Tamiya XV02 Pro vs XV01 Review - Which is Best? Detailed Comparison!

- Hi all and welcome to this video where we compare the new Tamiya XV-02 Pro to the old Tamiya XV-01 rally chassis. The old chassis is well proven and held in high regard my many RC rally enthusiasts. So how well does the new chassis compare? I'm joined for the discussion and review by my good friend Rob @robbrennanrc to have a good look at the similarities and differences between the two platforms.
I was very lucky to be able to review the new XV02 Pro and it's all thanks to a great supporter of the channel, a chap called Gary who kindly lent the Chassis to us for review and testing! Cheers, Gary!
Just a note: I've been asked many times about where I get my Stainless hex-head screw kits from. I don't buy screw kits as the prices are massively inflated. I buy packs of individual stainless hex socket head screws from eBay, in the sizes I need, it saves tons of money. E.g. a pack of 50x M3 10mm screws is only £2.80 delivered! Here is a link, you can select the lengths you need,

I suggest starting with lengths of 8mm, 10mm and 12mm as these will replace most of the screws in a kit and will do many cars if you buy packs of 50 or 100. 10mm is the most used size on a Tamiya kit, so buy proportionally more of them.

About the XV-02 Pro:
Main equipment parts
Drive system: Full bearing specifications, front and rear aluminum propeller shafts, front and rear oil-filled gear differentials (set of 2 39T and 1 40T), front and rear universal drive shafts
Suspension: Front and rear aluminum long Damper (blue cap specification), caster block with caster angle of 6 degrees, turnback upper arm
Chassis circumference: front urethane bumper with skid angle, polycarbonate chassis cover, aluminum servo mount, high torque servo saver

Really good in-depth comparison there Mark, can’t wait for for the running video as yours are always top notch. I think why the chassis is chamfered on the xv02 is to get the weight more towards the centre line if the chassis. Anyway good stuff look forward to the next one

Hi Steve! Yeah, it's gonna be hard to beat the XV01. I reckon the 02 might be better off road due to those shocks, but you could fit those to a XV01 and it'd still be miles cheaper! All the best, catch you soon, dude! :))
Hiya matey. Oh yeah that was a great way to start my Friday evening. How cool that the RC community has yet again provided you with some nice kit to test. I did physically flinch when I heard the price of the XV-02. I didn't realise that it was so expensive. After your excellent comparison It's hard to justify that extra expense really. Apart from those lovely shocks I think I like the XV-01 better. I guess that the proof will be in the driving but I think that for the casual hobbyist like me the XV-01 is the best package especially for the money. I already know that I like mine so the XV-02 has serious competition. I look forward to the run vids as I really enjoyed the previous ones between the TT-02 and XV-01 and I watched them all again before I bought my XV-01. It's great to see you doing such good stuff on your channel with Rob. Very best wishes for the weekend mate (I'm sure Friday is still special even though you are now retired!) 🙂
Yeah the price is very high for a roller kit without Body Shell!
I think the XV-01 is the car that makes more fun to drive and drives more like a real rally car. The XV-02 is the car that will perform better (performance on tracks) but has no distinct driving charecteristics compared to other rally cars.
@@TheBod76 Yeah I was thinking that maybe the XV-02 is better with a skilled driver on a track but for me at the park the XV-01 is perfect! 🙂
Hiya Pete! Yes indeed, how nice of Gary to lend me his lovely XV02! There really are lots of great folk in this RC community. I agree about the price, I know it's got some cool hop-ups included but it still seems over priced to me. I definitely think the XV01 is better value for money but it will be cool to see just how differently they drive. I reckon those TRF shocks will play a part in it! I'm the same as you mate, just a casual hobbyist and no a racer, but I think there are more like us buying these kits. Hi Mark , we need definitly a " MARK- CAR WOW- DRAG RACE " between them . By the way i was always a fan of the front motor XV-01. For me an almost real weight ratio.

