artists who spend decades learning how to play their instruments (sometimes many) to create timeless music. And the difference between writing meaningful lyrics and arranging songs vs. writing pointless drivel and relying on computer programming to make the background sounds :(
To the inimitable Big Al Granby. Your kids, your Ex, your MIL all welcome you to heaven good sir. Those of us left behind mourn you. But know you were loved.
When you all remember someone special in your lives that isn't your other half and is now missing ............ ironic that I write that about my parents and Evo - they all disliked PF immensley!
To the uploader it surely was - just as I cried the whole way through the first set in Rome haha But the title... I'll forgive the click bait but just because it's a video of Gilmour
Definitely!! Click bait aside, I think we can all agree that Gilmour’s guitar skills are worth a few tears and a little title drama! Thanks for watching.
That is correct. But if you have never seen it, then go. For $440 a seat I will pass. I was lucky enough to have seen him several times. But if you have not seen him live, then go.
Long after he’s gone, Gilmour’s voice will continue to resonate in my mind and heart. What a gift to us all.
Every time I hear this song, it reminds me of my best friend who I lost to cancer. He introduced me to Pink Floyd, and I thank him every day for it. Miss you, Gene, and I wish you were here.
What a lovey thing to say!
I just got back from my sons grave. It’s the 16th anniversary of his passing. Jimmy, I know you are here right now! I miss you.❤
Sorry about your son. Music helps for sure.
It’s been 7 years since my son died in an automobile accident. It has been hard for me to listen to this song ever since.
I’m so sorry

i feel you. take care! ❤
Time travel is possible. Music takes us to those places we long to be. Back to those we have lost. I miss my father and "I wish you were here" papa.
Wish I were there. Imagine, if you will, every human being on planet Earth simultaneously listening to David play. It'd be a better world. For that time.
The greatness of two acoustic guitars communicating with each other… pure greatness. Thank you David for decades of joy.
One of the greatest songs of any band, EVER!
My absolute favorite song of all time. Thinking of you Mom, Dad, and Brother Jimmy! Wish You Were Here! RIP my family!
Never gets old David ❤❤❤❤
Played this song many times on stage, but my brother Mike never got to hear me play. Love you bro, Wish you were here. R.I.P. MSW
This song always brings tears to my eyes. RIP, Syd.
I'm crying, you're crying, shut up, we're all crying; I'll never not feel a tremendous yearning, a longing, a sense of loss, a depth of feeling unable to express in words, whenever I hear this song...
Very touching to hear Mr. Gilmour play this song now! I love this man.
The start of my guitar playing and still another boost of energy god bless Dave and all that sail with him 🇬🇧🇬🇧🙌❤️
Perfection. No other words can describe that intro

A timeless Floyd classic. The gift that just keeps on giving. Thanks Dave :)
I love this song so very much❤

A fine performance. More than worthy of the seven words it takes to satisfy the algorithm.
Гилмор бэндит даже на акустике🤘
I was guna av this at me funeral, favourite tune ever, but I didn't die in the end 👍
What lol
I’m about to drop a bag and go completely out of my comfort zone traveling solo to a state I’ve never been to before to see this man.
Can't wait for the 29th to come sooner 🍄🍄
🤗
Honestly about to do the same thing for the New York show
I think it's definitely worth it, I hope you do it, I'm rooting for you!
@@b4lysh3v23 I did it 🎉🎉 this is a bucket list thing for me and always been a dream to see him play comfortably numb live.
Dave you are such a great Musician. Thanks for all these fantastic and outstanding Songs!!!
I dont get star stuck much, but I think if I could meet a celebrity, it would be him.

My best friend murdered 1994 James Ashley. Never said a cross word about anybody . Always willing to help. Just was enjoying life with his wife, best friend June. Well this song always brings it back
Sorry to hear that, really tough, you honor him by your comment, RIP
He sounds great
My Music Dad❤
Wish you were here we’re just two lost souls ⚰️✅ miss you siya
El mejor tema de David Gilmour por lejos, poesia, reflexión y un terrible solo de guitarra!!.
In high school,I had a friend die by falling from a bridge. We played this song at our prom. Always make me think of him. RIP Jimmy
Thank you for sharing your heartfelt memory with us. It’s truly touching to see how songs can help us remember those we've lost.
Long live Syd barret
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This was Pink Floyd...
How I wish, how I wish Roger was here
And Rick...
Sid ya está presente😊@@annettereynolds7457
RIP Syd, gone but not forgotten … :’(
Two goldfish swimming in a bowl year after year THATS US

RIP Avery Thomas Haygood
Wow.
Are those J-200s? They sound like it.

Those are great seats!! Rich motha fucka !!!!
The ending chord was a nice surprise.
Didn’t catch it the first time.. fantastic sound that was
wat?
Will this be his last tour? 🥺
Wish you all were, but some of you are out of time!
Love it but the guy in backing vocals was an octave too high.
When you all remember someone special in your lives that isn't your other half and is now missing ............ ironic that I write that about my parents and Evo - they all disliked PF immensley!
Sorry, a bit frustrating without the electric guitar and the erratic video framing. Still good to hear and see nonetheless but not what I expected.
Ok😂
the song was great! but next time try to get better seats please ;)
HAHA, yeah, those seats were a bit of a bummer. I’ll try to snag some better ones next time! What a memorable show though!!
@@GuitarGodsUnleashedI think this is his last go round.
@@strothermartin5368 Unfortunately, I have to agree with you
There’s only one time to sing along, when the artist asks you to. What the hell people? Why is this becoming normal?
Shame his voice is shot.
Nah. Your hearing sucks.
What is there really left to say?
still reminds me of my ex girlfriend
Without Roger, this doesn't really work. Live 8 was the true live version of this song...
How was this EMOTIONAL?
To the uploader it surely was - just as I cried the whole way through the first set in Rome haha

completely forgettable bacause you recorded it from a phone. please, for god's sake
Dreadful video. Poor sound and the backs of audience heads.
Poor guy. He can hardly hit a note.
What's your legacy in life my friend? Will anyone remember you?
Better than auto tune or backing tracks. It is Live humans performing music.
I am sure he'll be heartbroken in reading your opinion. Find a rope and hang yourself, you'd do the world a favour.
Wtf are you talking about??!! He sounds FANTASTIC!! Just as he did the night I saw him on the 4th at MSG!! ❤
It is no more or less emotional than the way he has played it a thousand times over since 87.
That is correct. But if you have never seen it, then go. For $440 a seat I will pass. I was lucky enough to have seen him several times. But if you have not seen him live, then go.
