It's amazing at how great he still sounds. Every note, every bit of the timing of the vocals, the deep meaning this song has. It has a special meaning to every soul it touches. It reminds me of my dad. He died when I was very young at 14 yrs old in 1976. I wish he was here. I didn't fail, dad. I did well. I'm 63 now. Wish you were here. My twin girls never got to meet you. You'd love them.
cap6159 Thank you for sharing your feelings... I think of my father too...this is HIS song, not only because I wish he was here, but also because of its meaning: my dad wouldn't have traded "a walk-on part in the war for a lead role in a cage", never! and that's one of the unwavering principles he taught me.
Every time I hear this song, it reminds me of my best friend who I lost to cancer. He introduced me to Pink Floyd, and I thank him every day for it. Miss you, Gene, and I wish you were here.
@rogersmith2617 Same. I lost my best friend of 40 years to ALS 2 years ago, and while the crowd was standing and singing along, I had tears thinking of him and others lost throughout the years, and it was ca thartic and real, and they were there with me in all the ways that matter. It was a beautiful thing.
Dieser Song begleitet mich fast das ganze Leben. Wir sind zwar alle älter geworden, aber David und "wish you where here" haben nichts von ihrem Glanz verloren. Dankeschön David ❤
This always makes me think of my best friend. He passed away just shy of his 33rd birthday from a heart attack. He would have been 61 now, and I still miss him.
I can't listen to David sing this song without tears rolling down my face. I've seen him sing this song live in 77, 87,88,and twice in 94.. it hurts to think that I may never get that chance again.
I was born after 94. My generation is lucky David Gilmour is still going. Found his music in a hard time in my life. I understand the heartache, because I understand the love. Wish Id taken the chance to see him live.
I think this song saved me from myself and my thoughts a few times over the years. It was the most instrumental moments during a lengthy incarnation when I received the lyrics written in a letter from my wife. I will always be grateful 🙏
I was luckiest to see them. It was pouring down rain and they said if we were crazy enough to stand in the rain they were crazy enough to play. They only covered up the organ. I still remember the rain shooting off the frets of his guitar they played for three hours. Best concert of my life.
Wish I were there. Imagine, if you will, every human being on planet Earth simultaneously listening to David play. It'd be a better world. For that time.
My dad passed when my our was 1 year old. He turned 18 a couple of months ago. Wished you were here to see him become a man, thoughtful, kind, and caring just like you. Not a single day goes by without me thinking of you. I know you're up in the big sky watching over us....
Which ones Pink? What a long circuitous journey my life has been. I met this music as a 12 year old on AM radio. I was smitten. Many of these songs traveled with me on this journey. As I navigated through life, love, pain, loss, sorrow and joy. I have always found peace and calm in these songs. If not the words, definitely the melodies. After all I am not frightened of dying, you know, any time will do, I don't mind.
Kudos to the cameraman on this one. Really nicely captured. I always wonder about why some artists insist on no cameras in the crowds so that the fans can "be there in the moment." Well, a big thank you to David Gilmour for not being one of those artists. Capturing this performance gives all of us a chance to be there in the moment.
Last year on December 27th, i had to go find one of my best friends, dead on the bathroom floor, pneumonia got him😢. Wish you were here Rick, we all miss you so much!
Stayed with my walk-on part in the wars. Never regretted it. Never fold to THEM. Live YOUR authentic life. A few folks I wish were here, just gonna have to manage. That's life. Peace, love, and balance, Dave
I'm crying, you're crying, shut up, we're all crying; I'll never not feel a tremendous yearning, a longing, a sense of loss, a depth of feeling unable to express in words, whenever I hear this song...
1977 I saw Pink Floyd play Wish you were Here and Animals at Bingley Hall, Stafford. Bowie same venue a year later. Was there ever a better era for fantastic music? Not for me.
My best friend murdered 1994 James Ashley. Never said a cross word about anybody . Always willing to help. Just was enjoying life with his wife, best friend June. Well this song always brings it back
I played this at my mom's funeral but my aunt didn't want me to play it so I said she was only ur sister and I played it anyway and she hasn't talked to me since that was in May 2024
Sorry but it was " Shine on You Crazy Diamond" that was a 9 part tribute to Syd. Wish You Were Here was about the music industry bs. I saw them live in Motreal in 1975. They opened with some songs from Wish you were here and after intermission the entire Dark Side of The Moon. Still the best show I have seen.
K, so his voice isn't what it used to be . . . but does anyone really think that even 1/100th of today's pop/rock stars will still be touring and relevant upwards of 60 years from now? Hell no. I'm trying so hard to teach my teenage boys about the difference between a catchy tune (which has merit), and true storytellers, and artists who spend decades learning how to play their instruments (sometimes many) to create timeless music. And the difference between writing meaningful lyrics and arranging songs vs. writing pointless drivel and relying on computer programming to make the background sounds :(
To the inimitable Big Al Granby. Your kids, your Ex, your MIL all welcome you to heaven good sir. Those of us left behind mourn you. But know you were loved.
When you all remember someone special in your lives that isn't your other half and is now missing ............ ironic that I write that about my parents and Evo - they all disliked PF immensley!
Long after he’s gone, Gilmour’s voice will continue to resonate in my mind and heart. What a gift to us all.
Assuming you outlive him... Life is fickle... Cheers.