That is a lot of money mate, I don't doubt that they are good running RC, I just would prefer to shop around for a ready to run because I'm a tight arse, however always enjoy your opinion on the builds and as you have built more than I ever have I always learn from you, thanks for your upload mate 👍🙏🐈

I like the new version everything about it to me is better but for me one thing that is not... the battery placement makes the COG higher...don't know why they did this with it? Nice comparison guy's!
Hi Steve - yeah I do like the XV02 and it has some great design features, it's just that my wallet doesn't like it!!!

Hey Mark, what a great way to start the weekend! Excellent overview of the XV chassis family. You make some very interesting observations about the chassis flex and the wobbly steering. There seems to be quite a few options for the XV02 already to improve and I am sure we’ll see a lovely alloy steering set.
I wonder how the drive comparisons will go and also how the Pro kit will differ to the stock kit when it comes?

Glad you enjoyed it Craig! Yeah, there was a lot to talk about on this one, I struggled to edit it down to less than 20 mins! We had 35 mins of footage so a lot was cut out. Hehe, yes there are tons of options coming out, but for the best part of £400 I'd want them all included! Let's rally, indeed!

I can already say that my steering arm (of the two that turn parallel, the one that has the additional bit to connect to the servo turnbuckle) is quite fragile. Mine snapped on a slow front impact against another RC. I've seen other XV02 users, in Japan as most of the social media for this car I've found comes from there, have this problem.
Fortunately, TB05 steering bits can be exchanged, but it has a slight geometry difference, and I wonder how it'll affect the steering's performance...
It's quite sad that Tamiya hasn't released any sprues for spares, and that many that don't know this info will be left with an expensive paperweightr early on. I really hope Tamiya get better on their spare and hop up availability, although I don't think it seems likely on the short term.

@@MarkBryanRC all good, mate! Still takes you less to answer than Tamiya to put some spares on the market. Let alone find a solution.
I have fitted the Yeah Racing piece since, and to be completely honest, I haven't ran the chassis since.
Then again, I've also seen some images with the Yeah Racing piece broken at the same point...
I really hope Tamiya fixes this, or starts producing heaps of spares, and at a reasonable price... But, speaking from experience, we probably know neither will happen, lol!

I got to like the XV-01 when I watched Rob's Asterion video, the truck version of the 01, that's a cool vehicle!
Sometimes I think it's funny with Tamiya, they have a series of chassis' where the versions are quite unlike each other, like the DT's that are so different. And these ones remind me of the DB's where the 01 is also belt driven and 02 is shaft driven... Oh, well, they do what they do, ha ha...

Hi Mads! Hope you're not being too responsible this weekend!!! Oh, coincidence, I'm not about to buy an XV02 either! But I do love my XV01. Totally get what you are saying about Tamiya and their strange developments on a single chassis series like DT & DB. Well, all the chassis series really!
As we all know "Tamiya moves in mysterious ways". This new XV02 just proves that! Anyways we are still looking forward to trying them against each other (e.g. playing with them!)

Hi Mark, nice review. The basics of both chassis are so different, it would be fun to drive both and experience their driving characteristics. The covers for the XV01 are preferable to the open design of the 02. Both are well engineered and both are cool. I think I prefer the mid engine design of the 02 but the stiffness and practical design of the 01. The clear cover for the 02 was pretty cool. Great comparison 👍🏾

Now that's good stuff there my friend(s)!!! I think boat shape hull (chassis) on the XV02 it to stop the sides from hitting the ground on turns (just like on some other Tamiya kits). Can't wait to see them run!!! As always, Great video mate, ATB to everyone!!!!!

Hi there. That's a great comparison.
Somehow I have the feeling Tamiya was too much focused on detailed innovations and then noticed they have overseen the basics.
I like the middle motor solution, the dust cover, battery door and shocks. But I'm not a fan of hex screws. Putting on the front body mounts where they have space and not presenring a body solution is something that dissapoints me from a Japanese manufactor. I'm with the slipper clutch solution, but a center diff would kill the advantages of the overdrive you can build in. To be honest for me this would be better used in a crawler.
I miss the times of the TA-02. For me it's still the greatest or changable chassis ever. It wors for on-roaders as well as for rallye cars and could be highly upgraded. If I get to realise my rallye prpject in the nearer future it probably'll based on the CC-01.

You are spot-on with your thinking about the centre diff cancelling the overdrive feature! I agree the slipper clutch is a more sensible option. And the front body mount that doesn't fit existing bodies is disappointing 😑
I have an old TA02 that is totally original and still runs perfectly today. As you say it's perfectly at home on road or dirt and the suspension is awesome 👌. Tamiya sure move in mysterious ways 😉.

Hi there Mark, and a great side by side comparison of the chassis’. I have really enjoyed the dynamic duo on camera today. I also thoroughly enjoyed a close up explanation of the XV-01 vs XV-02Pro features, pro’s and con’s. From what I could see, it was negligible ride height, as the XV-02 chassis is bevelled. The TRF dampers being smoother and longer on the XV-02 vs the XV-01 Shorter CVA’s, however the resultant travel being again negligible. Both cars having the same wheelbase and track wide, it’s looking like the performance differences are going to be based around chassis layout. Oh, nearly forgot that smooth belt drive system, vs the shaft drive system of the XV-02…but it seems to tune the chassis, needs more upgrades to the central drive train. So, would it not be more economical to buy the XV-01 and upgrade the shocks to TRF shocks? Well…we’re going to see, next time around, when my guru pitches the two chassis, head to head 😉😊😁awesome comparison. Take care and best wishes to you and the family 😉😊😁

that's a good looking kit, but that price tag scares me. ( I visually don't see twice the value of a tt-02 ) LC racing has a nice looking ralley car kit also, the PTG-2. It's a little more than a tt-02, but less than the xv-02. Here across the pond the PTG-2 is about $250 US( 215.50 £ ) but needs body and electronics like the xv-02. It would be nice to see both in person to figure out which I would like better. Pictures and videos can show you so much. Compared to hands on comparisons 👍

I've been thinking about the front body mounts on the XV02. When I raced 4wd touring cars I always mounted my front body mounts on the front bumper. This ment the body wouldn't flex when hitting things. We also filled as much of the front bumper with foam to soften the blows.

@Mark Bryan RC I used a large foam block that went over the kit diameter bumper. It is also the best place to mount a race transponder as it is further forward in the car. Say your front wheels are equal with another car the transponder that is mounted further forward will score first

Thanks for the comparison vid 👍. It's only my opinion but the XV-01 still seems to be the go to tamiya rally chassis. The motor location, battery location, chassis rigidity and plastics all seem superior, even down to the reduced slop in the steering. And I absolutely love the belt drive on the XV-01, so smooth. Depending on motor and shell like you say you could be spending the best part of £180 to £200 more on an XV-02. That's a big factor. Really looking forward to the running comparisons.
Hi there and many thanks for the great comment. I totally agree with your opinion! I love my XV01 and the handling is sublime, the closest to the dynamics of a real car, I think. Everything is right about the design. I couldn't justify the extra cost of the XV02, hence borrowing one for these comparisons. I think the 02 bill do better on rough ground, though. What an interesting side-by-side comparison.
I gather that drive belts tend to absorb less power than prop shafts, but given the choice, I'd definitely choose the longevity offered by the shaft.
I actually didn't know that the XV-01 had such a pronounced front bias when it comes to weight distribution - in that respect, I imagine that it might be analogous to most full-size rally cars.

Yes the drive belt offers a smoother ride, but as long as you don't go mad with the motor, they do last well. In fact, this one id 4 years old and I've never had to tension it!
And you are right again,, the front bias of the XV01 really does give it a "real world" car fell with handling to match the actual front-engined rally cars. Many thanks for leaving a great comment and wishing you a great weekend as always! :O)
By placing the body mounts on the front bumper you will hold the body on a much stronger place then right above the wheel Arches (like on the 01) where there isn't much material. This to prevent a flapping front.