I just got back from my sons grave. It’s the 16th anniversary of his passing. Jimmy, I know you are here right now! I miss you.❤
Sorry about your son. Music helps for sure.
It’s been 7 years since my son died in an automobile accident. It has been hard for me to listen to this song ever since.
I’m so sorry
My son December 13th 2007. Yep still hurts and music helps.
Memories are precious ❤

i feel you. take care! ❤
Enjoy d memories he's always with u and like u this song affects me so many good friends gone
The greatness of two acoustic guitars communicating with each other… pure greatness. Thank you David for decades of joy.
The words of this epic song are by Roger Waters, the bass, player,as we're most of the songs.
I can't listen to David sing this song without tears rolling down my face. I've seen him sing this song live in 77, 87,88,and twice in 94.. it hurts to think that I may never get that chance again.

Timeless magic.
My absolute favorite song of all time. Thinking of you Mom, Dad, and Brother Jimmy! Wish You Were Here! RIP my family!
No 😢😢
This is one of the songs that touches so many souls, generation after generation. Shine on Syd and Rick.
Never gets old no matter how many times I hear it.
A good friend of mine passed away, and we received the news today. Frank, we dedicated this song to you !!! Rest in peace ✌️🎸🎶🙏
💔💔🙏🙏 Truly
Im sorry
I'm so sorry for your loss. May Franks memory live forever!!
may frank rest in peace ! am sure he never changed!
I'm so sorry for your loss.. I too lost a dear friend several months ago.
Never gets old David ❤❤❤❤
Time travel is possible. Music takes us to those places we long to be. Back to those we have lost. I miss my father and "I wish you were here" papa.
I’m going to play this song at my son’s celebration of life, my god what a beautiful song!
Played this song many times on stage, but my brother Mike never got to hear me play. Love you bro, Wish you were here. R.I.P. MSW
This song always brings tears to my eyes. RIP, Syd.

John, your remembered experience is the kind of thing all of us old timers relished. Thanks for your memory of that event.
Wish I were there. Imagine, if you will, every human being on planet Earth simultaneously listening to David play. It'd be a better world. For that time.
The start of my guitar playing and still another boost of energy god bless Dave and all that sail with him 🇬🇧🇬🇧🙌❤️
Bless that mans heart. Give up so much to bring us a profound joy all these years.
Very touching to hear Mr. Gilmour play this song now! I love this man.

Perfection. No other words can describe that intro
Thank you sharing. So Beautiful. Is he a genius. Wow.
Thank you, David, from Burlington Vermont
One of the greatest songs of any band, EVER!
Possibly the most iconic song of the entire century.
Seeing this live had me crying like nothing else
Same.
A timeless Floyd classic. The gift that just keeps on giving. Thanks Dave :)

You had fantastic seats! I'm VERY envious!
Thank you so much for posting.
Our pleasure!
Sorry I never got to see them. Bless all of you and your comments.
How i wish i was there ❤
i've heard THOUSANDS of "duets" voices and instruments , but David Gilmour and his guitar , it's out of this world ..... still in 2024 ....

The Voice and Guitar of
Mortality and Ageing
- David Gilmour
I'm crying, you're crying, shut up, we're all crying; I'll never not feel a tremendous yearning, a longing, a sense of loss, a depth of feeling unable to express in words, whenever I hear this song...
RIP Syd Barrett, we will hear you once again when our time comes...
Till they meet again.
A fine performance. More than worthy of the seven words it takes to satisfy the algorithm.
He sounds great
Three years, Keithy. Miss you, mate. X
I love this song so very much❤
Wish you were here, mom, miss you, every single day.
Legend!
Dave you are such a great Musician. Thanks for all these fantastic and outstanding Songs!!!

I’m about to drop a bag and go completely out of my comfort zone traveling solo to a state I’ve never been to before to see this man.
Can't wait for the 29th to come sooner 🍄🍄
🤗
Honestly about to do the same thing for the New York show
I think it's definitely worth it, I hope you do it, I'm rooting for you!
@@b4lysh3v23 I did it 🎉🎉 this is a bucket list thing for me and always been a dream to see him play comfortably numb live.
1977 I saw Pink Floyd play Wish you were Here and Animals at Bingley Hall, Stafford. Bowie same venue a year later. Was there ever a better era for fantastic music? Not for me.
Beautiful song every one of pink Floyd fans sing it 2 past friends..
My Music Dad❤
Wish you were here we’re just two lost souls ⚰️✅ miss you siya
I dont get star stuck much, but I think if I could meet a celebrity, it would be him.
My best friend murdered 1994 James Ashley. Never said a cross word about anybody . Always willing to help. Just was enjoying life with his wife, best friend June. Well this song always brings it back
Sorry to hear that, really tough, you honor him by your comment, RIP
In high school,I had a friend die by falling from a bridge. We played this song at our prom. Always make me think of him. RIP Jimmy
Thank you for sharing your heartfelt memory with us. It’s truly touching to see how songs can help us remember those we've lost.
El mejor tema de David Gilmour por lejos, poesia, reflexión y un terrible solo de guitarra!!.
David ao cantar com à Romany , eu chorei como uma criança .
Гилмор бэндит даже на акустике🤘

Long live Syd barret

How many more times????
The 70’s in high school
Melodrama from people who love to broadcast to the world every time they cry..
How I wish, how I wish Roger was here
And Rick...
Sid ya está presente😊@@annettereynolds7457
RIP Syd, gone but not forgotten … :’(
I realize this song is a guitar-guy-at-campfire cliche but d3mn when a song is great it's great.
This was Pink Floyd...
How much more intimate and powerful would this be with just the acoustics. Powerof the bass drowns everything out too much for me.
I played this at my mom's funeral but my aunt didn't want me to play it so I said she was only ur sister and I played it anyway and she hasn't talked to me since that was in May 2024
Will this be his last tour? 🥺

Why did you crop off David’s head?
Booze 😂

Are those J-200s? They sound like it.

The ending chord was a nice surprise.

Those are great seats!! Rich motha fucka !!!!
Two goldfish swimming in a bowl year after year THATS US
If the "Monarchy" could Knight Jagger ....... why not Gilmour?
And of course, Roger!
Love it but the guy in backing vocals was an octave too high.
Wish you all were, but some of you are out of time!
There’s only one time to sing along, when the artist asks you to. What the hell people? Why is this becoming normal?
Sorry, a bit frustrating without the electric guitar and the erratic video framing. Still good to hear and see nonetheless but not what I expected.
Ok😂
the song was great! but next time try to get better seats please ;)
HAHA, yeah, those seats were a bit of a bummer. I’ll try to snag some better ones next time! What a memorable show though!!
@@GuitarGodsUnleashedI think this is his last go round.
@@strothermartin5368 Unfortunately, I have to agree with you

Nah. Your hearing sucks.