Hi Mark and Rob. Spent hours enjoying your videos, keep up the good work! I’m the proud owner of an XV02, and look forward to your XV01 comparison. I’ve equipped mine with lots of hop ups like the alloy adjustable suspension mounts and slipper clutch. A question, I also have a centre diff, not fitted in the car. I could send this to you, I’d need it back though, so that you could test it for front/rear drive balance with the 40 tooth diff, if you’re interested in going that far into comparative testing?

El xv01 es mucho mejor sin duda y más real y más fácil de modificar! No existe un coche de rally con 3 diferenciales... Para comprar más y gastar...... El xv01 es el pata negra de los rallys en cuanto a la fiabilidad y paso por curva!!

I love my xv-01 and the real difference in handling compared to my modified tt-01e and tt-02.
That front motor really gives it a unique feel. I haven't rushed into the xv02 because of the more traditional motor placement.
Very interesting points you make about chassis stiffness and body post location. That's almost a deal breaker for me since i like to swap bodies.
Can you put the posts back into the xv01 location with the new kit?

I love my XV01 and don't think I'll be spending my money on a 02, I also swap my rally bodies between chassis so it's a big issue for me, and no, there is no way of attaching the posts to the shock tower on the XV02.

Exact same line up as me. I've got the XV-01, and a TT-01E and TT-02 both in rally spec. I've held back on the XV-02. From what I've seen I don't think it's be an improvement on the XV-01.
@@squareblueorange battery access is my only complaint on the xv-01. Tt-02 handles basically the same as my tt02b and other 4wd Tamiya kits so i don't rate them as a rally car, compared to xv01 and it's unique handling and smoothness. 👍
Just getting caught up on some Mark Bryan rally goodness. Great comparison video fellas. The XV02 Pro sure looks nice, but for that price tag, it's a little on the expensive side. The XV01 looks like it may be the better value. 😁

The longer shocks would give more upward travel when the chassis has bottomed out I'm guessing. Good video mark

Hi Dave! Well, I know a lot about the 01 and nothing about the 02 until we got it a few days ago, but I only just finished building it! Yeah, I don't care why they moved the body posts, I just want them the same as the other 257mm chassis so I can fit my lovely rally bodies on it! All the best, mate! :)

As for the body mounts, you'd have to knock up some custom mounts as there are no fixings on the front shock tower. I think it could be done though! Cheers!

@@MarkBryanRC I was going to run it yesterday but it was raining all day, so I then planned to run it today but had no motivation as it's still very wet out. I've got a waterproof/resistant savox low profile servo, WP receiver, Flysky G7P radio with a metal wheel for the foam grip, saving the best bit for last, a Castle Copperhead 10 and 3800kv 4 pole Castle motor 💪 I've still got to finish the dust cover, I was going to paint it black with a Matt effect clear coat by Tamiya but due to the thermals of the chassis I might just clear coat it. Then it's the case of fitting all the foam for dust retention I initially skipped. My motor reached 48c with low timing on 2s and the cover on, and the ESC about the same. It was 22c outside that day (July?). I just got a set of JC road tires and hard rally blocks glued up. Also had some 22 gauge wire arrive yesterday to solder up some taillights. I admittedly haven't drove it that much as I've been waiting on parts, like the metal wheel for my radio, the centre diff option part (which I've now fitted but not ran), so a proper second run is on the horizon soon me thinks, regardless of the weather 😅 Summary, cover, taillights, soft rally blocks (now it's getting cooler), an intake fan on the cover?, front overdrive to be reinstalled and it can be ran again! Woo!

I'd love to be able to hop-up all my cars like this. However, I have so many cars that financially it's just not possible for me. TBH most of my Tamiyas are completely stock! It will be cool to see how you get on after all these upgrades, especially the overdrive and the centre diff. I think you will need to vent that cover for cooling or leave it off completely! Good luck and above all, have fun with it! :))
Unfortunately all the shops and tracks near me have closed. The only place to get anything hear in Northern Indiana is tower or hobby king (both mail order)
Same over here I'm afraid, there are a few hobby shops and rc clubs but none are very local to me. I get most of my rc stuff from mail order or ebay.
Hi mate, I must admit I've never been a fan of front mounted motors, but on this occasion I think I'd choose the XV-01. I mean once you've brought all the extras for the XV-02 as you say the price just rockets. Having said that I'm not a fan of belt driven 4wd either, so I'd really be at a loss as to which one to buy. Actually if I were buying a rally car, I think I just go for the good old TT-02 as I'm not really a connoisseur of RC chassis. If it looks good and is reliable then I'm happy. Fascinating comparison nonetheless less dude.....😀👍🏻.

Yeah if you just want to have a blast around some off road terrain at the park, a TT02 with a few tweaks is just perfect. I wasn't sure about the front engined XV01 at first but after owning one I have to say I think you would understand why folks rave about them if you drove one. As for the belt, my car is 4 years old and I've never had to adjust it!!! If we ever meet I'll bring my XV01 with me! All the best my good friend and catch you later 👍 😊

Maybe I missed it in the video... does there seem to be a reason the front mounting posts were moved? Does the front bulkhead/shock mount seem to prevent locating the body posts where they used to be?
Hi and thanks for the comment. No, I can't see a reason why Tamiya moved the body posts forward. The front shock tower is in a position that could hold the body posts in the standard TT01/02 position, it's just they haven't created any mounting points on the tower for the posts!
Getting very strong Roy and Renee vibes at the start there, haha. The body mounts (on the bumper) are in the same position as the TA08, I think it's common on touring cars and I've noticed marks on other tamiya bodies to show where the holes go (eg the 911 carrera rsr I've just painted). Good comparison though, off to find the driving comparison now.

Great discussion, like others I've been watching the 02 but i soon started to have doubts whether the xv02 was for me. I bought my first 01 because of the handling, if I wanted to go faster or higher, I would have bought elsewhere (not Tamiya) for me my xv's are about the scale aspect (looks and performance), if i was into indoor drifting or just very low grip rallying I certainly would grab a xv02 now, I see the mechanically induced oversteer with the closer 50/50 weight distribution being easier to tune (great for beginners or casuals). But that's also my problem with this kit (it's never going to handle like a 01). Also why recommend a slipper? Tamiya aren't seriously suggesting running a slipper lose enough to negate to overdrive. (Overheating problems) 1. then what is the point of the overdrive? 2. The slipper should only slip maximum a couple of times during a heavy landing with a full open throttle, some pinion/spur strips happen due to chassis flex and driveline momentarily out of alinement (again looking at these flexible plastics Tamiya!!!).
Also, the 01 has a (maybe too much) amount of body roll (even more with interior, roll cage + body reinforced with dry lining tape and Shoe goo) which i love and helps the crazy oversteer/weight transfer during the twisty stuff, (an exaggeration of real world, I'm sure this is what makes 01's look so good, all 01 owners know what i mean). Maybe a 02 with a stiff rear end would help, I'm sure it won't be long before seeing owners on forums tune everything they want from their 02's, proving me wrong yet again lol. For me, for the time being the xv01 is the most fun chassis Tamiya has produced, and if anyone can raise the bar it's Tamiya. Also there's the cost of the xv02 £330, It's £150 more than my last xv01 (£180 Delta). So, my question XV02 or XV01 with £150 in hotups? (Not going to even mention the lack of motor or ESC)

Hi Fu and thanks for the interesting comment! I bought my XV01 for the exact reasons as you. I love the drive and think it's as close to real-world as you can get. I don't race in competitions so outright performance doesn't come into it for me. All we are trying to do with these videos is to show how they fit together, similarities, differences, pro's and con's. Hopefully give our opinions about the driving experience each chassis gives in relation to the other. As for the best chassis? Well that's up to each individual out there, because "best" is subjective! For me, being subjective, on first inspections I'd go with the XV01 and £150 of hop-ups! But as we start to test them, I reserve the right to change my mind!!!

I have to say you two did a very good comparison, but from what you said the XV-01 seems to be the better one. I know the Pro has a few more shinny parts, then some of them are for the different drive design. In my opinion you could add the TRF shocks and CVD's and they would be about the same price or not that far off. I do have a worry in the battery holder on the XV-02, in a bad rollover could the battery force its way out. I think the body mount on the bumper is not a good idea and wonder will it increase body wobble and also does it make it harder to fit the rally interior. The chassis flex, real rally cars are very stiff with their chassis the roll cage helps with that and could that flex lessen the suspension in corners. Now looking forward to see them running together to see which one it best.

But no, I don't think the battery will fly out as when the dust cover is fitted it's all pretty tight in there! Hi guys! great video and review. I must say looking for rally capable chassis LC racing PTG-2 or even MST XXX comes better design for off road than this one. Don't get me wrong, I love tamiya but I think for the price you're getting way more from their competitors.
Same thing that went through my mind 👍 I think I rather have a ptg-2 or upgraded tt-02 for the price. ( Have yet to drive/handle a ptg-2 )

My XV-02 does not have anything like the steering slop you showed. Looks like the Hi Torque servo saver does not have all 3 rings on it? But defiantly using a standard size servo with the plastic spacer mounts is not ideal, with a low pro it bolts straight to the aluminium supports.

On the XV-01 chasis, it comes with bottom shock mounts that are 3-4mm longer that you can fit instead of the ones stated in the build instructions. with these fitted when you push the chasis down on a flat surface like a table top, on the full suspension compression the chasis does not touch with a couple of MM clearance. this is good for big jumps and rough surfaces, but it still retains the damper's travel and on full compression, the wheels still do not rum on the inner wheel arches. To me the XV-01 is a brilliant well thought out chasis, the XV-02 seems to be Tamiya throwing somthing new to the market to attempt to milk XV-01 owners to part with their cash for somthing new (At a rip off price too!). That's my two 'penneth worth...

As for the longer bottom mounts, I'm pretty sure that I fitted those too. But my car does bottom out on full compression. Doesn't affect the handling too much though. The rotation speed of a single joint universal is a bit wibbly wobbly when it's on an angle (like the shadow spinning around a sundial) but Tamiya also has double cardan universals like 42372 which are more like constant velocity. They're not cheap 🤣
Hi Andrew, hehe, yeah, you make a good point about those single joint universals, but I doubt they are more wobbly than an old fashioned dogbone! As with all high-end Tamiya parts, the double cardans are priced in the stratosphere! 🤣
The center mounted motor on the XV02 is what turns me off. To me it is more of a TT02 or 4wd sedan. I always liked the idea of a tail happy rally car. The XV02 is not as tail happy as its predecessor

I own a xv01 and i belive the only thing that should have been done was the long shock version and they did, the new xv02 makes the car more hpi wrc look alike with the central diff and the motor/battery position, removing all the specs that made the xv01 absolutely unique. I belive the xv01 is the most unique and iconic tamiya chassis and the xv02 makes the kit adopt all the issue and specs of the other onroad/rally 1/10 cars , making an overpriced tamiya kit rather than iconic dirt proof xv01
Hi Enrico! I totally agree with your comments. I think Tamiya took a step backwards with the XV02, they should have upgraded the XV01. As you say, the unique design with the motor up front is very special and the belt drive is so smooth! Cheers!

Hi Lee - I don't buy screw kits as the prices are massively inflated.
I buy packs of individual stainless hex socket head screws from eBay, in the sizes I need, it saves tons of money.
E.g. a pack of 50x M3 10mm screws is only £2.80 delivered!

I suggest starting with lengths of 8mm, 10mm and 12mm as these will replace most of the screws in a kit and will do many cars if you buy packs of 50 or 100. 10mm is the most used size on a Tamiya kit, so buy proportionally more of them.

To me, different axle speeds mean no hard surfaces or you snap one. I don't think I will ever run one. The drive shaft is a big change from the belt. Belts make less noise aswell.
Agreed! I would not use the overdrive, either... the new chassis is not a derivation of the XV01 and I don't think it's an improvement. The belt drive sure is quiet! 😎👍

It may be worth noting that it would be safe to change the front/rear diff gear ratios without a slipper or a center diff if you drive it only on loose dirt.
But, I'm really surprised Tamiya shipped only a center spool but gave customers the opportunity to grenade their transmission by bundling in the different tooth counts, especially at this price point.

Differential Gearing has been used for Years in Comp Crawlers. Overdrive up front for control on very steep rock climbing.
Never heard of it on high speed Rally Cars. It seems to me, that setup on hard dirt, or Tarmac....

To anyone considering this, for just a bit more I purchased an arrma limitless. That's 100 times more car with much higher quality parts. This doesn't even have metal gears (Metal Gear?!). Plastic everything except driveshafts. Definetly not great value. Super cramped design. Really struggled to fit a proper 3S motor and battery. Definetly do not recommend this. Drives nice though.
I must admit that Arrma make some awesome cars, but I'm a hopeless Tamiya addict! 😅👍

I just finished the kv02 today, body finished (lancia delta for now. I went on my first test drive. I was very exited after 30 years absence on the hobby…
After 2 mins, the steering broke. At the point i describe like this: from the servo arm to the turnbuckle arm the first point where it‘s attached thi the steering „hub“ is made of very thin plastic. I didn‘t crash. I even went to the hobby shop to set the servo angle up on the new sanwa controller with the tech there. I was going on fine gravel, very even ground, no bumps, no jumps low grip.
I think the part is too thin in dimension. I hope i find spare parts soon, or aluminium hop up, in the hope it‘s stronger.
Another thought i had is that maybe the servo is too strong? But then it still shouldn‘t just break so easy.
I wonder what you think when you look at that part, your experienced opinion means. Lot to me.

I'm sorry to hear that the part T5 has broken. But on the car I borrowed, I drove it hard over very rough terrain and crashed many, many times. Nothing broke.
I can only assume that the part in your kit was damaged in some way, of there was a fault in manufacturing because the part in the car I drove was good and strong. I hoppe you find a replacement soon.

It was such a bummer because i was so exited to finally drive it. I could order the spare part allready. I went for the yeah racing alloy replacement. It‘s part-No: TXV2-007BU if your friend who borrowed it to you ever needs one. I also ordered the connecting „triangle“ part in alloy wich is part-no: TXV2-006BU. I hope the parts will arrive soon, i really want to drive it. Do you recommend a servo saver for these rally cars? I took my tamyia servo saver from the xv-02 kit off and bought a direct mounted servo horn from hudy. With the servo saver i would have to cut a huge hole into the dustcover… the servo is more than strong enough, it‘s a savox 25kg

I do recommend using the servo saver that comes with the kit, it not only takes the stress off the servo in the event of an impact to the front wheels, but also reduces stress on all the other steering components. @@MarkBryanRC i received the alloy part today, replaced it and ran it. It‘s very nice! Finally i can enjoy the xv-02👍🏻 i just think it‘s too fast😳 i would prefer it a little slower so it moves more to scale on narrower tracks. I bought my electronics at a competitive store (for xray buggys and touring cars). Brutal acceleration and goes to a very high top speed. It‘s a unsensored brushless 5600 kv motor😁 maybe i can program it slower via the transmitter? The esc is allready programmed to liwest accelleration… but it‘s fun to drive. Very smooth suspension. When you go fast allready, and then accellerate mire the wheels spin again! It was on wet tarmac today. Maybe i look for a weaker motor, maybe i even switch to a brushed system once i buy a racing buggy where i can use the motor from this car. What motors do you use on your rally cars?
